00:00The NFL news and notes that you need as a new week begins tonight.
00:04It is week number nine Thursday night football and MetLife between
00:07the Jets and the Texans.
00:09We will preview TNF to start off our second hour yesterday.
00:13Drs Jordan Love did not practice in Green Bay, but when asked
00:17in the post game or post practice press conference in that
00:22locker room, how realistic it is for him to play in the huge
00:25NFC North divisional duel on Sunday in Lambeau against the
00:28Lions love said quote.
00:30I think it's realistic also quote not ideal for trying to play
00:34in a game if he could play without practicing this week.
00:38Donnie the Packers a three and a half point home underdog as
00:42of this moment hosting perhaps the best team in the National
00:45Football League your Detroit Lions to me that spread indicates
00:49Jordan Love is not going to play or expected to play at this
00:53moment.
00:53It will be Malik Willis and also if he does a groin injury to
00:57a quarterback.
00:58You might not think I could just stand in the pocket like you
01:00ever throw a pass you ever do anything athletic with an injured
01:03groin at this point.
01:04It strains either way you move in the pocket.
01:06You try to sidestep somebody you try to just get out of the way
01:09and maybe get a better throwing lane.
01:11It injures you all the time, which means Jordan loves a pretty
01:13athletic quarterback.
01:14He's used to be able to make plays with his legs that wouldn't
01:17happen first rule in the National Football League while you
01:19can play and you can't play for your quarterback.
01:21Can you protect yourself out there?
01:23And if you can't get out of the way, you can't play which means
01:25Malik Willis is going to probably show up on Sunday and I do
01:28think that the Detroit line should be favored if Jordan Love
01:30is down and also to have the conversation of Jordan Love early
01:33in his career.
01:34I think it's a great quarterback.
01:35Sometimes he does get a little turnover happy, but you can see
01:38the talent and really works in that Green Bay system.
01:40But here's the issue now bad game.
01:42Number one had an injury.
01:43Now we're talking about halfway through the season another
01:46injury.
01:46This is starting to pile up here.
01:47We're not saying he's injury prone per se, but we're not even
01:50getting those separated shoulder broken leg type injuries.
01:53We're getting those soft tissue ones, which is something to worry
01:56about and can linger here.
01:57I don't think he's going to play on Sunday.
01:59I think either way if he plays or doesn't play Detroit's going
02:01to win, but if I'm being honest, I can't have an injured quarterback
02:05in the pocket Malik Willis has done a fine job being a reserve
02:08quarterback and being a professional once he gets in the games
02:11who's to say that he won't be the better option if love just
02:14can't get out of the way.
02:16And they've designed schemes for Malik Willis to excel and he
02:19has DRS.
02:20Of course, the third round draft pick by the Titans back in
02:232022 started a few games for Tennessee to end out his rookie
02:27year did not look good did not throw a touchdown pass during
02:30his two years in Nashville has thrown a touchdown pass in all
02:34three games.
02:35He is played at least a quarter for Green Bay.
02:38Of course subbed in late in the Sao Paulo Brazilian opener
02:42after Jordan Love was injured against the Eagles.
02:45Listen, I'm not saying the Packers would be a field goal favorite
02:48at home.
02:49If Jordan Love was anticipated to start and play.
02:53I think the line would probably be closer to a pick them and
02:55DRS like you.
02:56I'm not sure it matters.
02:57The Lions are an absolute wagon right now that I don't think
03:00you want to step in front of but a huge NFC North game as Detroit
03:04is 6 and 1 the Packers because of how great Malik Willis has
03:08been 6 and 2 this year.
03:11The Carolina Panthers have made their call Bryce young remains
03:14their starting quarterback Donnie.
03:16Like you said, it's the right decision, right?
03:18See what he's got left.
03:19Even if it's trade value in the offseason.
03:22I think the situation has soured in Charlotte.
03:25You almost feel bad for the guy though, because it's not a
03:27recipe for success for his career to get back on track.
03:31No, and sometimes as we know, it's not really where you're
03:34drafted as opposed to one two or three in the order.
03:36It's where you're drafted as a city in an organization and
03:39he did get a raw deal.
03:40There was nobody that said he was coming out of Alabama and
03:43didn't think he could translate into the pros.
03:45Yes.
03:45Was he smaller in stature than some other players?
03:47Of course, but that guy performed in big moments at Alabama.
03:50There's no reason to believe that he should have been a great
03:52quarterback at Carolina, but we say this a lot.
03:54You see some of the organizations out of the setting up their
03:57young quarterbacks for success and getting them weapons here.
04:00Case in point, Jade and Daniels and completely rebuilt team
04:03here.
04:03A new head coach comes in.
04:04You got him a college-style offensive coordinator that's
04:07working wonders with him and he has talent all across the board
04:09in the back foot on the offensive line, tight end, wide
04:11receiver, you name it.
04:12Same thing with Caleb Williams in Chicago.
04:14Bryce never had that in Carolina and sometimes just getting
04:17into those good habits, which allow you because well, he should
04:20make it up on his own.
04:21Do you understand when you're a young quarterback trying to
04:23work your way through progressions where you can't even get to
04:26your second progression?
04:27Number one, because nobody's open because your wideouts stink
04:29and number two, your offensive line can't protect you.
04:31That's devastating on a career right now.
04:33And that's what he got.
04:34Hopefully can land somewhere else and like go to Kansas City
04:36and be a backup quarterback for a year or two.
04:38Then we'll see if you have what it takes to be an NFL quarterback
04:40after that. Bryce Young in his return as the starter for Carolina
04:45against Denver in Mile High on Sunday, 24 of 37, 224 yards, two
04:52touchdowns, but two INTs.
04:54He did throw a touchdown late.
04:56A lot of that yardage did come late.
04:58It was the first time in 13 games or just the second time in
05:02his last 13.
05:03I should say Bryce Young threw for more than 200 yards, which
05:07I guess is a small positive.
05:08The Panther is a seven and a half point home dog against the
05:12Saints on Sunday.
05:13Derek Carr expected a return for New Orleans.
05:16More quarterback news and a preview of Thursday night when
05:19hour two starts next. More quarterback news around the National
05:23Football League.
05:24We have a new week that begins.
05:26It's week number nine tonight on this Thursday as we welcome
05:29you to our number two of the early line here across the Spiz
05:34Grizz Network, a network that is booming as of this Thursday
05:38morning. Ka-ching!
05:40He is Donnie Rightside.
05:42I am Ben Stevens, DRS as we get ready for a new week.
05:46Of course, quarterback news as we just brought Jordan Love
05:50still says it's realistic for him to play on Sunday.
05:53We shall see. Bryce Young is going to start once again for
05:56Carolina.
05:57Good luck.
05:58The big news though this week in the 2023 NFL quarterback
06:02draft class.
06:03That of course was Anthony Richardson.
06:05Now riding the pine in Indianapolis.
06:07Here was what we heard from Shane Steichen, the Colts head
06:10coach yesterday.
06:11Quote, Joe will be our quarterback going forward.
06:14Joe gives us the best chance to win right now, not giving up
06:18on Anthony Richardson.
06:19It was my decision.
06:21That's good, Shane.
06:22Anthony Richardson also spoke yesterday, DRS, and said Shane
06:27didn't really explain why he is now going to be on the bench
06:30and then Michael Pittman Jr., star wideout for Indianapolis
06:34said he found out of the quarterback shuffle on social
06:37media.
06:38Good things happening in Indy.
06:41Well, let's go one by one for these things.
06:43Joe Flacco does give them the best chance because Joe Flacco
06:46has been a very good quarterback for the past year and a half.
06:48And if you're an offensive coordinator, the first thing you
06:50want is your offense to be run correctly.
06:52Now, sometimes you don't execute it.
06:54That's one thing, but you want to say, okay, look, the play
06:57call is correctly here.
06:57The reads were made.
06:58The throw just might not have been there.
07:00Also, let's go through with Anthony Richardson and what we're
07:03talking about for him.
07:04He's been absolutely horrific on the field.
07:06So for Anthony Richardson, say what you want.
07:09Justin Fields was like, you know what?
07:11I sort of agree with this.
07:12Like I haven't been playing great football enough where there's
07:15no chance that Russell Wilson is going to play.
07:17Have an honest assessment of yourself for Anthony Richardson.
07:19Be like I played in all these games.
07:21I have no idea why I'm not going to be the starting quarterback
07:23because you stink kid.
07:24That's why you can't be the NFL's win right now and you're
07:27actively losing games because you can't command the quarterback
07:30position.
07:31It's about running the offense.
07:32And as I said again, yes, execution is key, but just running
07:35the offense.
07:36The way it's supposed to be ran is a problem right now.
07:39So if you're looking down the road, maybe he can get back
07:41in but also keep in mind organizations don't share a lot good
07:45organizations.
07:46I should say I'm going to put the Colts in there.
07:48There's more to this here because you just don't cut bait after
07:52a number of starts with a kid with that much talent in his
07:55second year in an injury prone first year.
07:57Do you know what?
07:58We're probably seeing Ben just speculation on my part.
08:00You're in a meeting doing chalk talk.
08:02He doesn't understand the defense.
08:04He doesn't understand the playbook here.
08:06He's not putting in all of that work effort because you don't
08:09just do that.
08:10I understand like yes, it's about winning.
08:12Yes, you don't want to lose your locker room and a coach wants
08:14to put his best foot forward.
08:15But from an organizational standpoint from an owner to a front
08:18office general manager right down to the coach their future
08:21should be we drafted a kid number three.
08:24We have to make it work now.
08:25I respect the decision to say we respect everybody in this
08:27locker room and it's clear that Joe Flacco can play but I have
08:31a feeling that there's way more underlying that we're not
08:33hearing about and certainly they want to try to fix this
08:36internally, but there's got to be more because they're not
08:38two and six.
08:39They're not one in seven.
08:40They're right in striking distance for the Texans and the
08:43Texans lose tonight and the Colts win on Sunday.
08:45You're right there and they're saying that Joe Flacco gives
08:48them a better chance.
08:49We're not hearing the full story here, Ben.
08:52Yeah, there is no doubt DRS and again at Indies Outlook eight
08:55and a half is the win total.
08:57The over is plus 116.
08:59It's the same exact price right now for the Colts to see the
09:02postseason because the AFC wildcard race that we expected
09:06to be an absolute gauntlet filled with teams trying to get
09:08to 10 or 11 wins is not and Joe Flacco brought the Browns to
09:12the postseason and 11 wins last year.
09:15Joe Flacco this year in the three games.
09:17He has played a majority of for Indianapolis.
09:19They have won two of the three and lost a close divisional
09:23game against the Jags in Jacksonville when they were down
09:26to touchdowns midway through the fourth quarter and Flacco
09:29led them all the way back to at least tie the game.
09:31There is no doubt that Joe Flacco in this veteran experience
09:34role. He has developed the last few years is a better quarterback
09:38at this moment, then Anthony Richardson, but you really do
09:42almost feel for AR because DRS you mentioned it when we were
09:45discussing Bryce Young.
09:46It's the situation and Anthony Richardson situation is not
09:50on Indianapolis his fault, but he played four games last year
09:53to fully healthy shoulder injury to sideline his season the
09:57lumps that we are seeing him take right now and he was a huge
10:00development piece in his full year as a starter.
10:03His only one at Florida 53.8 percent completion percentage
10:07despite the arm strength in the wow factor that he had in
10:10the athleticism that very few people let alone quarterbacks
10:14possess. He was going to take some time to work through and
10:18often completions and accuracy and efficiency and understanding
10:23concepts in defense.
10:25The RS does not get better as you take the leap to the National
10:28Football League from the college ranks and Anthony Richardson
10:32is going through that right now.
10:3448 and a half is his completion percentage this season.
10:38He is played in six full games in five of the 610 completions
10:42or less like we saw on Sunday 10 of 32 against Houston and
10:48Donnie.
10:48There's been some of the correlation or at least the comparison
10:51Anthony Richardson slow start to his career because of the
10:54body shape and size in frame and stature and athleticism to
10:58that of Josh Allen in his first two years in the NFL.
11:02I think that's a very large bridge to try to cross but I do
11:05think Anthony Richardson was always going to need time and
11:08experience game reps to take those lumps and learn from it.
11:12I'm not sure he's going to see that now moving forward in
11:14Indianapolis.
11:16No, it'll be tough to crack that starting lineup against
11:18specifically if Joe Flacco is going to keep you in that playoff
11:20race, but let's understand this like Caleb Williams goes to
11:23Chicago and I still don't think it's going to work out for
11:25Matt Eber Flus and Shane Waldron.
11:27Those were questionable decisions, but you can't say like
11:29well, he's going with a guy like if you don't know who Shane
11:31Steichen is go back to the Philadelphia Philly years where
11:33he had Jalen Hurts and turned him from a second round draft
11:36pick. Not really too sure.
11:37He looks like a running quarterback to a flat-out superstar
11:40MVP caliber player.
11:41That was sensational in that Super Bowl run.
11:44This is the perfect guy.
11:45Like when you get an athletic quarterback, I'm pretty sure
11:47when they drafted Anthony Richardson the selling point of
11:49Richardson to as well as like Shane Steichen's like you see
11:51what I did with Jalen.
11:52I'm going to turn you into an absolute menace out here with
11:55this offense and he wasn't able to do that but credit Shane
11:58Steichen to say I have an offense that's built with an athletic
12:01quarterback, but I'm going to win games with Gardner Minshew
12:03and Joe Flacco.
12:04This guy can do it.
12:05So if Anthony Richardson can't succeed in Shane Steichen's
12:08offense, that's a tough great point on the Richardson.
12:11And a lot of people pointed to Josh Allen in 2020.
12:14He got Brian Dayball.
12:15It's been one all the success in Western New York has happened
12:19Shane Steichen's that offensive mind for Indianapolis an
12:22unfortunate situation, but India has made the right call.
12:25You see their outlook.
12:26You see what is expected.
12:27The Colts can be a playoff team and very well might if Joe
12:31Flacco steadies the ship and they are not all that far behind
12:35the Houston Texans even in the AFC South.
12:38Heck they played Houston week 18 on that Saturday night last
12:42year win and you won the division.
12:44It was CJ Sprout of the Texans to take advantage and thus all
12:48of the optimism.
12:49Houston is 6 and 2 this year DRS, but not exactly overly
12:53optimistic entering this Thursday night, but by nowhere
12:56near as pessimistic as that of the New York Jets a 2 and 6
13:01football team that is writing a five game losing skin.
13:05And here we are once again, Mr.
13:07Right side dealing with the Jets now a two and a half point
13:12favorite to start off week number nine on this Thursday
13:15night.
13:15Yes short week for the Texans.
13:17Yes.
13:18It's on the road.
13:19Yes.
13:19We learned earlier this week Stefan Diggs is toward his ACL
13:23and is out for the remainder of this season, but we find
13:26ourselves on this Thursday with the market working toward
13:29Aaron Rodgers and grain gangrene expecting the Jets to win
13:33a football game.
13:35Do you think the Jets will finally deliver on that expectation
13:39tonight?
13:40Yes, I do think the Jets win this game and this is the epitome
13:42of the Thursday night stretch.
13:44We have an injured team coming in to Houston at wide receiver,
13:46which leaves you just with tanked L.
13:48Mixon's been fantastic love their quarterback, but I'll keep
13:50it simple here that long travel and Minnesota can't lose to
13:54a bad Rams team.
13:55Can they on Thursday?
13:56Oh, Minnesota did lose that game and the Texans will lose
13:59tonight to the New York Jets.
14:01Yeah, I'm not so sure.
14:03We'll talk about it more next after break here on sports.
14:07It's a new week in the National Football League.
14:09But for the last month, we've been asking the same question
14:12to the New York Jets win a football game when they are expected
14:17to Donnie.
14:18You've been I don't want to say on the Jets bandwagon, but
14:21you've had the belief that New York could win football games
14:24in must win opportunities in prime time in these more key
14:28matchups the last few weeks that Monday night matchup in
14:32MetLife.
14:33They were a slight underdog against the Bills at home lost
14:36that game found active ways to lose it then Sunday night
14:40two weeks ago in the Steel City.
14:42They were the favorites on the road against Russell Wilson
14:45and Pittsburgh in his Steelers debut lost that football game
14:48after getting shut out in the second half.
14:51Okay, tough competition.
14:53They're going to go into Foxboro and even if they don't cover
14:56as a touchdown favorite, they'll walk out at least with an
14:59outright victory against the Pats.
15:00I heard you on pro football today on Sunday saying you expected
15:04that to be the case and yet again, the Jets find a new and
15:09historic low and a way to lose a football game.
15:12So what is different this time DRS?
15:14Why are the New York Jets as a two and a half point home
15:17favorite tonight to kick off week number nine actually going
15:21to win against the Houston Texans?
15:23Well, finally, we're starting to see that Thursday night vampire
15:27show up which means the last thing an NFL team wants to do
15:30and this has been me for you know, since we had the advent
15:32of Thursday night football.
15:33The first thing I do particularly with the Eagles.
15:35I'm a fan of where's that Thursday night football game.
15:37If it's home, that is a massive win on your scheduling for
15:40that season and you're coming with Houston Texans Ben.
15:43This would be completely different for me.
15:44Number one.
15:45If we were healthy talking about we the Texans at wide receiver
15:48and if this game was played on Sunday, I'd be nowhere near
15:50the Jets here.
15:51But the minute I saw this line come out.
15:52I was all over the Jets because the one thing say we will it
15:55is a Calamity and could they lose the game?
15:57Absolutely.
15:58They're not favored by 14 and a half points.
15:59It's one and a half now up to two and a half, but there's
16:01a reason why they're the favorite.
16:03It's hard for an NFL team been to play on a Sunday then travel
16:07and be injured and go on the road, which means you barely
16:09have any time to practice and you just show up to play.
16:12Where is the Jets who in New England?
16:14That's a quick trip home.
16:15Yes, they did lose that game.
16:17Yes, they were embarrassed, but they're home on a Thursday
16:19and also some things also could slide into it.
16:21Well, you know other things mix into great running back.
16:23It's the Met.
16:24It's MetLife Stadium, the Meadowlands.
16:25It's basically November.
16:26Is it 32 degrees?
16:27Are there flurries blowing around?
16:29It's 73 degrees tonight with no chance of rain and light
16:32winds here.
16:33So you're looking at an offense passing game that should
16:36excel and the Jets great wide receivers.
16:38The Jets solid offensive line, the Jets multiple options
16:42in the backfield.
16:42The Jets have Aaron Rodgers.
16:44So there is still that belief that they can put this together.
16:47Am I calling the Jets to make the playoffs?
16:48No, I'm not, but circumstances sometimes will influence
16:51your bets.
16:52Thursday night football.
16:53I've been saying for years and has changed a little bit
16:56this year.
16:56I'll be honest.
16:57It's either the home team or no team on a Thursday night
17:00because of how far of a disadvantage you are put behind.
17:03Same way with the Jacksonville Jaguars who are a bad football
17:06team, but they played back-to-back weeks in New England.
17:08They waited on the New England Patriots and smashed them
17:11and they're a terrible football team.
17:12But sometimes look at the travel.
17:14It's hard to overcome the team you're playing and the travel
17:17at the same time.
17:18And that's just the way I see it for tonight's game.
17:21Yeah, I get it and it makes a lot of sense, right?
17:24The Texans are also not world beaters this year, despite
17:27a 6-2 record.
17:28They are 3-4-1 against the spread.
17:30They're two top targets.
17:32Nico Collins has been on the shelf for a few weeks with
17:35a hamstring injury.
17:36We just learned that Steph Diggs is now out for the remainder
17:39of this season.
17:40That was part of the burgeoning optimism, if you will, for
17:43Houston entering the year, not just the AFC South title and
17:46a playoff berth and victory in CJ Stroud and D'Amico Ryan's
17:50rookie year in the organization.
17:52But the acquisition of Steph Diggs has not really happened
17:56for the Texans, at least as smooth as you might expect.
18:00Tonight is on the side of Houston and not that of the New
18:03York Jets, who have lost five consecutive games.
18:06They have not covered in any of these five straight losses
18:09and they have gone over in their last three, allowing at least
18:1223 points in all three of those games.
18:16And Donnie, you said this on PFT on Sunday, and I completely
18:19agreed with the point.
18:20If Aaron Rodgers is serviceable on Sunday, the Jets beat
18:24the Patriots.
18:24He was, no turnovers, more than 220 yards, two touchdowns,
18:29and yet the Jets became the first team in NFL history out
18:32of 751 potential scenarios to score 20-plus points in a game,
18:37limit their opponent to 250 yards or less, and not turn
18:41the football over and still lose the game outright.
18:45I'm not betting on the Jets.
18:47In fact, I bet on the Texans earlier this week on the Money
18:49Line and have bet the total to the under of 42-and-a-half
18:53as well.
18:54Yeah, there's two ways that you can play out the Jets in the
18:56way they've been.
18:57If they made a couple kicks, if they actually got Aaron Rodgers
19:01not throwing pick six against the Vikings, you might be
19:03looking at, oh, the Jets could actually win this division.
19:06But at the same time, I use that Bill Parcells analogy,
19:08you are what your record says you are.
19:10Forget about how you did things in games, and the ball
19:12bounced the wrong way for you a couple times, and you had
19:14a terrible kicker.
19:15It still happened here.
19:16So the belief is with the Jets in the fourth quarter, they're
19:18probably going to find a way to lose this.
19:20But sometimes for me, it's just more circumstantial tonight.
19:23I'm not getting the best effort here of the Texans, and you
19:25might be right.
19:26The Texans technically do have a better defense than the Jets
19:29on paper because the statistics show it out.
19:31We'll see if it plays out tonight, but that's the reason
19:33I'm betting this way tonight.
19:35Also, just reading the lines here.
19:36Most people will be shocked and say, wait a second, the Texans,
19:39they're getting points.
19:40I'll just take them here.
19:41There's a rhyme.
19:42There's a reason for why these spreads work out that way.
19:44Is it always you go chase down a line and it works?
19:46No, not necessarily, but I just like the spot the Jets are
19:49in tonight.
19:49And if they do lose, then they lose again and it's on me.
19:52So there you go.
19:54There is a rhyme and reason.
19:55You're right.
19:55The oddsmakers expected the New York Jets to be a double-digit
19:58win football team, and at least on paper, they're probably
20:01better than they were earlier in the season.
20:03They added Devontae Adams.
20:05Has it made much of a difference?
20:07And Donnie, this was one of the things for me that I was
20:09going to follow all year, after week one, being a road
20:12underdog in Santa Clara.
20:14Would the Jets continue to be an underdog as they were in
20:17a large portion of the first three years of the Robert Sala
20:20era, which began in 2021?
20:23The Jets have only been favored 14 times.
20:26Tonight will be game number 15, 7-7 straight up, 5-8-1
20:31against the spread.
20:32This year, both 2-3 straight up and ATS.
20:37We'll talk overall outlook for both of these teams and the
20:40players that will impact the outcome tonight as well in MetLife.
20:46It could get spooky.
20:48It's a warm Halloween in the Tri-State, up next.
20:50So Donnie, right side, you believe the New York Jets are
20:53going to win on Thursday night football, at least outright,
20:56even if they do not cover now as a two-and-a-half point home
20:59favorite against the 6-2 Houston, Texas.
21:03The updated outlook for gangrene, six-and-a-half is the
21:05win total, not great.
21:07It was nine-and-a-half, heavily juiced to the over in the
21:09preseason, plus 590 is that playoff price.
21:13The New York Jets now heavily expected to miss out on the
21:16postseason for a 14th consecutive year, continuing their
21:19historic and by far longest active postseason drought in the
21:24NFL. If the Jets win tonight, does it change your outlook
21:28at all for the rest of the way that New York will now be
21:31three-and-six, the midway point of this NFL campaign?
21:36No, they have enough talent to win football games on a Sunday
21:39to Sunday basis.
21:39Yes, they do.
21:40But we are we foolish to say they just lost five straight
21:43games as if they can rip off five straight games and win
21:46all five straight close games.
21:47We know that's not going to happen.
21:49They might not beat the Texans tonight.
21:50Then they got to go on the road to play the Cardinals, who
21:52we know will fight you.
21:53And if you get the Cardinals on the right Sundays where they
21:55feel like playing, they can certainly beat you outright.
21:58The Seahawks are good football team.
21:59The Dolphins got their quarterback back.
22:01You see where I'm going with this?
22:02We're not lining them up as if they are six-and-two at this
22:05point say the benefit of the doubt is earned because they're
22:07winning close games against good football teams.
22:10They're not doing that.
22:11So even if they win tonight, I'm not going to change my
22:13assessment. Now, granted, I'm more of a week-to-week
22:16handicapper as opposed to a futurist handicapping better.
22:19So I'll look to them the same way.
22:20I'm doing it tonight because the Season Look Outlook, I don't
22:22like it for the Jets, but I do like it the Outlook for tonight.
22:25But this team has lost games in crazy ways, which who says
22:28they're not going to continue to do that then?
22:31Yeah, absolutely.
22:32That's kind of how I feel when it comes down to it DRS.
22:35So as we look at the numbers tonight, the quarterback comparison
22:38CJ Stroud without both Nico Collins and Steph Diggs, Nico
22:43Collins expected to return in a few weeks.
22:45Of course, Stephon Diggs out for the remainder of this season.
22:49Aaron Rodgers who entered last week in New England with the
22:52second most pass attempts in the NFL at the age of 40.
22:56That's not a good sign.
22:57Only 28 last week DRS and just barely under tonight's number
23:01of 233 and a hook by the half.
23:04He finished with 233 yards and two touchdowns.
23:07If the Jets are going to win tonight at home in MetLife, what
23:11do they need out of Aaron Rodgers?
23:13They need probably two touchdown passes tonight because that
23:16passing game has to be effective.
23:17They got a pretty good set of cornerbacks here for Houston,
23:19but a little bit struggling there on the back end with the
23:21safeties and you also have another week with Devontae Adams
23:24in your building.
23:25We saw Garrett Wilson break out.
23:26He's a hundred yard wide receiver if he was the number one.
23:29So you're expecting just again, look, look at the numbers up
23:32there, right?
23:32Two thirty three and a half one and a half touchdown passes,
23:35which is not even juice.
23:36You're getting positive money on the over average.
23:38Aaron Rodgers when you come into a football game over the
23:41past decade is like, yeah, I expect 250 and two touchdown
23:43passes every single gets it.
23:44That's average Aaron Rodgers, which normally he'd be a 275
23:48plus and three plus touchdown passes.
23:50Just give me Aaron Rodgers tonight with one total turnover,
23:54whether it be a sack fumble or an interception that should
23:57be good enough to win, which means 225 plus passing and also
24:01two touchdown passes as well.
24:03Average Aaron Rodgers is all they need tonight.
24:07So when you look at the wide receivers that will receive
24:10the football from these quarterbacks Garrett Wilson DRS
24:13to your point five grabs for a hundred and thirteen yards
24:17on Sunday in Foxboro against the Patriots Devontae Adams
24:20in his two games with New York.
24:22He has been targeted 15 times but only seven receptions
24:26under his receiving yards prop in both games.
24:30Will he move the needle at all for this New York offense
24:33on this Thursday?
24:34If we're looking for two guys to score touchdowns in the
24:37wide receiving game, obviously, you would look towards
24:39Devontae Adams and Garrett Wilson and good for us.
24:41They're both plus money here at the Fandu Sportsbook
24:43one at plus 155 and one at plus 90 plus 190.
24:46Excuse me.
24:47So if I think it's a coin flip on either one of those
24:49to score a touchdown, it's actually Garrett Wilson at
24:51the plus 190 the guy that I would be looking for it.
24:54Now, we understand Devontae Adams.
24:56You want to get him going you want to get him, you know,
24:58multiple targets obviously early on but you also want to
25:01get him those red zone targets.
25:02I can't fault it.
25:03So if you're just being you know, what I think I want to
25:05come away with plus money tonight.
25:07And if I think Aaron Rodgers throws two touchdowns, how
25:09does Devontae Adams and Garrett Wilson not at least one
25:12of those guys catch a touchdown pass hard to do Ben was
25:15like minus 145 minus 125.
25:17They're both plus money.
25:18So if you take both of Adams and Wilson, I think you're
25:21walking away with plus money and maybe you might be walking
25:23away with a 2-0 night.
25:25There will be plenty of more time for the properspective
25:28in our third hour with Tom.
25:29Vecchio will show you the running backs.
25:31Both guys.
25:31Joe makes it and Breeze Hall have been doing it all for
25:35both offenses this year quickly.
25:37Drs.
25:37Steph digs now out for the year, but Houston is 6 and 2.
25:41Is that ceiling still the same for the Texans divisional
25:44crown and potential AFC title contenders?
25:48It depends what they do to fortify that number two wide
25:51receiver.
25:51You're not going to get a good as one as you had a Stefan
25:53digs, which he's been really good for Houston.
25:55But if Nico Collins comes back and there's no hamstring
25:58injuries, that's a bona fide number one.
26:00So that's stealing for it stealing for me.
26:01Ben still there was the NFL's leading receiver before
26:05the hamstring injury that has sidelined him for the last
26:08few games.
26:10The Jets now a two and a half point home favorite against
26:13the Houston Texans.
26:14Vecchio.
26:14We asked you about the numbers often two and a half points
26:17spread in favor of New York at home short week Thursday
26:21night football 42 and a half is the over under but it's
26:24not just the numbers.
26:25I guess it's kind of a belief in this game.
26:27If you believe the Jets will finally win a game when they
26:30are expected you look at New York.
26:33If you don't believe that it kind of think Houston is the
26:36right side.
26:37So how do you see this Thursday night playing out really
26:40tough?
26:42This game is super interesting for a variety of reasons.
26:44Like I said at the top the Texans are the Texans.
26:46They're dealing with a ton of injuries.
26:48Obviously the announcement that digs is done for the year
26:50new Nico Collins is still out for a few more weeks and
26:53ultimately what does their offense look like if they're
26:55forced into a passing game script, we've seen their
26:58offensive line be terrible, right?
27:00They cannot protect CJ Stroud and that's actually one of
27:03the things that the Jets are good at which is bringing
27:04pressure.
27:05So if there's any time for the Jets to actually have some
27:08success, it would be tonight on a short week versus team.
27:11That's clearly not healthy on injury.
27:12And like the thing that the Jets do well is the thing exactly
27:15that the Texans struggle with.
27:17So this should be the game for the Jets to write the ship
27:21after firing the head coach and training for Devont Adams
27:24and they just haven't been able to get on the right foot
27:25like this is the time for them to finally succeed.
27:28So if you believe in the Jets, I think they win this game
27:31and they absolutely do cover but if you don't have any
27:34belief then I think the Texans are live and I think would
27:36be a big Joe mixing game ultimately.
27:39Yeah, we'll see if mixing can hold up anytime touchdown
27:42market.
27:42He's certainly the favorite there, but let's take a look
27:44at the quarterback side Aaron Rodgers versus CJ Stroud
27:46one has a better compliment of weapons at the wide receiver
27:49position, but we'll see how that plays out 233 and a half
27:52for Aaron Rodgers tonight.
27:53His passing prop CJ Stroud to 22 and a half both again
27:56touchdown props over one and a half but used differently
27:59Aaron Rodgers at the fan blue Sportsbook right now Tom
28:01plus 102 CJ Stroud plus 172.
28:05How do we look at the quarterback props tonight?
28:08The quarterback props and I think you would want to side
28:11with Rodgers again.
28:12They're at home.
28:13They have a chance to win this game.
28:14Like he should be the one leading it.
28:15Like I think Breeze call can have a fine game tonight
28:18get Braylon Allen ball, but like they have Rodgers and
28:20they have these passing options for a reason.
28:22So that's what they should be trying to flex on offense
28:24and ultimately, let's say you are interested in CJ Stroud.
28:27You do think he has a good game.
28:28You probably shouldn't be looking to over one and a half
28:30passing touchdowns.
28:31You should probably be trying to take a shot on nailing
28:34one of those touchdown receiving options because Joe
28:37mixing at minus 130 minus 41 40 whatever he is, you know,
28:40I don't want to be going there.
28:41But if we look at the list and you see tank Dell at two
28:43to one Dalton Schultz, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods,
28:47that's six and a half to one and he may have to play a role
28:50tonight.
28:50So instead of going to plus 170, you can take a shot on
28:53something that's plus 400 for touchdown tonight.
28:56Love that.
28:57Look back.
28:57You know, I think a lot of the guys after Stefan Diggs
29:00and of course, Nico Collins who has missed the last few
29:04games are going to step up in a big way tonight.
29:07So let's talk about those pass catchers here and the guys
29:10that you would expect if you believe in Houston to fill
29:13the void of Diggs and Collins.
29:16How do you see it for the Houston Texans?
29:18Who is that guy?
29:19You are targeting most that might get all the targets from
29:22CJ Stroud.
29:24Yeah, that's going to be Dalton Schultz tonight.
29:26Like him specifically over 40 and a half receiving yards.
29:28I also like him at 50 plus receiving yards at plus 144.
29:31His touchdown is sitting at plus 400.
29:34He has at least five targets in five of the last six weeks.
29:36We look back over the Jets recent game log and we're seeing
29:39Hunter Henry going five for 45.
29:42Pat Fryer going two for 51.
29:43Dalton Kay going six for 50.
29:45And Dalton Schultz is really 1A and 1B when it comes to
29:48Tank Dell when it comes to total targets here now with Collins
29:51and Diggs on the sidelines.
29:52So yeah, you could take a longer shot with John Mechie,
29:55you know, potentially but I think Schultz and Tank Dell
29:58are probably the two safest options.
30:00And did I see at the top of that board a certain friend
30:04of Aaron Rodgers finding Payton tonight as well in his third
30:09game in a New York Jets uniform.
30:11Devontae Adams will score a touchdown for the first time,
30:13Vecchio?
30:15I mean, it's got to happen, right?
30:16They brought him in for a reason.
30:17He's got 15 targets over the first two games.
30:20Like this is the spot that they need to get going.
30:22Like we know what Garrett Wills can do.
30:25We shouldn't be seeing touchdowns to Lazard.
30:26I'm not even sure if Lazard's even playing tonight.
30:28If they got, they gotta ask for freedom, right?
30:30Like get him the ball, get him a touchdown, at least hit
30:32the fan base on the right side of things.
30:35Sports Grids Tom Vecchio.
30:36There you see his top props for Thursday.
30:38He'll be back on the pregame show ahead of Thursday Night
30:41Football and the recap as well.
30:44Vecchio, we appreciate the time.
30:46We'll break down Thursday Night Football next.
30:48Thursday Night Football on this Halloween at MetLife.
30:52Will it be trick or treat for Aaron Rodgers and the New York
30:57Jets? The Jets now a two and a half point home favorite
31:00against the Houston Texans.
31:02Total at 42 and a half.
31:04Donny, I actually think this is a rather simple handicap,
31:07right?
31:07Do you believe the Jets can finally win a game when we
31:10expect them to or are the odds makers continuously incorrect?
31:15And the Texans are just a better team because New York has
31:18actively found ways to lose riding a five-game win streak.
31:22If you believe in the Jets, you lay the two and a half, they
31:25win by a field goal, potentially even more than that.
31:29If you are done buying in, betting and believing on Aaron
31:33Rodgers and gangrene, you take C.J.
31:35Stroud and the Texans outright on the money line because
31:39he has been a great underdog when he has entered the National
31:42Football League since the start of last year.
31:45It's just how do you believe?
31:46So will it be spooky tonight in New York or will the Jets
31:49finally deliver on what they have been promising fans for
31:52the last 18 months?
31:54I think the Jets will deliver tonight and also a case in
31:56point of being home on Thursday Night as a major advantage
31:58and you're not getting the best version of the Texas team
32:00that goes into it.
32:01You bring Manico Collins, Stephon Diggs and Tank Dell.
32:04We're not looking towards the Jets.
32:05That looks like the favorite side would actually be the
32:07Texans and rightfully so.
32:09Now granted, can they still win the game, the Texans?
32:11Yes.
32:11They have a very good defensive line.
32:13They got a couple really good cornerbacks here that can
32:15sort of slow things down.
32:16But the interesting part for the Jets is sometimes you
32:18look at a team, it just didn't go their way, Ben.
32:20They're just so injured.
32:21Aaron Rodgers is healthy.
32:23Your offensive line is healthy.
32:24Your tight end is healthy.
32:25Your top wideouts are healthy.
32:26Your top running backs are healthy.
32:28You get the point here?
32:29Like nothing has made sense why the Jets continue to slip
32:31other than they're just not a good football team and come
32:34up in clutch moments.
32:35Now again, I can go down game by game.
32:37Zerline make a couple kicks.
32:38This team looks like they're on the way to the Super Bowl.
32:40He didn't.
32:40The record is what it says it is.
32:42It's just a circumstantial bet where theoretically for the
32:45Jets, your season isn't officially over.
32:47They're heading into this game saying now's the time to
32:50jumpstart the season.
32:51Should they have done it last week against the New England
32:52Patriots? Absolutely.
32:54And they lost that football game.
32:55No excuses against Jacoby Brissett when CJ Stroud is so
32:58much better than Jacoby Brissett.
33:00And even without weapons at wide receiver, they're probably
33:02still better at wide receiver than the New England Patriots
33:04were last week.
33:05So nothing has made sense for the Jets.
33:07But for me tonight, it's a circumstantial play.
33:09I like the spot they're in.
33:11They should be able to win this game.
33:12They are favored for a reason and they get the job done.
33:16They are favored for a reason.
33:17You are not incorrect, but they have been favored five times
33:21this year after only being booked as a favorite nine times
33:25in the first three years of the Robert Sala tenure.
33:28Of course, he is no longer the head coach.
33:29It's the interim head man in Jeff Ulbricht.
33:32They are both 2 and 3 straight up and against the number
33:35when booked as a favorite.
33:37They started off 2 and 1.
33:39They won two consecutive games after losing to San Francisco
33:42on that opening Monday night of the year.
33:44They covered against the Titans.
33:46They covered on that short week Thursday night football game
33:49against the Patriots.
33:50They were at home.
33:51Of course, they won 24 to 3, easily covering as a six and
33:55a half point favorite.
33:56But DRS, I have said this often.
33:58I was looking at New York this year.
34:00How often would a healthy Aaron Rodgers, would the Jets be
34:03booked as a dog?
34:05Three times in eight games.
34:07In these five losses in a row, the Jets have failed to cover
34:11a number three times as a favorite, as more than a touchdown
34:16favorite at home against the Broncos.
34:18Bo Nicks threw for 60 yards.
34:20They found a way to lose that football game.
34:22They were a touchdown favorite last week in New England,
34:25did not commit a turnover, scored more than 20 points,
34:28held the Patriots 250 yards of total offense or less, and
34:32still found a way to win that football game.
34:34They were a slight road favorite with the addition of Devontae
34:36Adams in the Steel City on a Sunday night and a huge marquee
34:41matchup a couple of weeks ago.
34:42Russell Wilson was making his debut for Pittsburgh.
34:45They got planked in the second half.
34:47They lost 37 to 15.
34:50I'm done believing in the New York Jets.
34:52I bet the Texans early this week, outright on the money line
34:55and that under of 42 and a half.
34:58DRS, you are not done believing in the Jets just yet.
35:02So who are going to be those players that you need to see
35:05perform in the most impactful way tonight to lead New York
35:08to a victory?
35:09Yeah, just to keep it simple too.
35:10I already bet on the FanBlue Sportsbook at a 30% profit
35:13boost tonight.
35:14I used it.
35:14Keep it.
35:14This is it.
35:15Look, I always like to keep it simple stupid in these betting
35:17environments where you're getting the boost here, which
35:19we love from the FanBlue Sportsbook. Devontae Adams to get
35:2125 yards.
35:22Garrett Wilson to get 25 yards.
35:24Aaron Rodgers to throw one touchdown pass and Dalton
35:27Schultz on the opposite team, which is the Texans playing
35:29tight end just to get 25 yards.
35:31Boosted the plus 143.
35:33So just to keep it simple for me, I expect bigger things
35:36out of Devontae Adams than 25 yards.
35:38That should be a low benchmark. Bigger things out of Garrett
35:40Wilson, 25 yards and more touchdown passes than one for
35:44Aaron Rodgers.
35:45So if we're being honest, I wanted to include all of those
35:48in a lower amount parlay to boost it up, but that's where
35:51I'm going.
35:51The passing game needs to get on track.
35:53Well, Donnie, last week you saw Garrett Wilson over 100.
35:55I get that.
35:55You don't need to see tonight. Five-step drop, play-action
35:58pass, Aaron Rodgers launching bombs downfield to open receivers.
36:03Get the juices flowing like back when you were in the Green
36:05Bay days where Devontae Adams was uncoverable down the
36:08field.
36:08That's what I need to see tonight. One, a victory, but
36:11number two, why did you get Devontae? Not for three catches
36:14and 30 yards, for six catches, for 116 and a touchdown.
36:18How about that?
36:19Targeted 15 times in his two games as a New York Jet.
36:23Only seven grabs has not found the end zone yet. His regular
36:27receiving yards prop is 55 and a hook.
36:29He has been under in both games.
36:31Who is going to step up for C.J.
36:33Stroud? Only 86 yards, a career low two weeks ago in Green
36:37Bay. The Texans still covered that game as a field goal
36:40underdog in Lambeau. Bounced back in a big way last week,
36:44285 yards against the Colts, but Stephon Diggs was the leading
36:48receiver for Houston.
36:50He's out for the remainder of this year. No Nico Collins.
36:53Will it be Dalton Schultz, the tight end?
36:55He did go over his number tonight last week with 54 yards.
36:59Will it be Tank Dell? Might it be Xavier Hutchinson? A couple
37:02of guys, I think you can find some money in. Joe Mixon, DRS,
37:07has been really big through the air.
37:09I'm going to bet the over of his 24 and a half receiving
37:11yards prop tonight.
37:12You could argue Brees Hall has been the same. Both of these
37:15running backs have been huge in terms of their scrimmage
37:17yardage output this year.
37:20Sometimes I do like to take a look at a game and say, if
37:22you like the Texans, and I don't think they're going to
37:24win tonight, but there's no way the Texans win without a big
37:27performance out of Joe Mixon.
37:28You tell me right now, Mixon got 16 carries for 38 yards,
37:32three catches for 25 yards.
37:34They get beat, but you can't have a night where Mixon goes
37:37for 80 plus yards on the ground and 40 plus yards in the
37:40air and they still lose.
37:41If you like the Texans tonight, take Mixon.
37:44He's the key.
37:44If he doesn't perform, neither are the Texans.
37:46But again, he can perform and they can still lose this
37:49football game.
37:50Good point, DRS.
37:51Really good way of handicapping this one.
37:53We'll see what happens.
37:55Will we finally have some belief to believe in, in the
37:58New York Jets?
37:59Or will the Texans just keep winning football games, 7-2,
38:02will they win tonight?
38:04Donnie, have fun on the Moneyline.
38:06Happy Halloween.
38:06Many Mr.
38:07Goodbars coming your way.
