Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here coming to you from
00:06Royal Troon venue for this week's 152nd Open Championship. It's the event's 10th visit
00:15to the Ayrshire venue and of course in 2016 it was a scene of a terrific weekend tussle
00:25between Swede Henrik Stenson and American Phil Mickelson with Stenson coming out on
00:31top to become the first Scandinavian to win a men's major. The defending champion on this
00:41occasion is American Brian Harman and he handed back the claret jug to Martin Slumbers, the
00:48RNA CEO, this afternoon before popping into the media centre for his chat, pre-event chat.
00:58He's feeling pretty good about being back at this event, having produced a sensational
01:04performance at Royal Liverpool last year where he was in command from the halfway stage and
01:12in truth never really looked like being caught. Also in the media centre today was Swede Ludvig
01:18Eberg. He suffered a rare disappointment in his professional career when he squandered
01:24a last round lead in the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club on Sunday. Victory
01:30of course in East Lothian went to Scotland's Bob McIntyre who birdied the final hole rolling
01:38in a 20ft birdie putt to become the first home player to win that event in 25 years.
01:45He was due to be in the media centre himself on Monday but rightly so had a celebration
01:51through in East Lothian before heading here and his press conference will now be on Wednesday.
01:59Big day on Tuesday in the media centre, Tiger Woods among those coming in as well as Rory
02:04McIlroy, John Ram, Bryson de Chambeau to keep up to date with everything about the 150 second
02:10Open by the Scotsman or log on to Scotsman.com.
