00:00I think they both have a great point.
00:03Get off me, text line.
00:05He's truly one of a kind.
00:07That is wild.
00:08Oh my God.
00:10And he's doing a great job.
00:12I need you to man up and say what you really want to say.
00:15Simon, you're doing a great job.
00:17Everything.
00:18And together, they are Stiney and Guru.
00:21Yeah.
00:22On 95.7 The Game.
00:25All righty, payday Friday.
00:28Yes, sir.
00:30That makes the rain seem less important.
00:33Because it's here, baby.
00:35Hey, we got a-
00:36Can you stand the rain?
00:39New edition.
00:41Hey!
00:42Right off the bat.
00:44Right off the bat.
00:47Right off the bat.
00:48We'll see.
00:49Hey, anybody else feel like I'm feeling right now?
00:54And here's the way I'm feeling.
00:56Obviously, it's the biggest game of the year
00:57for the Niners this weekend.
01:00Get some Packers and Lambeau Field.
01:02Anybody else feel like it could have implications
01:05that are more important than just this year?
01:09Now that's, when you say that,
01:13I feel like you're saying,
01:14because if they somehow drop this game
01:16and Purdy Camp will play,
01:18which is on brand for this season,
01:20that we're at this juncture, Stiney,
01:22and your most important piece looks like he,
01:24you know, if I had to bet now,
01:25I'm thinking he's not playing.
01:26But you must mean the fallout of not having Purdy
01:30and somehow dropping this game,
01:32going to five and six.
01:33Not necessarily.
01:34I'm thinking if you don't win this game,
01:36whether Purdy plays or not,
01:38and it starts to continue in this way,
01:46and we don't make the playoffs,
01:48do you start looking at this team in a different way?
01:52I mean, I think like if they can put something together,
01:54win five of the last seven, make the playoffs,
01:57win a game in the playoffs,
01:58and then maybe get beat,
01:59then you could make a case that,
02:03you know, with a few tweaks, we get back in it.
02:05But if this thing goes downhill the rest of the year,
02:09and this game this weekend kind of starts
02:12that ball rolling down the hill,
02:17what do you do?
02:18What do you do if you miss the playoffs this year?
02:20If you're the 49ers?
02:22And let's just say the next seven games
02:24resemble the first 10.
02:26Okay.
02:27And you go eight and nine.
02:28Right.
02:29I just, you asked me a question,
02:31I keep it real with you, brother.
02:33I think you look yourself in the mirror and say,
02:37what was the biggest component in us going eight and nine?
02:41And I'm looking at you right now, Stony,
02:43and I got questions galore about this team.
02:46But wouldn't injuries be, to me,
02:4985% of what's gone wrong for the Niners?
02:53So I say that to say is you can look in the mirror
02:56and chalk it up as that.
02:57We get healthy, we come back, and bang.
03:00Or just hearing you talk,
03:02and there's part of me that feels
03:04what I think you're trying to say is
03:06maybe there's bigger issues at hand.
03:08Starting with the quarterback.
03:10No, I think when I look at football,
03:14and I consider injuries,
03:16I look at it a little bit differently than other sports.
03:19You know, a basketball guy gets hurt,
03:21he can come back the next year.
03:23But if this season continues to go like it's going,
03:28and McCaffrey doesn't return to the player he was last year,
03:34and we can tell by the eye test,
03:37and we know Trent Williams isn't having a great year,
03:39and he's been banged up,
03:41and Brandon Aiyuk, we know,
03:44is probably gonna miss summer next year already.
03:47For sure.
03:48And Debo Samuel's having a very down year.
03:53I mean, can you bring back the same team?
03:57Well, what are your options?
03:58Well.
03:59Because you got one at quarterback.
04:00You got plenty of options at quarterback.
04:03There's plenty.
04:05Now, we're talking about some dividends now
04:08since it's payday.
04:10I mean, if you go 8-9, would that change?
04:13Yes.
04:14Because I was Mr. Blank Check.
04:16So you start there, right?
04:17If the 49ers go 8-9,
04:20and Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch are reluctant
04:24to write a 55, $60 million check to Brock Purdy,
04:29That's major.
04:30Then all bets are off.
04:33So we could see possibly a new quarterback
04:35under center for the Niners?
04:36I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.
04:39See, I never thought that was feasible,
04:41but now I can, somebody could talk me into
04:44if it's 8-9 or what have you, 7-10, Stani.
04:48I can't believe I'm there.
04:50Well, my point is this.
04:51If they're 5-5 right now,
04:53and if this thing continues like it's continuing,
04:55and they don't make the playoffs,
04:58what do you do then?
05:00What do you do then?
05:01Do you simply sign Purdy
05:04to a long-term extension at big money?
05:06And how can you bring back the same team
05:11when you know that this team already this year
05:14is a little bit on the old side?
05:16You know what I mean?
05:17Yeah, but I mean, you talked about the influx
05:20of the six rookies, and I'm not saying that,
05:24you know, they're throwing confetti
05:25because they got contributions from those guys,
05:28but to me, Stani,
05:30I guess because they've had so much success when healthy,
05:34I could see bringing it back or trying to run it back,
05:37and maybe Greenlaw's back next year for sure.
05:40I'm not counting on you at all, Stani.
05:42That's a serious, those are injuries,
05:44but only time will tell.
05:47I think that's Cindy Lauper.
05:48I guess what I would ask 49er fans
05:51is what is the significance of this game on Sunday?
05:55Because obviously, it's the biggest game of the year.
05:59Obviously, you're playing an NFC opponent.
06:02Clearly, if you lose this game,
06:04you're in a heap of trouble.
06:05Heap.
06:06It's not over, but it's getting darn close.
06:09The fat lady's warming up.
06:11Exactly.
06:11She's humming.
06:13And so, I do think there's more at stake
06:17for this game than just whether this team's
06:20five and six or six and five.
06:22Okay.
06:22You can't lose this game.
06:23No, you're right, but.
06:24And so, I'm just starting to think a little bit ahead,
06:28and man, this team falls off.
06:33Like, it looks like it's falling off right now.
06:35Then where do you go if you're John Lynch
06:38and Kyle Shanahan?
06:39Okay, and my question to you and the masses,
06:43Stani, if Purdy's unavailable,
06:46regardless if they win or lose this game,
06:48what does that do for his ledger?
06:51Or do they already know and have seen maybe
06:54behind the scenes some warning signs?
06:57Or are they feeling like, you know, Brock has been Brock.
07:01Other things have eroded around us
07:03to where he's looking sketchy or etchy.
07:08I don't know.
07:08What is a non-available Brock?
07:10Like, Stani, if they lose this game,
07:14they're definitely not getting in
07:15outside of winning the division.
07:18And now you're five and six.
07:20I just wonder if Kyle was here and he pulled up on us,
07:23what grade he would give Brock
07:26and what he would tell John right now.
07:29Have things changed?
07:30Do they see warning signs?
07:32Possibly.
07:33Yeah, Kyle, I don't know, Stani.
07:34But you're right, this is the biggest game of their season.
07:38And obviously if Purdy doesn't play,
07:40and, you know, I'm reading this stuff on the internet,
07:43and I'm reading Matt Maioco of NBC Sports Bay Area,
07:47and he said Purdy, quote,
07:49appeared to experience discomfort in his right shoulder
07:55as he threw some passes on Thursday.
07:57The trainer came out, rubbed his shoulder a little bit,
08:02and then Purdy left practice,
08:05went back into the locker room.
08:06Now that ended the window of the media,
08:08then the media was closed to practice,
08:12so it's unclear what happened after that.
08:15But Matt Maioco saying
08:17that he appeared to experience discomfort,
08:20and you parlay that with,
08:22he didn't throw a pass over 20 yards last week,
08:25and we don't know where he got hurt,
08:26or when he got hurt.
08:28And maybe we are dealing with something
08:31a little more serious than we thought
08:32in terms of Purdy's injury.
08:34So if Purdy misses Sunday's game,
08:37then it's just a,
08:40Malcolm X, by any means necessary,
08:43figure out a way to win the game with Brandon Allen or Dobbsy.
08:46Tell me if I'm being too cutthroat for you guys
08:50this Friday, payday morning.
08:52If they got their eyes,
08:54or they feel behind closed doors that,
08:56you know, the possibility
08:58of another quarterback under center,
09:00are you reckless and tell Purdy,
09:03give him the option of the Toradol in the shoulder,
09:05like Trent Williams?
09:06I know it was a different body part,
09:07but I'm thinking Toradol would help the shoulder.
09:10I'm no doctor.
09:12Do you risk running him out there
09:13knowing that there might be a change?
09:16So if, you know what I mean?
09:17Like if he got hurt,
09:19you kind of, you know,
09:22you know how they treat running backs
09:24when you know you're not going to re-sign them,
09:25you just run them in the ground.
09:27I see what you're saying.
09:28I know that sounds cutthroat, but I'm wondering.
09:30Yeah.
09:31If Brock was like, shoot it up.
09:32Yeah, I don't, I don't know.
09:35I think you could probably shoot a shoulder up
09:38to alleviate some pain.
09:39I'm not totally sure.
09:41I mean, I think obviously if Purdy can play,
09:43he's going to play.
09:44But pain, Stiney, on Thursday?
09:46Well, that's something to consider.
09:52But it feels like, and tell me how you guys feel,
09:5549er fans.
09:56It feels like they lose to Seattle,
10:00and they're five and five,
10:02and now they've gone through the week before the Packers,
10:06and it feels more desperate than it did Monday
10:09after the game against the Seahawks.
10:11It feels like there's just so much at stake for this game,
10:15and it could mean more than just the immediate future
10:18of what happens the rest of the year.
