00:30Hundreds of families in Baseco Compound in Manila received two kilograms of mackerel.

00:36In the presence of the Department of Agriculture and our Customs,

00:41they saw that the documents were incomplete and the payment was incomplete.

00:46That's why the government started the process.

00:50That's how it happened.

02:19That's why we won't allow these kinds of systems to continue.

02:28inspected the container vans

02:30that contained the smuggled fish.

02:32Here, the President gave a directive

02:34to the relevant government agencies

02:36to monitor the implementation

02:38of the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act.

02:41Especially the smugglers who smuggle

02:43to the market in the Philippines.

02:45This is the chain that we need to break.

02:57of the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act.

03:15The smugglers from the 21 containers

03:18that were smuggled into the country

03:20were caught by the Bureau of Customs

03:22because of the lack of documents.

03:24In particular, the sanitary and phytosanitary import clearance

03:28from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources

03:31The mackerels were also found in other parts of the NCR

03:34as well as in Regions 3 and 4A

03:37where 150,000 families are expected to benefit.

03:41In September, the frozen mackerels were caught

03:44and in October, they were inspected

03:46and found to be safe for human consumption.
