00:00The election period has just begun, but the number of authorities who are fighting the gun ban is still increasing.
00:08The most of them are located in the middle of Luzon.
00:11Ryan Lesigue is in the center of the news.
00:16More than 30 individuals have been arrested by the Philippine National Police or PNP
00:22because of carrying weapons during the second day of the nationwide election gun ban in the country.
00:30According to the PNP spokesperson and PRO3 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Jane Fajardo,
00:3626 of the arrested are civilians, 3 are security guards,
00:411 appointed government official in the Bansamoro Ministry, and 1 soldier.
00:46Up to 80 firearms were confiscated by the PNP during the nationwide election gun ban.
00:53Most of them are from Central Luzon.
00:5514 of them are from Cagayan Valley and 14 are from Western Visayas.
01:02In addition, gun replicas, bullets, and explosives were confiscated.
01:08This Saturday night, the PNP started the Comelec Checkpoint throughout the country.
01:13This is an indication of the official start of the election period and gun ban for Halalan 2025.
01:20Checkpoints will be established in strategic locations, especially at night.
01:25The Plainview Doctrine will be implemented during the inspection.
01:29This means that vehicles are not allowed to pass,
01:32unless there is a basis or information of the police to ensure its safety.
01:38What are the circumstances that may warrant a conduct of further inspection?
01:44Let's say, when you go down the window, you see a gun there,
01:49or you see someone wearing a gown there, or you see someone struggling there.
01:53Then, if that happens, our police should be wearing uniforms,
01:59their names should be clearly identifiable.
02:02Other than that, it's just a visual search.
02:06To find out if this is legitimate,
02:08there is a big car, several meters away from the checkpoint where the vehicle is being slowed down.
02:14At the checkpoint itself, it should be in a place where there is light and a lot of people can be seen.
02:20The nameplate of the police and the details of the car should also be clearly read.
02:26Let's talk to our police.
02:28Let's say, at night, don't turn on their flashlights in front of the eyes of our countrymen who are passing by.
02:35Of course, it's painful for the eyes.
02:37Someone is also asking us, ma'am can we get a video while we are being inspected?
02:43No problem.
02:44More than 1,400 Comelec checkpoints will be installed in different parts of the country.
02:49But this may increase depending on the security threat in the area, according to Comelec.
02:55Ryan Liziguez for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
