00:00In this point, let's talk about the latest updates on the programs of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:23Here in Mr. President On The Go.
00:26My fellow countrymen, one of the reasons for the dropout of students is their mental health concern.
00:37According to Ched Chairman Prospero Rivera, the top 5 reasons for the dropout of college students are financial problems, family problems,
00:49relocation, medical and mental health concern, and academic difficulty.
00:57For these reasons, they do not expect to increase the number of dropouts due to mental health concern.
01:06Those who are underage are also not exempted from mental health issues.
01:11According to the Department of Education, there are 1,686 cases of competed suicide and 7,892 cases of attempted suicide among students in elementary and high school from 2017 to 2023.
01:30Because of this, our President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. passed the Basic Education, Mental Health, and Well-Being Promotion Act
01:40in order to address the mental health concern of many students and school personnel who are facing modern challenges.
01:51According to our President, 17% of young people are living on their own and only 1% are looking to professionals.
02:00That is why it is important to provide health services directly to schools as their primary defense against issues related to mental health.
02:11Through this new law, schools will be a sanctuary for education and general improvement with the help of care centers that are supervised by professionals
02:24and will provide counseling and stress management workshops and programs to get rid of the wrong impression about mental health.
02:34And that is the update on the programs of the current administration. Until next time, Mr. President on the go.
