00:00COVID-19 VACCINATION
00:04The novelties of the 2025 vaccination calendar
00:07concern several vaccinations.
00:09First of all, there is a new chapter on the COVID-19 vaccination,
00:12because obviously in the last edition the pandemic had not yet broken out.
00:19The COVID-19 vaccine remains an important vaccine
00:22because the disease has not disappeared.
00:24It still affects elderly people in the risk category,
00:29so for people with chronic pathologies,
00:31we must remind them of the importance of other vaccinations.
00:34We reiterate the importance of anti-influenza vaccinations, logically.
00:39The other important new chapter is that of the RSV.
00:43For the RSV, we are currently using
00:46in all Italian children the monoclonal antibody,
00:49which is having considerable success,
00:51therefore also by parents.
00:53It can be integrated into pregnancy vaccination,
00:57and it is important that in the next year,
01:00in the next update of the vaccination calendar,
01:02there will also be vaccines for adults and the elderly.
01:05There is a medical need in the elderly population.
01:08About 20% of influenza syndromes,
01:11with very significant complications,
01:13are due to the RSV, so we must prepare ourselves
01:15so that in the next calendar, next year,
01:17there will also be these vaccines.
01:19Then, we have important calls
01:23for adolescent vaccination against meningococcal B,
01:26which is the most important strain
01:29that affects the adolescent population,
01:31in addition to the pediatric population.
01:33We have two new vaccines for pneumococcal B,
01:3615 and 20 valent,
01:38which must be used by guaranteeing coverage,
01:41in fact by increasing it,
01:43and doing it in the time provided.
01:45HPV is a new chapter that I pay attention to,
01:50because today it seems unacceptable and absurd
01:53that just over half of Italian adolescents
01:57carry out this vaccination
01:59against serious forms of cancer,
02:01and it is a vaccine that works virtually at 100%,
02:04so we must call for a higher adhesion to this vaccination.
02:08The recommended vaccinations
02:10do not have a different dignity
02:12from those of mandatory vaccinations,
02:14but they are just as important.
02:17I am referring to the HPV vaccination
02:19that we have already talked about,
02:21I am referring to the vaccination
02:23against meningococcal meningitis,
02:25against pneumococcus.
02:26These are vaccinations against very serious diseases
02:28that can even lead to death or serious complications.
02:31They are all necessary,
02:33because what we have written in the calendar
02:35is what is based on scientific evidence
02:37regarding the safety and effectiveness of vaccines.
