00:00Hundreds of barangay officials in Cebu City joined forces to form a group

00:05that is willing to talk about the salary and benefits of barangay workers and volunteers.

00:10Jesse Atchensa of PTV Cebu is in the center of the news.

00:17Before the end of the past 10 weeks,

00:20the barangay captains gathered in the whole province of Cebu

00:25to promote the importance of programs and services in the barangay,

00:30such as gender and development,

00:32and anti-violence against women and children.

00:35Among the discussions,

00:37the Magna Carta was launched for barangay volunteers

00:41to be given the right honorarium.

00:44Because like sad to say,

00:45there are a lot of benefits,

00:47so now the next portion of the lobbying is for next year.

00:51Next year is sad because of the feeling.

00:53Until now, there are only 700 barangay workers a month.

00:58Sit down with a technical working group

01:02especially to help third, fourth, fifth class barangays.

01:08Senator Francis Tolentino also joined the barangay league.

01:13He reminded the officials that the giving of services

01:18as the closest body of justice to the people.

01:41The senator also laid out the new program

01:44that will help the victims of the calamities.

01:47In 2025,

01:49these are the people affected by the calamities.

01:52So to help them,

01:54because of the flood or whatever,

01:57so that the electricity or water won't be cut off,

02:02you can repair the house,

02:04that's the answer.

02:05This is the biggest help of barangay officials

02:09in the whole province of Cebu.

02:11It was won by more than 1,000 barangay officials

02:14from PTV Cebu.
