00:00In combat sports, the current president of the Philippine Sambo Federation, Paolo Tancontian,

00:06has held his position until 2028.

00:09What are his plans to make the sport more popular in the country?

00:15For the details, here is the report of Paolo Salamati.

00:19The Philippine Sambo Federation has no plans to rest

00:22on the leadership of their president, Paolo Tancontian,

00:25for the upcoming programs from this year until 2028.

00:30One of them is the participation in major tournaments such as

00:34the World Beach Sambo Championship, World Championship,

00:37Asian Championship, and Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, or IMAG.

00:41Aside from this, Tancontian also distributed to PTV Sports,

00:45which is the most targeted by the federation,

00:48to find new generations of Filipino Samboists

00:51using their expanded grassroots program throughout the Philippines.

00:55We will continue our grassroots program that we started,

01:00Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

01:04We started last year, December, in Davao City,

01:10and maybe here in Tagaytay, Baguio, Bingit,

01:16and in Visayas, Cebu, and Dumaguete.

01:21Those are our plans.

01:24And in Mindanao, this March, we will have a part 2,

01:31a continuation of what we started.

01:35And our grassroots program is very effective

01:38because most of our athletes are from the province.

01:44In order to realize this kind of program,

01:47Tancontian also thanked all the members of the Philippine Sambo Federation

01:51who were a great help to be re-elected as president of their group.

01:56First of all, I want to thank all the members of the Philippine Sambo

02:01for re-electing me for the next 4 years.

02:06And tomorrow, we will have a meeting with our coaches.

02:12This is our first meeting for 2025.
