00:00At this point, let's go back to the center of the news of Rod Laguzad about the unemployment rate

00:05that the National Economic and Development Authority announced

00:09that the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr. has terminated

00:13the declined job opportunities for the Filipinos.

00:19The Philippine Statistics Authority has recorded a decrease in the unemployment rate

00:24based on the data from the October 2024 labor force survey.

00:28The number of unemployed in the country is at 3.9% or 1.97 million

00:33compared to 4.7% in July or 2.38 million Filipinos are unemployed.

00:39The number of unemployed has decreased by more than 400,000.

00:42According to PSA National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa,

00:48the impact of the number of unemployed is the next wave of the typhoon.

00:53In particular, the decrease in the number of jobs in the fishing and aquaculture industry

00:57is at 190,000.

00:59What we are seeing are typhoons.

01:02Of course, our fisherfolks are cautious

01:06to go out because of the storms.

01:10And we can see that the typhoon

01:13has contributed to the subsectors where the number of unemployed has decreased.

01:19It is possible that this will also be seen in the month of November

01:22due to the continuous increase of typhoons.

01:25But by December, PSA hopes that the situation will get better.

01:29Our activities in December are mostly retail trade,

01:36accommodation, and food service activities.

01:40We can see that there is an increase there.

01:43Usually, in the last quarter, October, November, December,

01:48in the past, there has been an increase in the number of unemployed.

01:53In this quarter, the number of unemployed has increased by more than 450,000.

01:57From 47.7 million, or 95.3% last July,

02:02the number of unemployed is at 48.16 million, or 96.1% this October.
