00:00The unemployment rate in the country is down by 3.9% based on the October labor force survey of the PSA.

00:08The number of people who have jobs in their industry has increased compared to last July.

00:12This is what Rod Lagusan reported.

00:17The Philippine Statistics Authority has recorded a decrease in the unemployment rate.

00:21Based on the data from the October 2024 labor force survey,

00:25the number of unemployed people in the country is down by 3.9% or 1.97 million compared to 4.7% last July or 2.38 million Filipinos.

00:37The number of unemployed people is down by more than 400,000.

00:40According to PSA National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa,

00:46the number of unemployed people is affected by the following typhoons.

00:50The number of jobs in the fisheries and aquaculture industry, which is around 90,000, is particular.

00:57What we can see are typhoons.

01:00Fishermen are cautious to go out because of the storms.

01:08We can see that the typhoon contributed to the subsectors where the number of unemployed people is decreasing.

01:17It is possible that this will also be seen in November due to the continuous increase of typhoons.

01:23But by December, PSA hopes that the situation will improve.

01:27Our activities in December are mostly retail trade, accommodation, and food service activities.

01:37We can see that there is an increase there.

01:42Usually, last quarter, October, November, December, in the past, there was an increase in the number of employed people.

01:50According to this, the number of unemployed people increased by more than 450,000.

01:55From 47.7 million or 95.3% last July, the number of unemployed people is at 48.16 million or 96.1% this October.

02:06The industry of administrative and support service activities, accommodation and food service activities, transportation and storage, and construction has recorded a large number of unemployed people.
