A fatal accident involving three vehicles on Jalan Semporna-Tawau on Sunday (Jan 12) was caused when a car carrying the victims veered into the opposite lane.

The car, driven by a 34-year-old man was carrying six passengers aged between six months and 82 years, had entered the opposite lane before colliding with a four-wheel drive vehicle and a multi-purpose vehicle.

00:10Semporna District Police Chief Superintendent Mohamed Sabri Zainal said the car,
00:15driven by a 34-year-old man with six passengers, collided with a four-wheel drive and an MPV.
00:22The crash killed six family members aged six months to 82-year-old.
00:26Five died at the scene, while one died at Semporna Hospital,
00:30and the driver sustained severe injuries.
00:33Police said both the four-wheel drive vehicle and the MPV,
00:36driven by a 31-year-old and a 29-year-old,
00:40were heading to Tawau while the car was en route to Semporna.
00:43The case is being investigated under Section 41,
00:47subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
