00:00At the opening of the additional station of Light Rail Transit 1,
00:05we are joined by Atty. Hernando Cabrera,
00:09Administrator of Light Rail Transit Authority or LRTA.
00:13Atty. Cabrera, good afternoon to you.
00:17Good afternoon, good afternoon to our viewers, to our listeners.
00:22For the public's information,
00:24what new stations have been opened in the LRT1 Cavite Extension
00:30and what places are linked to these stations?
00:34Well, Nina, the extension of our LRT Line 1,
00:38the end of it, our original line,
00:41to Baclaran.
00:42So we opened an additional five stations.
00:46The first one is what we call the Redemptorist Asiana Station.
00:51This is almost in front of Baclaran Church,
00:55on Meruas Boulevard.
00:56Next is what we call the Mia Road Station.
01:00This is on the corner of Meruas Boulevard
01:05before entering Costal Expressway.
01:07So that is our Mia Road Station.
01:09Third is the PITX Station.
01:12This is located in our Intermodal Station
01:15where our buses are located.
01:18So there will be an Intermodal Terminal.
01:22You can ride a bus, you can ride a train.
01:26The next station is what we call the Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station.
01:31The fifth is the Dr. Santos Station
01:34which we know is Sukat Road.
01:37So those are our five stations.
01:39Good afternoon, Administrator Cabrera.
01:42How many minutes will these routes save on travel time?
01:46And how many additional passengers will be able to ride these new stations?
01:53The trip from Dr. Santos to Baclaran,
02:00if you used to just ride a jeep or any other mode of transport there,
02:06it would take you around 20 minutes to 25 minutes.
02:11In fact, the additional passengers will be around 80,000.
02:23That's the existing ridership of Line 1.
02:29With the help of these new stations,
02:32you said that the traffic will be reduced in the southern part of Metro Manila.
02:39Attorney Cabrera, do you have any data
02:41on how many vehicles or motorists are expected to be reduced on the routes?
02:48Oh, I didn't get my list.
02:54But the good thing about this is that
02:58our projection is that instead of riding a jeep or bus,
03:08there will be more vehicles.
03:10It would really take them to ride a train.
03:16From Dr. Santos to Baclaran,
03:20all the way to EDSA,
03:23and then all the way to Dijose Station,
03:27where there is an interconnection.
03:29You can go down to Dijose Station.
03:32There is an elevated walkway. It's very safe.
03:34You can walk.
03:36It's an elevated walkway. You can switch to Line 2.
03:40And then, the end is what we call Fernando Po Jr. Station.
03:46It's already there in the former Roosevelt, in EDSA.
03:49Can you describe to us
03:51what the looks of the vehicles of our countrymen are like?
03:55Are they new?
03:57How comfortable are they?
03:59And how many can a train ride?
04:04Well, with our extension project here,
04:09the government bought 30 additional trains.
04:15Each train has 4 wagons.
04:17So in total, we bought 120 wagons for this project.
04:24So 120 wagons totaling 230 trains.
04:29These new trains are very modern.
04:33The air-conditioning is very cold.
04:36We saw the inaugural ride of President Bongbong Marcos earlier
04:42from Dr. Santos to the Redemptories Asiana Station.
04:48The big wagons,
04:51if I remember it correctly,
04:55the new wagons,
04:57a train set composing of 4 wagons,
05:02can be ridden by around 1,200 passengers.
05:07Atty. Cabrera, how many stations are expected to be opened
05:11in the LRT-1 Cavite Extension?
05:13And when is it expected to be opened?
05:18The extension we opened is what we call Phase 1.
05:22This is in the Paranaque area.
05:24Phase 2, we will reach Las Piñas.
05:31Phase 3, we will reach Bacoor Cavite,
05:35in the Talaba area.
05:38If you live in that area,
05:40you will see St. Dominic,
05:42where the end of Phase 3 is located.
05:46We will add three more stations,
05:50Sapote Station,
05:52Las Piñas Station,
05:54and the end of St. Dominic Station.
05:59All right.
06:00When will we ride that, Arnel?
06:02You can try it.
06:04It looks like the new trains are beautiful.
06:07Thank you very much for your time,
06:09Atty. Hernando Cabrera,
06:12Administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority or LRTA.
