Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here coming to you from
00:06Abbey Dabbey Golf Club at the end of the opening day in the 2025 Team Cup. This event between
00:15Great Britain and Ireland and Continental Europe is a preparation event for the Ryder
00:22Cup which is being held at Bethpage Black in September. Continental Europe won this
00:31event two years ago at the same venue, but at the end of the opening day it's advantage
00:37Justin Rose's Great Britain and Ireland side as they hold a 3.5-1.5 lead after the only
00:46session today which consisted of four balls. One of the winning pairings for the GB and
00:54Ireland side was Tyrrell Hatton and Tom McKibben and there have been a bit of focus on that
01:01partnership after it was reported earlier this week that McKibben, the 22-year-old Northern
01:09Irishman is set to sign for Live Golf and join Hatton and John Ram on the Legion X-1-1
01:20team for the new Live season. That's still to be confirmed, McKibben has neither confirmed
01:27nor denied that story, however the pair certainly gelled well together today, recorded a great
01:35win as did Jordan Smith and Laurie Cantor and also Tommy Fleetwood, the GB and Ireland
01:42captain two years ago in partnership with former Genesis Scottish Open champion Aaron
01:49Rye in the anchor match. Saturday, day two, it will consist of two foursome sessions before
02:00the event concludes with 10 singles matches on Sunday. To keep up to date with the Team
02:07Cup and everything in the golf world, log on to Scotsman.com or buy the Scotsman.
