00:00Hello there, good morning to you. Welcome to your Monday morning weather update from
00:04the Metafis. It's a mild start to the week for many of us but also quite a blustery one.
00:09You'll see plenty of ice bars on the chart here to indicate some quite gusty westerly
00:13winds. We've also got this cold front that has now stalled its way across areas of Scotland
00:18and will be in place right throughout the day with quite a lot of rainfall totting its
00:22way up for the Highlands, parts of Argyll and Bute as well. A rain warning is in force
00:25so do take care here. Snowmelt as well could add to further water in the river systems.
00:30Generally for Northern Ireland, England and Wales though, it is a drier day to come, a
00:34few showers around, but hopefully we will see some brighter and sunnier skies in there
00:38as well. Temperatures are certainly on the mild side for the time of year, seeing highs
00:43of 11 or 12 degrees Celsius in places. Just something ever so slightly cooler across the
00:48far north of Scotland there, 8 degrees Celsius for Lerwick. This rain band will stay in place
00:53across areas of northern and western Scotland throughout tonight as well. The rain warning
00:57is in force until midday on Tuesday with potentially half a month's worth of rain falling across
01:02some locations by the time we reach that point. Generally a slightly drier night to come for
01:07England and Wales, but we'll start to see a few further areas of rain spread their way
01:10into Northern Ireland towards the back end of the night. Slightly cooler compared to
01:14some previous nights, dropping into single figures for many of us. Coolest though further
01:19towards the east where you do hold on to some clearer skies around there, 5 or 6 degrees
01:23Celsius. On Tuesday itself then we've got an area of low pressure in the Atlantic that
01:28is driving these next areas of rain, particularly for Northern Ireland and eventually Scotland
01:33later on in the day. A few showers for England and Wales, but here you do have the greater
01:38chance of seeing some brighter spells in there as well. Some quite strong gusty winds developing
01:43there with gales around coastal areas in the west particularly, but those winds are coming
01:47in from a southerly direction, so once again it is going to be a very mild day for the
01:52time of year. 10, 11 degrees Celsius as the top temperatures for many of us. And on the
01:58strength of those gusts and where you're underneath the most persistent of the rain, it is not
02:02necessarily going to feel that way, but certainly on the thermometer at least very mild. We
02:07will eventually though see a shift in our wind direction as that low pressure clears
02:12its way off, a northerly wind will start pushing its way in from Thursday onwards and that
02:17is going to feed in some much cooler conditions for all of us. So temperatures certainly dropping
02:22down quite a touch as we head towards the end of this week. We'll have plenty more updates
02:26on that on our YouTube channel with a full week ahead forecast published later on today,
02:30so make sure you're ready and following for that. See you again here later on. Bye bye.
