Port Vale v Walsall - George Bennett preview
Transcript
00:00Good evening Sadler's fans. I was at Essington earlier today where I spoke to Matt Sadler
00:05ahead of Walsall's crunch clash against Port Vale on Saturday lunchtime. And over 2,000
00:12Sadler's fans are expected to descend on Vale Park ahead of what promises to be a very tasty
00:19encounter indeed. Walsall briefly topped the table on Tuesday night during their 3-2 victory
00:25over Notts County before Ronan Curtis's last gasp equaliser for Port Vale in their 1-1
00:31draw against Cheltenham sent them one point clear at the top of the table. But Walsall
00:37boasted a game in hand on Port Vale when maximum points would send them two points clear at
00:41the top of the table. So very finely poised ahead of this top end tussle. In terms of
00:48injury news, Jamie Jellis missed the midweek win with a calf injury which he sustained
00:52in the 4-0 defeat against Cheltenham Athletic last week. Matt Sadler issued a positive update
00:58on that note. He will assess Jamie Jellis in the build up to the game and probably make
01:04that decision on Friday morning. He's touch and go and is in contention ahead of the weekend.
01:09However, Brandon Connolly suffered a fractured cheekbone in that game which has been operated
01:15on and Matt Sadler is earmarked a potential four to six week absence for him. There was
01:20also a setback for Priestley Farquharson, not been involved because of a thigh injury
01:26since August. He was involved in the warm up in training sessions Matt Sadler revealed
01:32a couple of weeks ago as he continued his road to recovery. However, he has suffered
01:37a major setback. Matt Sadler revealed he went to see a specialist yesterday and is expected
01:44to spend a further two months on the sidelines which takes him up to about March. Elsewhere,
01:50Josh Gordon had a scan a couple of weeks ago and is still on track for a return in mid-January.
