00:00Hello it's Martin Dempster the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here coming to you from close
00:08to the 18th green on the old course at St Andrews where Tyrell Hatton made a birdie
00:17at the 72nd hole to win the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Lynx Championship and in the process he created
00:28history as the first player to win the DP World Tour event three times as he emulated
00:35successes here in 2016 and 2017. The last day which was played out in sort of intermittent
00:46rain after some great weather early in the week really was a two horse race between Hatton
00:53and Belgian Nicholas Coulsarts. They came to the last locked together both in similar
01:01position after their tee shots. Hatton went first knocked a little nudge with an iron
01:09up to about three feet. Coulsarts who was closer to the green really had to go with
01:14a putter came up 10 feet short then missed it leaving Hatton with a pretty straightforward
01:21putt if there's such a thing anywhere in golf but even harder here at St Andrews to
01:30clinch victory. Great record here the Englishman he really just rises to the occasion when
01:39he gets to Scotland in this event which is also played at Carnoustie and Kings Barnes.
01:45He's picked up some valuable Ryder Cup points. He's met the requirement now he's a lived
01:50golf player of course. He's met the requirement to retain his DP World Tour membership making
01:57him eligible for next year's Ryder Cup. He's got an appeal pending against fines and suspension
02:05imposed by the DP World Tour but there's no doubt that Luke Donald will want Tyrell Hatton
02:10on his team when Europe defend the Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black in New York in just under
02:18a year's time. Bob McIntyre and Scott Jamieson they were the leading Scots finishing tie
02:24for 25th. Great week here the weather after a horrible weekend last year. Mother Nature
02:35shone on the event this year. Johan Rupert the driving force behind this event really
02:41deserves huge credit for what he brings with this tournament. The players love it. Yeah
02:49it's slow but it's a really terrific golf tournament and the crowds on this occasion
02:55were fantastic. To keep up to date with everything in the golf world log on to Scotsman.com or
