Two men pleaded not guilty at the Butterworth Sessions Court on Thursday (Dec 12) to a charge of gang robbery involving more than RM50,000.

K. Sreedharan Naidu and J. Moohilan Naidu, both aged 33, claimed trial before judge Nor Azah Kasran.

00:00Two men pleaded not guilty at the Butterworth Sessions Court on Thursday to a charge of
00:06gang robbery involving more than 50,000 ringgit. K. Sridharan Naidu and J. Muhilan Naidu, both
00:14aged 33, claimed trial before Judge Nur Azza Qasran. According to the charge sheet, the
00:19duo were alleged to have robbed one Syed Jamaluddin Syed Hamid of his car, and money amounting
00:25to 54,000 ringgit with the use of a parang at the Taman Bukit Kacil intersection in central
00:31Sebrang Parai at 12.30pm on December 6. They were charged under Section 395 of the Penal
00:38Code for committing gang robbery, which carries imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping
00:44upon conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Nadia Jamal said the offence is non-bailable.
00:52However, lawyer S. Morgan, who represented both accused, appealed and said his clients
00:58have families to support. Judge Nur Azza then set bail at 10,000 ringgit with one surety
01:04for each accused. She also ordered them to report to the nearest police station every
01:09month pending disposal of the case and set January 15 for case mention.
