Sports tourism will be added to Selangor’s annual calendar next year to support the Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign, themed "Surprising Selangor," announced Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Speaking to the media after unveiling the Visit Selangor Year 2025 logo at the Selangor Tourism pavilion at the Malaysian MotoGP 2024 in Sepang on Sunday (Nov 3), Amirudin highlighted the potential of various sports events to attract both local and international tourists, aiming to meet a target of eight million visitors.
Amirudin also noted that the Malaysian MotoGP 2024 expects 200,000 visitors on its final day, adding that events like this serve as models for attracting tourism to Selangor.

03:03That's why today, we will announce some activities
03:07related to sport tourism and recreational.
03:11And it is part of our strategy with the promotion
03:16of events like MotoGP that have good value or quality
03:21and able to attract more people,
03:24including employees,
03:26and also spectators and supporters of the competing teams.
03:30Sport tourism is one of the attractions.
03:33For example, we have a lot of events in popular places.

03:42Bicycle events.
03:43These are two events that have already existed and have been held many times

03:56which are paddle and pickleball.
