00:00There will be no signal shutdown in Cebu City on the eve of Sinulog.

00:05Almost 6,000 personnel will be deployed from various security organizations

00:11for safer security in activities.

00:15This is the report of Jesse Atienza of PTV Cebu.

00:20The personnel from PNP, AFP, BFP,

00:29Philippine Coast Guard, and barangay-tanod will be deployed.

00:34The mission of all will be to unite in the near future of Sinulog.

00:38To ensure security and to ensure that all activities from the Novena Masses in Basilica,

00:46Foot and Fluvial Procession, and Sinulog Grand Parade are safe.

00:50A mass will be organized for all

00:52that will immediately follow the dispatch of security personnel and vehicles

00:58that will be used in responding and patrolling.

01:01We are already very ready.

01:04A lot of hard work has been put.

01:06Our preparations are in full swing.

01:10In fact, our first meeting, we started last October.

01:13And as I always say, what's important now is really the peace and order situation

01:20as well as the safety.

01:21Because again, I'm expecting an overflow of people.

01:24There are a lot of people now.

01:26According to the Cebu City Police Office,

01:28there is no signal shutdown that will be implemented in the Sinulog Festival

01:32based on the recommendation of the local government.

01:36Well, so far, we haven't received any very threatening information

01:44that will pose a threat to the solemnity of the religious activities

01:51and the festivities that may be brought by the cultural events.

01:55But be that as it may, the PNP is considering still beefing up our intelligence monitoring

02:04because we all know, we anticipate that this type of events will attract opportunists.

02:11The deployment of security personnel will start on Thursday

02:15along with the inauguration of the Novena Masses in the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño,

02:20the home of the miraculous child, Santo Niño.

02:24Thousands of devotees are expected to attend the Pilgrim's Center every day.
