00:00DIGESTIVE HEMORRAGIES
00:04We talk very little about digestive hemorrhages.
00:07However, it is a serious event,
00:10increasing due to the aging of the population,
00:13the increase of fragility, comorbidity and drug abuse,
00:17potentially harmful to the digestive system.
00:20To deal with the hemorrhagic emergency, training is essential.
00:24And in fact, with this mission,
00:26CHESSYED, the Italian digestive endoscopy company,
00:29organizes the annual CHESSYED national course,
00:32which for the 2024 edition is entitled
00:35Digestive Hemorrhages, 51 shades of red.
00:39We have reached about 700 registrants,
00:42of which the vast majority is represented by young doctors,
00:46gastroenterology specialists and digestive endoscopy.
00:51Of these 700 registrants, 105 were the study bags
00:56assigned to under-35s,
00:59therefore young doctors who have recently entered the world of work,
01:03to whom the training is directed, as I repeat,
01:08on a topic, the topic of digestive hemorrhages,
01:11which is a very transversal topic.
01:13The incidence of digestive hemorrhages of the upper tract
01:16is 130-150 people every 100,000 inhabitants per year.
01:21The incidence of hemorrhages of the lower digestive tract
01:24varies from 20 to 30 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per year.
01:28Mortality in the emergency room for digestive hemorrhages
01:31is similar to that of a heart attack.
01:33What are the most important challenges?
01:36I believe in training.
01:40And then the other challenge is to work with institutions
01:45to always try to have the most up-to-date tools,
01:50the most essential devices,
01:54so that the endoscopy really replaces surgery a lot,
02:00with certainly better outcomes,
02:04just think about reducing emergency days.
02:07Digestive endoscopy today is characterized
02:10as a minimally invasive method,
02:13extremely useful and capable of solving many problems.
02:17The endoscopy is always aimed at hemorrhagic emergencies.
02:22Today we have available technologies, filters,
02:26false colorings, virtual colorings,
02:29which allow us to improve in terms of timing and efficiency,
02:35and therefore also in terms of public health costs.
02:39The diagnosis in acute cases of hemorrhages
02:43is therefore also aimed more quickly at a therapeutic discourse.
