A yellow weather warning for snow is in place for Sheffield and much of England this weekend (Jan 4-6, 2025).
Transcript
00:00Morning Sheffield, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star speaking to you on a bitterly cold January the 2nd.
00:062025 is off to a frighteningly cold start so far and I'm afraid forecasters say it's going to stay that way for much of the weekend.
00:13We have a weather warning in place for three days starting this weekend.
00:17That's starting at around midday on Saturday and lasting until 9am on the Monday.
00:21This is a weather warning for snow sadly.
00:23The bitterly coldness you're seeing right now is set to last all weekend and will bring a chance of snow pretty much.
00:29In Sheffield, how that works out is other than just being quite cold for the next week essentially,
00:35Saturday we're going to see a good chance of snow to kick off the day between midnight and 6am sort of area.
00:42So a very good chance of snow overnight but not likely to settle unfortunately.
00:46Well, depends how you look at it.
00:48There's going to be a very good chance of rain to come along pretty much as soon as it's over between maybe up until the 12 o'clock area and ever after.
00:5712 noon onwards on Saturday, a very good chance of rain that's likely to wash away any snow we do have see settle.
01:02So our compensation for this is just a very cold weekend, a very good chance of snow overnight that will be immediately washed away.
01:09And that's our lot for the meantime.
01:12Going to be quite cold.
01:13Weather warning brings travel disruptions and also just check on your neighbours essentially.
01:19Check on your elderly.
01:20It's going to be quite cold this weekend and that's our lot for the meantime.
