00:00departmental settlements in the Budget tomorrow?
00:02Sam Carlaw.
00:03Thank you very much, Mr Speaker.
00:05In my constituency of North West Cambridgeshire,
00:08there are over 50 pubs and breweries
00:10which support over 1,500 jobs
00:12and contribute millions of pounds to our economy.
00:15Whether it be the mulberry tree farm in Hampton
00:17or the windmill in Orton Waterville,
00:19these are valued businesses that have earned their place
00:21in our local community.
00:22Does the Chancellor agree with me
00:24that they deserve to be supported
00:26and that this Labour government will give hospitality
00:27the tools it needs to thrive?
00:30Minister.
00:31Well, I thank my honourable friend very much for his question.
00:33He's absolutely right that pubs make an enormous contribution
00:36to our society and economy.
00:38The current alcohol duty system
00:40supports pubs through draft relief,
00:42which ensures eligible products served on draft pay less duty.
00:46The government is also committed to delivering
00:47a fairer business rates system for high streets,
00:49including hospitality.
00:51Any decisions on future tax policy
00:52will be announced by the Chancellor at a fiscal event,
00:54the next of which is tomorrow.
