00:00You may have heard of people putting your town on the map, but how about on the board?
00:06Well the residents of Whitstable and Herne Bay must have pulled a chance card
00:11as a new Monopoly set launched today seeks to celebrate their coastal community.
00:18With local heroes gathering at Wildwood to pass go and collect some of the very special sets.
00:27Well we're essentially doing research for areas in the UK where there's
00:30really good community connection, great local landmarks and also natural beauty as well.
00:35As you've got with Whitstable, Herne Bay, the Humber, so it's a bit of a no-brainer really.
00:39But it's not just tourist sites and beloved local landmarks getting ready for houses and hotels.
00:46Local charities and businesses making a real difference in the community
00:51are also set to be in-game real estate.
00:56It's a privilege because Monopoly is so worldwide known,
01:00so it's quite something to be part of a community Monopoly board.
01:07It's full of joy, full of happiness, it's absolutely incredible and
01:13honoured, absolutely honoured to be part of this incredible game.
01:18So excited to be on the board and to be able to host the event today,
01:21just to be part of that board and that Monopoly game that everyone's going to play.
01:24It's absolutely amazing.
01:26It's a real big boost for us, we are in the heart of Whitstable and
01:33we feel we're really important to the town.
01:37It's quite unique, we were quite honoured really and pleased to be actually offered
01:41the chance to go on there. It was something different and when we've gone it'll still be there.
01:48And something we never expected.
01:50There's one question left.
01:52Are Monopoly makers ready to roll the dice on any other Kent towns?
01:58So that's something we'll have to look at next year.
02:00We know Kent is full of fantastic local areas, really great landscapes as well,
02:06similar to Whitstable and Herne Bay, so we'll certainly have our eyes peeled for the next few years.
02:10Well for now we just have to be content with a local
02:14coastal addition to our community chest of board games.
02:18Oliver loses the sacks for KNTV in Herne Bay.
02:22Monopoly!
