00:21Angelique, there is good news and bad news about the inflation rate of December 2024

00:31according to the Philippine Statistic Authority or PSA.

00:35Angelique, the price of rice is falling despite the rapid rise in inflation rate in the country

00:44in the past month, according to the PSA.

00:47According to their statistics, in December 2024, the price of rice increased by only 0.8%

00:56in this month compared to November 2024, where the price of eggs, dairy products, corn, bread,

01:10bread and made food, and other food products, according to the PSA.

01:16The inflation rate of the country is 2.9% in December 2024.

01:21It increased by a portion compared to November 2024, where it was 2.5%.

01:27But the inflation rate of December 2024 slowed compared to December 2023, where it was 3.9%.

01:35According to the PSA, some of the factors affecting the inflation rate in the past month

01:41are transportation, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other oil products,

01:48including other vegetables and meat such as chicken.

01:54We are mixed. We have good news in a way.

01:58The weight of rice is substantial. So we are seeing a slowdown.

02:01On the other hand, we are seeing an increase, particularly in vegetables.

02:07As I said earlier, tomatoes are still increasing.

02:10So it can handle the weight of vegetables.

02:15And the critical of course would be the transportation.

02:19The weekly changes in the price of fuels, diesel and gasoline,

02:26because our weight is also substantial there.

02:30Angelica, if we look at the perspective of the bottom-income household,

02:38the small earners, the inflation rate slowed by 2.5% in December 2024

02:47compared to November 2024, where it was 2.9%.
