00:00A 20-year-old and completely blind athlete, Andrea Estrella, made history at the Spartan

00:14Andrea Estrella became the first blind female to conquer the Spartan Trifecta, which consisted
00:20of three different distances, an obstacle race over three days, and emerged as the silver
00:25medalist of the female para category.
00:28Estrella and her coach guide Ron Alcantara clocked 10 hours, 29 minutes, and 14 seconds
00:33in the race that featured the Spartan sprint of 5 kilometers with 20 obstacles first day,
00:39the Spartan super of 10 kilometers with 25 obstacles on day two, and the Spartan beast,
00:45a 21-kilometer event with 30 obstacles that included walls, bucket carry, balance beam,
00:51and monkey bars.
00:52Tamara Jansen of the Netherlands bagged the gold medal as finished the race three hours
00:57ahead of the Filipina.
00:59Estrella, whose participation is supported by the Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation,
01:04told RP2 Sports that she is overwhelmed with her silver medal win, which proved that this
01:09ability is not a hindrance to what a person can do and that obstacles are part of life
01:16that needs to cross and finish.
01:18Estrella, who hails from Quezon City, is a college student taking up Bachelor of Elementary
01:23Education, major in Special Education.
01:27Meanwhile, four other Pinoy para-OCR athletes finished the race and had respectable finishes.
01:33Calib Seam Jr. placed fourth, Renzon Embradura was fifth, Mark Joseph Cacidcid was sixth,
01:40while Ken Tumangan ended seventh among 11 male para-competitors.
