But with a rising of cost-of-living, more people are opting for a tree-change in search of a country lifestyle and cheaper housing. While it is having some unexpected benefits for their families.

00:25The Greens discovered Silverton during a caravan trip across the state.
00:29They arrived to find their future home up for sale.
00:33She let us stay for a couple of nights, sort of test drive the house, stayed in, walked
00:36around, met a couple of the locals and just sort of went from there.
00:40The couple has been living in Silverton since August and have adjusted to days filled with
00:44gardening, catching up with locals and the occasional drink at the nearby pub.
00:50The move has also helped their daughter who is struggling to find a place to live.
00:55One thing that we could do was if we got a house that was still in our price range
00:59we could keep the family home still and she could use it and look after it and she'd have
01:05safety there.

01:10employment and lifestyle reasons, housing affordability is increasingly becoming a key

01:26She puts in lots of hours and she's worked really, really hard but there's always having
01:32your children and the expenses with that and food.
01:36The couple now runs a cafe in the remote town and say the locals in Wakanya have made them
01:41feel more than welcome.
01:43The people are just beautiful in this town, their hearts, they come out, they smile all
01:47the time and they're just happy to see you and I think food's to their heart as well.
