The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Jan. 8 said that scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will continue to affect most of Southern Luzon and the Visayas from Thursday, Jan. 9, to Saturday, Jan. 11, due to the prevailing shear line.

00:00The cold wind or north-east monsoon will continue to blow in the northern and central Luzon
00:06while the shear line will be affected in the southern Luzon and Visayas.
00:11This is the line where the hot wind is coming from the east,
00:15also known as the easterlies, and the cold north-east monsoon or amiehan.
00:20It is expected that in the northern and southern Luzon,
00:23there will be strong rains that could cause flooding or landslides.
00:28Based on our latest satellite animation,
00:30we do not have any visible typhoons or low-pressure areas
00:33and we do not expect any new weather disturbances for this year in the coming days.
00:40For today, we are still expecting heavy rains in the northern Luzon.
00:43Here in the Bicol Region, it is expected that the shear line will be affected by the hot and cold wind
00:48and it is also expected that the Khezon, Marinduque, and Romblon regions will be affected.
00:53So bring an umbrella if you are going outside
00:55and be careful of the strong rains that could cause flooding and landslides.
01:01Here in the northern Luzon, there is still a strong north-east monsoon or amiehan.
01:07It is expected that there will be light to moderate rains in the Cagayan Valley,
01:12Cordillera Administrative Region, and a large part of the central Luzon,
01:16even parts of Rizal and Laguna.
01:19So make sure that you have an umbrella and bring a cool jacket.
01:24Here in the Ilocos Region, Metro Manila and Calabarzon,
01:29there are partly cloudy to cloudy skies and there is a chance of heavy rains.
01:33While in the Mindoro Provinces, there are partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the morning
01:37but there is a high chance of heavy rains, especially in the Oriental Mindoro,
01:41by the end of the day.
01:43It is expected that the temperature will drop due to the effects of the north-east monsoon and shear line
01:47over most of Luzon.
01:49In Metro Manila, it is possible that the temperature will drop to 22 degrees Celsius.
01:53In Tagaytay, the temperature will drop to 21 degrees.
01:56In the northern part of the province, Tuguegarao, the temperature will drop to 20 degrees
02:00and the hottest temperature is 25 degrees Celsius.
02:03While in the Cordillera Region, between 14 to 15 degrees Celsius is the coldest temperature.
02:10To our fellowmen in Visayas and Palawan,
02:13it is expected that there will be heavy rains due to the effects of the shear line

03:35The temperature here in Metro Davao is between 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.
03:40As of now, our gale warning is only concentrated in Calaguas Islands
03:45and Hilagang Baybayin in Catanduanes, where the waves are still up to 4.5 meters
03:50from morning to evening.
03:52But by the afternoon, it is possible that part of the waves will go down
03:55and our gale warning will be removed in the areas that we mentioned.
03:59However, today and in the coming days,
04:01the waves will continue to rise in Hilagang Baybayin, Luzon,
04:05Silangang Baybayin, Luzon and Visayas.
04:08It will also have a strong effect on Northeast Monsoon
