00:00The Department of Agriculture continues to work to make the price of rice more affordable

00:08through the strengthening of the Rice for All Program and the distribution of Nutri-Rice.

00:15Claisel Pardilla of PTV Live has news for the country.

00:22Alan, it is still a big challenge for the Department of Agriculture to lower the price of rice.

00:28That's why the agency is working hard to make the price of rice more affordable.

00:35The Department of Agriculture will also strengthen the Rice for All Program.

00:40From January, the agency will release TIG 35 to TIG 36 pesos per kilo of rice,

00:47which is called solid rice.

00:49It is cheaper than the TIG 40 pesos of rice that is now sold in Kadiwa Stores.

00:55Solid rice is 100% broken, but the 100% broken comes from the good variety of rice imported.

01:06If there are local sources, we will buy local.

01:09The D.A. of Nutri-Rice will also be involved.

01:11It is worth P36 to P37 pesos.

01:15Aside from the amount, it is also substantial.

01:18Instead of buying three times, they will buy only one.

01:21The regular rice that we buy now is three-pass.

01:25When it is three-pass, all the minerals, nutrients, and fiber are lost.

01:33In one-pass, all the nutrients and fiber are still there.

01:37Your recovery in three-pass is 63%.

01:41Your recovery in one-pass is 78%.

01:44So you produce more rice with the same amount of fat.

01:51The budget of the D.A. is P5 billion for the strengthening of the Rice for All Program

01:57and increasing the number of Kadiwa Stores.

01:59The target is to add 1,200 Kadiwa Stores in each market or barangay.

02:06Currently, there are 300 Kadiwa Centers in the country.

02:10Ten are positioned in markets and four in train stations.

02:16The D.A. will ask for help from the mayors of the NCR

02:19to allow cheaper rice from the Department of Agriculture to enter the markets.

02:25The reception in the markets for the consumers is good.

02:30But the problem is it looks like other markets don't like Market Master.

02:37The retailers are complaining about the rice.

02:41Of course, we sell them at P48 to P52.

02:45I will call all the mayors in Metro Manila.

02:48Although we have eight mayors on board now, we still have another six to seven.

02:54The Agriculture Department will start selling solid rice in January next year.

03:00In the second quarter of 2025, the NutriRice will be allocated.
