00:00Hi guys, my name's Jack Marshall, I'm a digital food and drink reporter with the Lancashire Post and Blackpool Gazette newspapers
00:06and I'm just here to introduce a bit of a story, a really nice feel-good story, a global story really
00:11which is bringing home, really hitting home actually, the kind of influence which one of
00:17Lancashire's local food cuisine purveyors and social media superstars is having across the
00:24world. Like I say, this really demonstrates the power of social media and that is of course
00:28Spud Bros. Now people who have read our previous stories on Spud Bros will know about the kind of
00:34social media influence and the kind of reach they have across the world. They've got
00:39something like 3.3 million followers across numerous different platforms from Instagram,
00:44Facebook, TikTok, everything and that kind of influence really is reaching parts of the globe
00:48you never would have thought Preston would have any kind of like course of action being involved
00:53with and that has really culminated in a Singapore couple travelling 13 hours from Singapore to
00:59London and then coming up to the North West to visit Preston's flag market to get their hands
01:04on a baked potato. Now you never would have thought it was possible but this couple have been
01:09so enamoured by the spuds being served up by Jake and Harley at the hot potato tram in
01:16Preston that they just thought we're in the UK, we've got to go see them. They've come to
01:21see them and they got the potato for free as a kind of gesture of goodwill for the distance
01:26they've travelled which is absolutely incredible. Spud Bros put a bit of a video of their encounter
01:31with this intrepid couple out. I'm going to include it now, have a watch. Thanks for watching, cheers.
01:36What's on your second one?
01:41Cheese and garlic chicken. So where are you from again? Singapore. So you're our friends from
01:47Singapore. How long was the flight? 13 hours. 13 hours, wow. To London. Just for a potato.
01:58Just for a potato. You've come to the right place. Are you going back there or?
02:06From Manchester.
02:09Nice. I think we've been to Singapore before, yeah. Really? No it's Kuala Lumpur.
02:15Yeah but it's not Singapore. Singapore's like our own country isn't it? Yeah. So we've been to Malaysia, the Philippines.
02:25Yeah we had family in the Philippines.
02:29We were meant to go to Singapore.
02:39What, you get a fine for having chewing gum?
02:42Everybody's really strict over there.
02:43You get a fine for swearing? No.
02:52Right, so we have a world map for you. A world map, yeah. So you're gonna have to cross off Singapore.
03:09You can't see our country.
03:10There we go. Hold it up for camera.
03:18And these are free for you and us then.
03:24These are our friends from Singapore. You're very welcome. Safe journeys back anyway. See you later.
03:31Harley, they're still watching us.
03:45Shoot, skedaddle, scroll on, come on. Come on, scroll up, you know you want to.
03:52I need to get back to the potato cutting.
