Cohesion Plus boss Gurvinder Sandher discusses the work that went into the two St George's Day parades in north Kent
Transcript
00:00I think events like St George's Day here in North Kent kind of hopefully underpin
00:04the strong community relations that we have here and it underpins that the key role that
00:09arts and culture can play in bringing communities together as well. So you know we're really proud
00:13of what we've done in Graysham and Dartford and I say this every year I feel that other
00:18parts of the country can learn from what we're doing here in Kent and the reason we've started
00:24doing organizing St George's Day events was and the honest reason was that when I was young
00:29growing up here in North Kent the union flag and the flag of St George was kind of the kind of owned
00:36by the far right and for me this is about reclaiming the flag for the majority rather than the minority
00:42and saying that we're gonna you know fly the flag of St George we're gonna fly it with pride
00:48and also use it to celebrate what it means to be English today in 2025.
