00:00He used to be an overseas Filipino worker, but because of the hardship of living abroad,
00:04he decided to go home to the Philippines, to Steward Fantilaga,
00:08and started a business of a junk shop that later became a roofing services business.
00:13Let's find out his business story right here in Negosya Tayo.
00:18Hi, I'm Steward Fantilaga.
00:20We supply and install all metal bars for fabrication, residential, and commercial.
00:25We also offer rope and trusses renovation and spandrel.
00:31Six years abroad as an OFW in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Alcobara.
00:37It's hard to live as an OFW.
00:39Actually, we experienced it.
00:41I was an admin of an OFW racket so that we can earn more.
00:46We sell blood. It's true.
00:48We know nurses in hospitals who need blood.
00:52So, we sell it.
00:55It's embarrassing, but this is the reality.
00:58Not all OFWs are happy.
01:01It's sad, but we do it for the family.
01:05We started a junk shop on July 30, 2015.
01:11I came home from abroad to the Philippines to process documents,
01:16but I couldn't go back.
01:18After six months, my wife encouraged me to focus on my work.
01:23My wife encouraged me to focus on scrap metal,
01:26such as bones and fish bones.
01:29There are slum areas around our market.
01:34We started selling cheap iron online.
01:37We received a lot of calls.
01:39We received a lot of surprises.
01:41From junk shops, we deliver to the greenhouse, and so on.
01:45We saw the need.
01:48In 2019, I trained the extra workers to supply and install.
01:55The challenge now is that there are a lot of plants that are selling.
01:59So, I trained them to create a page.
02:02We posted our services.
02:05That's what we did.
02:07Then, suddenly, there was a pandemic.
02:09But I didn't lose hope because God has provided.
02:14And through that pandemic time,
02:16God blessed us with COVID facilities.
02:23I was happy.
02:25Through the help of our clients,
02:28and referrals,
02:30our clients are still there.
02:34First of all, I became grateful.
02:37I became able to help.
02:39I feel close to the working students.
02:42One of my teachers is now a graduate.
02:44Our life has changed because I was able to help a lot.
02:48I was able to pay my debts.
02:50I was able to buy a house.
02:52I was able to buy a car.
02:54To the OFWs,
02:56don't be afraid to start up.
02:58Start up a business.
03:01When will you decide?
03:03If you're still young and you can start a business,
03:07decide to start a business.
03:09To all people,
03:11I know that poverty is not permanent.
03:14They say,
03:16it's not your fault that you were born poor.
03:18But if you die of poverty,
03:20you'll have a problem with yourself.
03:22To the OFWs,
03:24save up and start up a business.
03:26Think about it.
03:27And I'm sure that God will bless us.
03:29In Deuteronomy 8, verse 18,
03:32that God gives us the power to acquire wealth.
03:35It's not bad to start a business.
03:37So, let's start up a business!
