00:00I'm from Perak. My company's name is GK Aquasnembahat,
00:15where this company is working hard to preserve fish farming in Malaysia.
00:21The main issue in fish farming is fertilisation,
00:24where the female ratio is 70% or more,
00:28while the male ratio is only 30%,
00:30and the female can't grow more than 30 or 40 grams.
00:35So that gave me an idea
00:37on how I can use biotechnology
00:40to produce male freshwater prawns.
00:42Welcome to our molecular lab.
00:44My name is Jana.
00:45I'm currently working as a senior R&D manager
00:47in GK Aquas and Sentul Biotech.
00:49So what we do here is,
00:51this is our molecular lab where we do RNAi interference.
00:54RNAi is a drug that we inject into all male freshwater prawns
00:58to make them female.
01:00So this is a process that we do to prepare RNAi,
01:05where we prepare a master mix using an automated pipetting machine.
01:10After openthron, the drug is transferred to the 96-well.
01:14The 96-well will be mixed with our master mix.
01:18We will do a qPCR for validation,
01:22to see if there is a concentration gap.
01:24The chromosome is ZZ,
01:26where ZZ will be a female ZZ.
01:29We will mate the ZZ with a male ZZ,
01:33and in the process,
01:35the female or the male freshwater prawns will become male freshwater prawns.
01:38The initial level of the challenge is funding,
01:40but we are grateful because the government agency,
01:43such as Cradle,
01:44has given us RM2 million
01:46to commercialize our technology,
01:49where we have our own molecular facility,
01:53where we can produce all the things that are involved
01:57in the production of male freshwater prawns.
02:00And recently, we also received funding from BGF
02:04to apply this technology internationally,
02:08where we can IP Malaysian freshwater prawns internationally.
02:12Our hope is that this program will also show our product
02:16as an option for Malaysians.
02:18We hope to receive a reception from Malaysians,
02:22and to make this freshwater prawn brand M-Ross.
02:25So we want to make it a global brand.
02:27Whether we win or lose,
