00:23I'm Evan Maranofsky.
00:24That's Connor Ryan.
00:25Connor, what is up?
00:28Evan, I'm doing well.
00:29How you doing?
00:30Doing great.
00:31Doing great.
00:32Just got back from Nashville.
00:34Caught a Predators game on Saturday night.
00:37Caught the Patriots game at Nissan Stadium on Sunday.
00:41Very disappointing result, but Drake may pass with like no time on the clock.
00:48Very electric.
00:49I gotta say.
00:50Very incredible play to watch live.
00:52Stunning, to be honest.
00:54I mean, listen, I'll take the Patriots losing these games, but it's entertaining and like
00:58you're seeing the progress and supposed to like last year where they lost like felt like
01:03they lost game six, nothing.
01:04I'll take games like that where they're always in, always in the thick of things.
01:08You deal with the rookie quarterback going through the growing pains, but he's going
01:12to throw the ball like that and run the ball especially.
01:15I'll take it.
01:16There's a glimmer of hope, which I will take at this point, Evan.
01:19I agree.
01:20I agree.
01:21Really cool to see.
01:23I must say about Bridgestone Arena and again, Predators game on Saturday night on Broadway,
01:29you think, all right, this play is going to be jumping.
01:31They give out rally towels.
01:34Kind of dead.
01:35Kind of dead inside.
01:37It just wasn't.
01:38It wasn't that great.
01:39It was a fun atmosphere.
01:40Country music plays in the intermissions and it's, you know, very country, which is awesome.
01:44Good for them.
01:45Have their own identity.
01:46Just the fans weren't that into it.
01:48I mean, it was like a library at times and that Titans game and I know the two teams
01:52dunk.
01:53So like, whatever.
01:54But even that, like, you know, you go to the bars at like 10 a.m. because the game's at
01:5812 and you think, all right, people are going to be all raring to go.
02:02It's like that was even quieter.
02:03You could talk to people at the other end of your section without having to raise your
02:07voice.
02:08So it just wasn't the greatest of atmospheres at either game.
02:11Very fun time.
02:12I'd never been in Nashville.
02:13I will say that the best thing I got out of it, Connor, the best thing, the best thing
02:17I got.
02:18A cowboy hat, a cowboy hat out of it on Friday night, it was 30 bucks.
02:26I was going to say, was that was that an ill-advised Broadway?
02:30Yeah, it was.
02:31It was.
02:32It was 30 bucks.
02:33It did.
02:34Morgan Wallen throw like throw like an ottoman at your head and that was like his way to
02:37pay you back.
02:38You must buy it.
02:39Yes.
02:40I got a cowboy hat.
02:41And yeah.
02:42Well, because we went into the store and they had like the it was cowboy boots and it was
02:46like buy one, get two free.
02:48And so you're like, oh, we could split one pair for the price and I'll get our own.
02:53That would be really stupid, though.
02:54But then they have these hats.
02:55They were 30 bucks.
02:56And I said, you know what?
02:57Get a little.
02:58Yeah.
02:59So for you.
03:00I did.
03:01I got it.
03:02I got a cowboy hat.
03:03So there you go.
03:04That's what I that's what I've got.
03:06It's I don't know what I probably will never wear this again, ever imagine I would.
03:11You never know.
03:12You never know when you might need it.
03:14Who knows?
03:15It's good.
03:16It's good to always have that option available.
03:18So I will.
03:19I won't begrudge you for adding to your soulmates like it's like a GTA closet, like you need
03:24like all sorts of things depending on what the situation arises in Liberty City.
03:29You never know what you're going to need strolling the streets of Brighton.
03:32You don't you don't know that.
03:34So yeah, maybe get the cowboy hat going for a game or two here or there.
03:37I will say, though, speaking of Cowboy Bruins, Cowboy up recently won their last two games
03:42on the weekend.
03:43But the biggest news, as we record this on Monday night, Tyler Johnson, they finally
03:48signed Tyler Johnson one year, seven hundred and seventy five thousand.
03:54I think we've all kind of been waiting for when this will happen.
03:58It finally does make sense.
04:00I was not at practice on Monday.
04:03I was in the air, but I did read that he was the number two center at practice.
04:10But again, I think, you know, he's like sort of utility guy.
04:13And I wonder, is he the next Danton Heinen is sort of a guy that's looking to prove himself
04:17again and and fit anywhere in that top nine?
04:21Yeah, I mean, I think the Bruins are hoping he's the next in line in terms of a guy that
04:25gives you 17 goals and, you know, thirty five plus points on the league minimum deal.
04:32And again, you look at what he did last year, scored 17 goals with the Blackhawks over sixty
04:36seven games.
04:38I get that some of those numbers were kind of juiced up a little bit because he was on
04:41the top power play unit on a admittedly very, very bad Chicago team.
04:46But I think you look at just how much this current Bruins team has to work for offense
04:51right now, especially in that middle six.
04:54I think bringing in a guy like Tyler Johnson can only help you there.
04:57He's a guy, you know, he's not what he was a few years ago with Tampa Bay, but he's still
05:01a savvy veteran who has, you know, some skill, can do a lot of little things, can play down
05:08the middle, can play on the wing.
05:10So whether that's you putting him down the middle on the third line, or I think probably
05:15considering I think just how good or maybe how encouraging the underlying numbers are
05:20for a guy like Matt Bottra, I'd rather have Johnson be the guy that you put in on on the
05:25wing on the third line and see what he can do there or even the second line.
05:28If you're looking for a guy that maybe can mesh more with a player and maybe he replaces
05:34Brazzo on the second line, and I think Brazzo's playing at a high level, but maybe a guy like
05:38Johnson's more suited for the Martian coil kind of grouping there, it just gives you
05:43options here, the Bruins.
05:44And when you look at the body of work that Johnson has submitted during his time with
05:49Tampa and Chicago, and just again, how hard pressed it is for the Bruins right now to
05:54generate offense, doesn't help bringing a guy like that into the mix and seeing what
05:57he can ride because it gives you probably a better chance you have than what you have
06:01right now, especially in that middle six group.
06:04Yeah, I think that's the biggest thing with Tyler Johnson in that I think one of the big
06:08criticisms we had for the Bruins early on and sort of some of their struggles was just
06:12no second efforts, no third efforts for sure, lack of compete at times.
06:18He's the guy who's going to bring it.
06:19I mean, this is a vet.
06:20This is a Stanley Cup champ.
06:21This is a guy who has a lot of pride kind of signing this deal as sort of a prove it
06:26type deal.
06:28He's older.
06:29He's well into his thirties, but I still think that that energy, that effort is going to
06:33be there.
06:34And I think he brings that and I think that he's going to be an interesting piece as to
06:39where he fits.
06:40I know you mentioned maybe working with guys like Martian and coil.
06:43I also don't mind him with Patra in being a sort of veteran presence for him and sort
06:48of a guy that Patrick can learn from and look up to.
06:51And I know we've said a lot that this is not the same Tyler Johnson that you're getting
06:55from like Tampa Bay a couple of years ago where, you know, he tormented the Bruins and
06:59he was all, you know, a stalwart on those, on those teams.
07:04But still has the pedigree from winning and all those things.
07:08So I like the signing.
07:10We said all off season, you know, go get the next Danton Heinen.
07:14This seems like he could be that definitely going to play center more than Danton Heinen
07:19would.
07:20Although I was always curious, NHL, EA Sports, NHL for a long time, always had Heinen as
07:24a default sentiment.
07:25And I never understood that.
07:26I was like, he doesn't play center really ever.
07:28But I think Johnson gives you a lot of utility in that, in that top nine.
07:33And I think that's what they need in terms of things they needed.
07:36They needed a win over Philly on Saturday and they really needed a win over Seattle
07:42on Sunday.
07:43They get both of those.
07:44We're not going to talk a lot about that Thursday night game, the game that shall not be mentioned.
07:48Oh boy.
07:49Oh boy.
07:50I thought we were getting some pretty bad news over that weekend based on, or again,
07:56if to your point, if they didn't bounce back with those games against the Flyers and the
08:01Kraken, who knows where we'd be on this Monday in terms of what exactly we're bringing down.
08:06Cause I felt like something was, something had to give based on just how much the team
08:10really regressed from that win over Toronto a little bit earlier in the week.
08:15So yeah, that there's the game bad, not great, not, not good.
08:19But I will say, uh, I was fully expecting them.
08:23We always used to have that joke with you about how when you were flying, uh, Bruins
08:27news would always break.
08:28I fully expected that when I was flying on Friday that I would land and like there would
08:33be, you know, a million tweets, Jim Montgomery fired by the Bruins.
08:36Not quite though.
08:37Uh, and again, the Bruins beat the Flyers three, nothing on Saturday, beat the Kraken
08:41two, nothing at home on Sunday, two shutouts, Corpo Salo gets Saturday, Swayman gets Sunday.
08:46Um, you know, they're meh teams.
08:50Yeah.
08:51Yeah.
08:52Yeah.
08:53Yeah.
08:54Yeah.
08:55Yeah.
08:56Yeah.
08:57Yeah.
08:58Yeah.
08:59Yeah.
09:00Yeah.
09:01Yeah.
09:02Yeah.
09:03Yeah.
09:04Yeah.
09:05Yeah.
09:06Yeah.
09:07Yeah.
09:08Yeah.
09:09Yeah.
09:10Yeah.
09:11Yeah.
09:12Yeah.
09:13Yeah.
09:14Yeah.
09:15Yeah.
09:16Yeah.
09:17Yeah.
09:18Yeah.
09:19Yeah.
09:20Um you.
09:21Got good, gold-sounding, both nights like to me, that's kind of what you're going to
09:24need going forward.
09:25If you want to keep this up.
09:26Yeah.
09:27I mean, oh, oh, when's when obviously, especially when this team just feels like it's been really
09:31rudderless for the last couple of weeks, but I think one thing we talked about Evan, you
09:35know, the last couple of weeks when this team has really been struggling.
09:38It's not.
09:39Just the baseline results the losing these games, uh, letting lead slip away, being unable
09:45to generate offense.
09:46about how this team just doesn't have an identity and it does feel like you know
09:49they're not a finished product of course they're still haven't really put together
09:53a 60-minute effort even with some of these games where they've won but you're
09:58at least seeing I think guys buy in and as you said even though they still have
10:03to work on getting more offense out of this group may not be pretty may not be
10:07the most riveting brand of hockey but they're doing things that protecting the
10:10net front taking care of the puck which we'll get to that in a minute but you
10:16know they're playing to their strengths I think this is obviously going to be a
10:19team that was going to be anchored by their defense their zone defense how
10:24layered they are their goaltending and I think you're seeing the start of that
10:28and I think you're seeing also guys just buy into you know whether it's guys who
10:32have been in scoring slumps take steps forward you have Charlie Coyle with that
10:36power play goal on Sunday Leslie Gomez points in two straight games now you know
10:43Trent Frederick steps up fights Adam Larson after he he rocks Matt Potter
10:48which feels like that's a becoming kind of a regular occurrence of Matt Potter
10:51getting rocked which is slightly yeah but I think you're seeing you know
10:55whether it's the identity of the team guys that you need just a little bit
10:59more juice from step up all across the lineup things are at least turning in
11:05the right direction and I mean you look at Jim Montgomery and his comments on
11:09practice on Monday he was asked about all right you've won two games in a row
11:13now do you feel like you know you're not really feeling the pressure do you feel
11:17maybe more validated when you look at the way the team has responded with
11:20these wins over Philly and Seattle he was like no we're not we're not there
11:25yet we're not you know I don't feel vindicated or validate whatever the word
11:28is whatever V word you want to throw out there they're still you know he
11:33mentioned they're still not a 60-minute team there's still stretches of the game
11:36where you want to burn the tape but they're at least running in the right
11:40direction now you have to sustain that they've won two in a row but we saw that
11:44over time went against Toronto where you're like all right the feels like
11:48they're riding the ship here they're they're in the right direction and then
11:51they have two ugly games against the Flyers and the Hurricanes so it's all
11:57about building that game it's not gonna be perfect you're gonna have I'm sure
12:00stretches on Tuesday where the Bruins are gonna look like they're hemmed in
12:03their own end against a very skilled Toronto team but it's all about I think
12:06just having guys buy in all across the depth chart and as we've noted like this
12:13team isn't a finished product but if you stick to that identity of being a
12:16defense first team a team that can wear guys down and you play to those strengths
12:21more often than not you're going to gut out a couple of these these wins that's
12:25right now when things are kind of misfiring all over the depth chart gonna
12:29stick to your strengths and do that just to stay afloat in the standings
12:33at least out of the gate yeah it's interesting I always wonder and the
12:37Bruins haven't dealt with this a lot and I've kind of wondered this over the past
12:40couple weeks of like is this just a team starting poorly they need time to gel
12:45and you know at some point they're gonna you know break out and be good and it's
12:50like oh they overcame this huge hurdle at the start of the year their coaches
12:53on the hot seat they got over it we don't know yet if that's what this is
12:58based off those two wins we just don't but it is encouraging that they got
13:03those two wins it's encouraging they got them in the ways that they did shutouts
13:06and good defense and all that stuff and then they also signed Tyler Johnson and
13:11to me it almost feels like you sort of hit your low Thursday with that horrible
13:15loss Carolina which reminds me of the one from 2022 when they lost like I
13:19think was like six nothing at home which was an also a terrible game and now
13:24you're starting to go up a little bit and I wonder how much this continues so
13:28they play Toronto Tuesday night in Toronto which will obviously be a big
13:30game anything else happening Tuesday Connor I forget Tuesday anything else
13:33the NFL trade deadline Evan I believe that's right that's right okay yes
13:40that's what the Bruins game will serve as a nice distraction from the fact yes
13:43the Patriots will are not good this year that's exactly what it's gonna do yes
13:47and then their whole they host Calgary Thursday in Ottawa Saturday if you can
13:53get that win against Toronto or at least just play really well but get the
13:58way and then you Calgary in Ottawa like that gives you an opportunity to sort of
14:02get right and continue on this trend I want to continue talking about what the
14:06Bruins need to do going forward because one player was a little bit in the dog
14:10house on Sunday little grocery stick action but first quick word from our

15:53mentioned the games coming up Toronto Calgary Ottawa that are gonna be big for
15:57the Bruins I think the player who's gonna have to be the biggest in
16:01especially that Toronto game is David Pasternak Pasternak did not play a shift
16:06in the third period against Seattle on Sunday made a brutal turnover on a power
16:11play against Seattle Montgomery had seen enough said you're done and that was it
16:17and Montgomery didn't really go into it much after the game
16:20Pasternak obviously took responsibility for it on Monday at practice I like this
16:27move because Pasternak we've talked about this for a week or so now you know
16:31again leading goal scorer for them so you know obviously makes the money to
16:37you know to do exactly that but the play away from the puck the play with the
16:41puck turnovers things like that have been you know pretty active over the
16:45last couple weeks I like this move clearly shows that Montgomery you know
16:51is taking a much different approach with this year's team we saw it last year a
16:54little bit we saw it with Pasternak in the playoffs but again I you know I
17:00think it would Montgomery on the ropes I like this move yeah I mean I think if
17:06you're Montgomery you've got nothing left to lose right in terms of at this
17:11point where you just look at the pressure that's put on you the
17:14expectations of this roster the fact you don't have the contract like again this
17:18is the environment the Bruins have more or less kind of cooked up when you look
17:22at just what you know what they were going into this year with that contract
17:26uncertainty like you had to expect that if they got off to a slow start which
17:31was perfectly reasonable when you look at how many new pieces were added to
17:35this roster you knew this was going to be a narrative if things were gonna
17:39start slow out of the gate so if you're Montgomery yeah you're putting the
17:42pressure on your your top you know goal scored and your franchise player to step
17:46up and again like you look at the turnovers and you could make the case
17:50right that a lot of very offensively gifted forwards who have the puck a lot
17:55are going to make turnovers you look at over the years the guys that usually
18:00lead the league internal or giveaways are usually the McDavid's the McKinnon's
18:06even like Crosby I think is right behind Pasternak this year so it kind of does
18:11come with the territory but as you said I think when you look at Pasternak and
18:15some of the decisions with the puck especially where I think he's so
18:18valuable to this team especially early on as kind of your main conduit on
18:23offense like the Bruins have had stretches throughout the years you know
18:28even when they've got off these really strong stats last couple years where you
18:32have new guys in place you're trying to find the chemistry and David Pasternak
18:36is going off for like you know 18 points in his first 10 games and it's keeping
18:40you afloat early on as you're trying to find your footing and again he's got
18:43what 11 points in 13 games like he's been solid but he's got one 5 on 5 goal
18:48the chemistry hasn't been there with Lindholm and there's been stretches on
18:52the power play where they're misfiring where a lot of it is again Pasternak
18:57making bad decisions with the puck and again like you you roll with the punches
19:01at times when you look at a guy that's so creative and impact on the offensive
19:05zone but you gotta tighten things up just a little bit there so yeah I think
19:09when you look at Montgomery in the situation he's in the state of the
19:12Bruins offense and the fact you just need more from a guy you know this is a
19:16guy that's 28 years old is a veteran leader of this team I'm all for
19:21Montgomery putting the you know firing kind of a shot across the bow there if
19:25you're if you're him and trying to wake up your guy that you go into this match
19:29up against Toronto on Tuesday you probably have a pretty pissed off
19:32motivated David Pasternak which you hope that results in him having a signature
19:37game against Toronto and not a must-win game but a game that again all of a
19:41sudden you win three in a row on the road against Toronto you're feeling
19:44pretty good about the direction of where this team is going yeah and again last
19:49time he did it it worked in the playoffs last year prior pretty well in
19:52a big way I also like mentioned Lindholm and I do wonder when does that chemistry
19:58click like Lindholm was brought here for a lot of reasons but chief among them
20:02was kind of being the guy for Pasternak down the middle you put soccer on the
20:06left on paper it made the most sense in the world we talked about it all off
20:10season it made a lot of sense hasn't been there so far and again maybe kind
20:15of goes back to what I said earlier of like good things take time and this
20:18team hasn't been you know together for that long certain guys there's a lot of
20:22turnover over the last two years things happen but I just wonder when
20:27Pasternak gets that duo going because I think he's gonna end up being sort of
20:31the driver of that and and I just that's the other thing that's been missing is
20:37sort of Lindholm's production over the last month has dried up almost
20:41completely especially after those first three games he had five points in three
20:46games and then after that went on a seven game pointless streak and just has
20:49not been what they need at all out of him so I think that kind of goes hand in
20:54hand with Pasternak but I also don't think you're gonna call out Elias Lindholm
20:57just over a month into his like a team that he just signed on to for seven
21:01years you're not gonna be like yeah it's two months end of the end of November
21:05he'll be he'll be the next grocery stick but for now it'll it'll be David
21:10Pasternak and I agree like the turnovers have been you know a lot there been a
21:15good amount of them and it's carelessness and body language and all
21:19that stuff and I think that that's been a been a huge thing with him it's like
21:24the you know having a guy in baseball who strikes out look 200 times but he
21:29hits like 48 home runs and it's like Kyle Schwarber right like it kind of
21:35comes with the territory but there's an extreme like a Kyle Schwarber or like an
21:39Adam Dunn and like a Willie Mopena who strikes out like 250 times but it's like
21:4316 home runs like you deal with it the guys you know hits 48 dingers you deal
21:48with the giveaways for Pasternak if he gives you a 48 to 60 goals but you have
21:53to tighten up just a little bit here if you're yeah yeah and as you said earlier
21:57sorry for the sorry for the Willie Mopena slander too by the way no we're
22:01we're pro Willie Mopena podcast yeah we don't sound like it for my pot but I'm
22:05very sorry Willie I know you're a loyal listener we just have we have that kind

23:36what time is it it's game time now back to the show so on Sunday Charlie Coyle I
23:43really liked what I saw from him great play on I think it was Brazos goal in
23:49front the tip from Zdorov Coyle gets no credit as he was the third guy to make
23:54the pass so doesn't get credit for it then scores a really nice power play
23:57goal later in the game he's someone that was a huge disappointment through the
24:03first 10 or so games I think getting him up with a game like that against
24:08Seattle playing well playing the way that we know he can and I'm not saying
24:12you know he's gonna have a goal and you know and I said he's not gonna be a you
24:15know point-per-game guy we get that but just making that impact making those
24:19little plays puck protection all that stuff hasn't been there so far to see it
24:23there on Sunday I think it's a really encouraging thing yeah I think it just
24:27night and day when you look at just when he can impact the game how key he is and
24:31you can make the argument as to what Charlie Coyle's ceiling is with this
24:34team is he more of a really good third line center is he a fringe second line
24:39center wherever it is when he's on his game and it's kind of goes back to even
24:44his first few years when maybe the points weren't there but you look at
24:47just how he impact shifts and how great he is in the offensive zone he's
24:52obviously developed into a really good two-way center man since he's been here
24:54as well but when he's engaged in making plays happen whether it's again results
25:00in a goal like the game on Sunday against the Kraken or maybe just a
25:03little play that isn't rewarded on the statute but leads to a goal from Brazzo
25:07when he's making plays happen the rest of it's kind of the domino effect the
25:11rest of the forward group as kind of disjointed as it is does feel like it
25:16falls into place a little bit more so you really hope that a guy like Coyle
25:19can build some of that momentum moving forward just because he is such a key
25:22piece when you have there up front it he is and I think you know that's been a
25:28kind of an eyesore with this team yeah through the first month is just like you
25:33know you need more out of him they've struggled to sort of find where he fits
25:37he's gone down to the third line at times and you know there's so much more
25:41there like that's the other frustrating part someone else who's who's been
25:46impressive at least just in terms on the on the stat sheet over the last couple
25:50of games not just these two but he scored more often as Justin Brazzo
25:53scored twice this weekend has sort of started to pick up where he left off
25:57last year good net front guy who can tip pucks in knock in rebounds good
26:03hands like I think also getting him back to form is another trend and I think
26:08it's another reason why I wonder if this is the Bruins starting to go up where
26:12it's like alright everybody was in their worst-case scenario for a long time now
26:17Coyle and Brazzo are finding it you know can Frederick then find it can Lindholm
26:21can Pasternak Marcian's been scoring a teeny bit more I know he had two against
26:26Carolina and then he had the empty netter on on Saturday so again not the
26:31greatest to go off of but even him like I wonder if this is Brazzo sort of
26:36finding his game and if he can be a guy that can fit in the top six somewhere
26:40yeah I mean you look at just where his strengths of his game are right like if
26:45a guy like Nick Ritchie can almost get 20 goals for what he provides right like
26:50I think like price I was a little bit more skill in that regard like they're
26:53both at the net front but you look at just I think how effective Brazzo is it
26:58you know hold on to the puck in tight areas his nose for the net screening
27:03goalies all those things he's not reinventing the wheel he's not doing
27:07anything different he's not changing his game from maybe the promise that you
27:11know Bruins fans saw from last year but he does what he does really well and I
27:16think when you look at this Bruins team and one of the flaws for this group out
27:20of the gate has been the lack of quality grade a looks if you had a 6-5
27:24winger like Brazzo who's gonna be at the net front who's gonna be you know
27:28screening goalies doing the little plays like that the chances are gonna be there
27:33and I think you look at the Bruins have also been hampered up quite a bit by a
27:36lot of guys shooting way below their shooting percentage so you expect that
27:41to rebound and for the scoring to maybe uptake a little bit but it sure helps
27:45when you have a guy like Brazzo down at the net front making things happen so
27:48he's not doing what he's doing the chances are gonna be there and more and
27:52more you're gonna see more guys cash in whether that is him you know again much
27:56like coil maybe doesn't lead to a secondary assist but if he's down to the
28:00net front causing chaos more pucks are gonna be flying into the net yeah and I
28:04think that's the thing is like what he can be is exciting and we saw that at
28:07the end of last year and you've seen it over the last couple of games so
28:12Montgomery this is an interesting thing I mean again like we've talked a lot
28:17about him over the last couple weeks you know what are the chances that he
28:23lasts through the year is he the long-term fit really looked like if they
28:28didn't win on Saturday and or Sunday that he would be gone I did see that
28:33Elliot Friedman on 32 thoughts said that Sweeney was not with the Bruins on the
28:37road he was at different games this weekend so Elliot kind of alluded to
28:43maybe Sweeney didn't look at this as like a do-or-die weekend for his job
28:48security for Montgomery's job security but even then I mean to see sort of the
28:53outpour of questioning of oh is this guy gonna be here much longer again I
28:58mentioned it at the start like you have Toronto coming up you have Calgary of
29:01Ottawa like that is a great opportunity to get right now on the other end of
29:05that if they lose two of three or if they lose three of three or if you know
29:11they just have this really really bad performance in there I wonder if
29:14Montgomery goes back on the hot seat I think it all kind of comes down to like
29:18until they get out of this sort of purgatory that they seem to be in or he
29:23gets like an extension I think we're asking these same questions in a week
29:28right yeah I mean that again it's part of the not the narrative the Bruins
29:33invited but it's one that you had to expect was gonna be the case right like
29:36as much as you hope the Bruins follow what they did the first two years under
29:40Montgomery and stop the year friggin 14 and 1 or something like that that's all
29:44well and good it's not realistic to expect that especially again when you've
29:47got so many guys you know whether they're in elevated roles how many
29:51newcomers you have you're to expect for there to be some growing pain so yeah as
29:56you said even if they they win these next three games against Calgary and
30:01Toronto and Ottawa you need to have that sustained over a couple of weeks before
30:06I think you're ready to fully right the ship and even then like it you probably
30:10don't feel good if you're you know Montgomery or anyone else until there's
30:13a contract signed like again you could hit a another dry spell in the middle of
30:18the year or when you're getting ready for the side of the playoffs like until
30:21the contract is there I feel like it's human nature you're not going to be able
30:26to take a deep breath and reflect in you know put aside that anxiety and he said
30:31all the right things right of saying grounded in the moment he discussed it
30:37again on Monday that he's not looking in the past and definitely not looking
30:40ahead because if he says that creates anxiety but you're so only human right
30:45like it hard not to look ahead yeah we're back yeah it is you know just
30:50human nature that it's going to you know get you anxious when you just don't have
30:55that clarity there and you've got you know your your job and your future rests
31:01on the guys on the ice and you know how varied it is in terms of getting
31:06consistent results in the game like hockey so yeah I agree like listen if
31:11they win these next three games like they keep on posting shutouts you feel
31:15pretty good with the games where the team is going and the direction this
31:19team is moving forward but I don't know how realistic that is until a contract
31:24signed or the Bruins reel off 14 straight wins or something like that I
31:30think it is going to be until you know you have a contract put in place you're
31:35going to kind of be in this tenuous situation I think if you're Jim
31:39Montgomery in the Bruins you need a dance we need to walk in and say guys
31:43no you to concert at the sphere when we go to Vegas no none of that and then
31:47they'll win a bunch of games in a row I do think though if they continue to play
31:52the way they did this weekend if they build on this if they're you know if
31:56they've somehow win like eight of their next twelve or something like that which
31:59is not out of the question wouldn't shock me if they locked him up locked up
32:03Montgomery to an extension of like hey you got us out of this now we're back
32:07into playoff position like here's your extension good work with that I just
32:13don't know it's hard to tell right now and I was reading like even the
32:16athletics power rankings at the end of last week and it was sort of like you
32:21know are the Bruins bad like is this the year when that when the roster stuff
32:26finally catches up to them with the you know lack of drafting high-end talent
32:29like is this the year that's finally gonna hit them and it still could it
32:33could be like and and I know we both went into the year not thinking this was
32:37you know gonna be that year we both thought highly of this roster and I
32:40still think there's a lot this roster has that's left to give like it would be
32:45a major disappointment if this team continues on this route through the next
32:48couple months but I could easily see them turning it around too so I think
32:53that's sort of the tough thing that we and you know reporters and fans are sort
32:58of looking at them and going that it's hard to tell what they exactly are
33:02because they don't have an identity quite yet but they could be so much more
33:06so interesting times interesting times Connor that they are in at the moment
33:13but what can the people look forward to from you over at the globe and Boston
33:16calm yeah you can follow us over the globe and Boston calm we'll have you
