00:00Hello there, a very good afternoon to you. This festive season has been less white and
00:05more grey for many of us. Quite overcast skies to start off Boxing Day, particularly across
00:11central southern areas. This cloud has certainly been low enough to provide quite a lot of
00:14mist and murk around, some reduced visibility in places. Some brighter skies for parts of
00:19Wales up towards areas of Durham, but further towards the north we've got this band of rain
00:25in play. There's been a few heavy bursts for Northern Ireland, but into this afternoon
00:29the rain band should slowly push its way further northwards and it will turn drier
00:32here, but for Scotland that rain will be on and off throughout a good portion of the day,
00:36quite damp and drizzly. Away from the far north, maybe up into the Northern Isles, we'll
00:40see a few brighter spells. Parts of North East England should hold on to the best of
00:44the sunshine, but elsewhere, further towards the south, that cloud is really going to infill.
00:48Temperatures slightly on the mild side for the time of year, ranging between 9 and 11
00:53degrees Celsius. As we head into the overnight period, this rain band will still be in play
00:58for Scotland. Again, it's going to be quite a damp, drizzly night to come here. Again,
01:03just pushing slightly further towards the north, across the Highlands, into the Outer
01:06Hebrides, up towards Orkney later on as well. For Northern Ireland, England and Wales though,
01:11that cloud is going to lower. There's going to be a lot of mist and murk around once again.
01:14Hill fog in places, so some reduced visibility as we start off Friday morning. Temperatures
01:20because of that cloud though, are not going to drop too far for most of us, generally
01:24around 6-4 degrees Celsius, but we might just drop into some low single figures in
01:28sheltered rural areas. Do be aware, first thing then, with that mist and murk in play,
01:34that there could be some localised travel issues on Friday morning if you are planning
01:38on travelling at all on the roads or elsewhere. For much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland,
01:43that grey theme is really going to persist right throughout Friday. There could be the
01:47odd spot of drizzle around some hills and coastal districts as well. The rain band in
01:51the north will come and go once again, mainly limited to the far north-west, with eastern
01:55Scotland perhaps now seeing the greatest chance on Friday of a few sunnier spells in there.
02:01Because of the lack of sunshine though, for most of us, temperatures are on a slowly downwards
02:05trend, so most of us now into single figures, but we might just skirt into double digits
02:10for parts of Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and the far north of England as well. There's
02:15going to be very slow progress, very little change in this theme as we head into Friday
02:20evening and even into the weekend, it is going to take quite a bit of time before we
02:24eventually see some slightly brighter spells emerging. That will hopefully come for a few
02:29more north-western sights on Saturday, but it will take until Sunday for the south-east
02:33to see a touch more sunshine in there. It is worth noting though, into the new working
02:37week it is looking like it could turn much more unsettled, particularly across areas
02:41of Scotland, some strong winds, maybe even some sleet and snow around, so it is worth
02:45staying up to date with the forecast as we head towards New Year to see if any of your
02:50plans might be affected from that. We'll have plenty more updates on that across our
02:54social media channels as well here on the YouTube channel, so do subscribe and we'll
02:58see you again here later on. Bye bye.
