00:00KK Mart has suspended all dealings with Shake and Bake Cafe, the supplier of pre-packed

00:06chicken, ham and cheese sandwiches sold at its outlet in University Malaya following

00:11issues with the use of the halal logo on the packaging.

00:14The convenience store chain has also halted the supply of the product across all its outlets.

00:20This comes after concerns were raised about the use of the halal logo on their pre-packed

00:24sandwiches, which led to the closure of two KK Mart concept stores at UM.

00:29KK Mart said it issued a demand letter through David Gurupataman Kueh and filed a police

00:34report.

00:35KK Mart said it was aware of the raid conducted last Friday on the supplier's factory by

00:40the Islamic Development Department and the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry

00:44and expressed its readiness to fully cooperate with the authorities.

00:48In a statement on Facebook, Jakin confirmed that the sandwich and its manufacturer were

00:53not halal certified, stating that the use of the halal logo constitutes a violation

00:58under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011.
