00:00Clive Gunshaw, Poison Crime Commissioner for Lancashire. Every year we go through a festive
00:06campaign to warn people about the issues around drink and drug driving. You know we want people
00:14to enjoy themselves this time of year but this year I think there's a real concern that there
00:21was 331 people that have been arrested for drink and drug driving in Lancashire which is
00:29a 24% increase on the year before. Now that is a concern to us now part of that is down to the
00:38increased investment that we've been putting in so more police more people being stopped but also
00:46better technology to enable the police to test for in particular drug driving. There was more
00:54people arrested this year this December for drug driving than drink driving and the message has got
01:03to go out that it's unacceptable to drink or take drugs and getting your vehicle is a selfish act
01:12you're putting yourself and other people at danger and drugs in particular can stay in the system
01:18for days afterwards. We will do everything we can to invest in more policing, more patrols,
01:26better technology. It is about making sure that we have the best possible policing
01:32to deliver the best possible service safety through strength.
