Elders auctioneer Nathan McCarthy said older steers came into the yards for the first time in a few months.

00:00I thought it was pretty good yarding. We saw a few older steers coming to the Narukot Yards here for
00:04the first time in a couple months and then still a lot of those younger fresher calves
00:102024 drop. So yeah still the quality of the calves are still there today. I think the price
00:16has sort of dipped maybe 20 or 30 cents even more in spots. I think especially on those heavy end
00:22calves. The younger weaners sort of 300 to 330 kilos still made sort of four up to $4.20 so
00:29they still held a bit of their value. But yeah over most of the yarding it was back a fair way.
00:35Talking to a few fellas down there a lot of the feed lots have filled up like a lot of calves
00:38have been sold in New South Wales and Victoria over the last two months. So a lot of places
00:43just filling up. Feed around this area here has definitely gone off and the criticism is definitely
00:48going out of feed so people aren't really keen to run those extra numbers that they usually do
00:53when it is a bit better this time of year.
