A woman was killed and her husband and two children were injured when their car ended up in a ditch following a collision on Jalan Lintas in Kota Kinabalu.

In the 9pm incident at the Iramanis area on Sunday (Dec 22), the 58-year-old woman, seated in the front was thrown about 50m from the car driven by her 61-year-old husband.

00:11In the accident on Sunday night, the 58-year-old woman, seated in the front, was thrown about
00:1650 metres from the car, driven by her 61-year-old husband.
00:21The drivers sustained injuries, while their sons, aged 23 and 15, were ejected from the
00:27vehicle, but only suffered minor injuries.
00:30Kota Kinabalu Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Kasim Muda said the family was on their way
00:35home at the time.
00:37It is learned that the husband tried to change lanes, but was startled by another vehicle,
00:42causing him to brake suddenly and return to the original lane.
00:45However, he lost control of the car, which then collided with another vehicle driven
00:51by a man in his 40s.
00:53The family's car then crashed into a ditch on the left side of the road.
00:57As a result, the three passengers were ejected from the car, leading to the woman's death.
01:03The two people in the other vehicle were unharmed.
01:06The case is being investigated under Section 41, subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act,
01:121987 for reckless driving.
