00:00Where's David Fresno?
00:02Where's Robinson Bruno?
00:05What does T.C. and Sacramento have to say?
00:08What about Tyler Miller?
00:09What about everybody who wants to fire Shed Ahead or say Shed Ahead's on some sort of
00:13hot seat here?
00:14The downfall is near and it's coming hard.
00:16Are we sure the downfall is near?
00:18I think there's better times ahead.
00:20I want to get into the, you know, George Kittle passing Dwight Clark for just a second.
00:24And Roger Craig.
00:27I want to start with Dwight Clark.
00:30When you say the name Dwight Clark because of his passing and because of the disease
00:34that he had, like there's a lot that's baked into it.
00:37But part of the Dwight Clark story, a big part of it, is that this guy came out of nowhere.
00:43He played on a team with a top quarterback in college at Clemson and a top wide receiver.
00:49And he only had like 30 catches, something like that, like under like 600 yards in his
00:55entire college career.
00:56All right.
00:57Go look at George Kittle's Iowa career.
01:00Very similar.
01:01I'm looking at it right here, B. He had 48 catches for 700 yards.
01:0748 catches for 700 yards.
01:10And so when Dwight Clark gets drafted in the 10th round by Bill Walsh, I remember reading
01:15in all his memoirs and all the books about the dynasty and everything, like his own assistants
01:21were like, Bill, what are you doing?
01:22You can sign this guy.
01:23No one wants this guy.
01:24I want to get this guy.
01:25And he came out of nowhere and he put up unbelievable numbers for the 49ers for a long, long, long
01:30time.
01:31Eventually he ended up stepping away.
01:33And I look at George Kittle and what he's done coming out of nowhere, like he is one
01:38of the great draft picks in 49er history.
01:41It's not even like a question.
01:43T.O., Frank Gore, I'm talking about mid-late round picks, obviously Joe Montana is one
01:47of the great ones of all time.
01:48But Dwight coming out of nowhere in the 10th round is like all time legendary.
01:52George Kittle, fifth round pick with 40 catches in his college career to be one of the greatest,
01:58most prolific pass catchers in Niner history.
02:02I don't think anyone's ever going to wear number 85 again.
02:04And it wasn't lost on me like, damn, dude, he passed Dwight Clark.
02:08That's that's obviously Roger Craig.
02:11That's that's just unbelievable.
02:12I didn't think I'd see that coming.
02:14Hasn't passed Dwight Clark yet, but he will.
02:16He's got to.
02:17He's got 500 catches, Dwight Clark, 506, Roger Craig, 508, T.O., 592.
02:24When it's all said and done, because I do think the Niners, this is the type of guy
02:28you want to extend.
02:31He's going to be number two all time in 49ers history, franchise history.
02:35He's going to join the 600 club in 49ers franchise history.
02:38There's no doubt in my mind he will, because I think the Niners will extend him.
02:42Because you think about who George Kittle is, look, he's at 40 catches and 503 yards.
02:48So he's on his way to back to back thousand yard seasons.
02:50He goes for a thousand this season, that'd be four thousand yard seasons for the tight
02:56end position.
02:57He also had twenty twenty one where he only played in 14 games.
03:00He had nine hundred and ten receiving yards.
03:03All right.
03:04Yeah.
03:05More yards or more catches as a rookie than he did his entire career in Iowa.
03:09It's crazy.
03:10Right.
03:11Think about that.
03:12Forty catches.
03:13I will.
03:14Forty three catches as a rookie with the San Francisco 49ers.
03:16And then where I'm getting to is it's not only what you do on the field in 49ers franchise.
03:21What made Dwight Clark stand out and Roger Craig stand out is what they did in the community,
03:26how they became ambassadors.
03:27That's why we love Jerry Rice.
03:29When George Kittle has taken on that role, he's become ambassador for this organization.
03:35He's great in the community.
03:36And who doesn't love the Kittles?
03:38I walk into Kansas City game, you see the entire family.
03:40Hey, guys, how are you doing?
03:42Hey, they're all polite and nice.
03:44And he brings the whole crew out.
03:46They're like 30 deep, 30 deep at these football games.
03:48They run a whole suite for crying out loud.
03:51But this guy's an all time niner.
03:53He really is.
03:54And I don't think we discussed.
03:55So when I brought up a couple, you know, when you mentioned it, I was just bringing up because
03:58I don't think we do that enough.
04:00Again, we don't celebrate the good times enough in sports, in sports radio.
04:04That's what I want to focus on.
04:05The hell with the negativity, man.
04:07The hell with it.
04:08And George Kittle's a breath of fresh air.
04:10There's no doubt.
04:11And so like yesterday's game, just my, this is my opinion.
04:16You know, I've been really high on Purdy.
04:17I thought his confidence looked completely shattered.
04:20And confidence is not something that I could quantify.
04:23I'm just saying like what I thought I saw.
04:25He looked shook.
04:26He did.
04:27He was missing open receivers.
04:28He was, even on the catches that he made, there was a pass to Kittle where he's rolling
04:31out and Coles was like, Kittle was waiting forever for that ball.
04:34It was like a simple, you know, eight or nine yard pass and he like lobbed it into him.
04:38It felt like he was just kind of hesitant, tentative.
04:42Before it felt like when he was rolling, he hit his back foot, bang.
04:46I'm just going to, I'm going to rip the ball down the field.
04:48Then I was like, what is going on with Purdy?
04:50And then the drive before half, that ball that he like pump faked on, like what was
04:54happening?
04:55I'm going, is he in the Jimmy zone?
04:57Like confident, I've done confidence wise.
04:59Yeah, the Jimmy zone.
05:01And then, and then George Kittle get on the first play, bang on that little middle crosser.
05:06And I'm saying to myself, Purdy looked like a completely different guy after that one
05:10play.
05:11And I thought that George Kittle picked up his guy there.
05:13It was a great throw by Purdy, easy throw, but it was a great throw by Purdy to hit him
05:17on the crosser.
05:18And I just felt like the whole office, I took a deep breath and George put the team on his
05:23back again.
05:24I thought it was a monster play in the game.
05:25One thing we don't touch on enough.
05:27We used to do this a lot.
05:28We talk about toad setters.
05:29Who's going to set the toad for the football team and a toad setter could be, it could
05:34happen.
05:35A toad can be set in the first quarter or juice or a jolt.
05:39There's certain players who give a sideline jolt.
05:41There are certain players who make plays where the sideline wakes up and gets up off their
05:44ass and they're like, okay, it's go time.
05:47Deebo is one of those players.
05:49Nick Bosa can be one of those players.
05:52Fred Warner is definitely one of those players who was set in the toad yesterday.
05:56We didn't even mention Fred Warner.
05:57Oh my gosh, what a gladiator he is.
06:00But then there's also George Kittle because George Kittle doesn't like to go out of bounds
06:04and not inch out.
06:05He likes to truck you.
06:07He likes to run you over.
06:08He liked he did in Seattle in a big play third down where he's like, yeah, I'm not running
06:12out of bounds.
06:13I'm looking to run right through you.
06:15Kind of like Jeremy Shockey and Julian Peterson at the goal line way back when in that wildcard
06:19game Giants and Niners.
06:21He's a toad setter for this team.
06:23He wakes his team up.
06:24He's a captain for a reason.
06:26So they go this offense moving forward here.
06:28George Kittle understands what time it is.
06:30And I think what got lost in the shuffle last week at the Kansas City game, Travis Kelsey
06:35said, hey, let's do this again in February.
06:37Kittle's like, OK, yeah, sure.
06:41And I don't think that's lost on George Kittle.
06:43Watching that receiver doc, like I had an opinion of who he was before the receiver
06:48doc and it totally changed after it.
06:51Not that I thought he was fake.
06:53I just thought it was like too much.
06:57Everything was sticky.
06:58I thought everything was sticky and not necessarily that it wasn't like real.
07:01It just felt very curated and not authentic.
07:04And then I do think he picks and chooses his time.
07:07The guy is really charming.
07:08That's number one.
07:09Like he is like he he's a very charming individual.
07:12It's hard to not smile when he's talking.
07:14But I actually underrated how authentic he is.
07:17I think that he truly is just an optimistic, upbeat individual.
07:21I thought it was a little like put on for the for the cameras.
07:25And I also realize his entire life is all about his family and football, and I respect
07:29the hell out of that.
07:30A little midfielder, Nashville.
07:31Yeah, I just he's a workout warrior.
07:33I got great respect for him, his family and let him allowing the cameras to be in on it.
07:39It just it made me appreciate him in a way that I didn't before.
07:42And I feel kind of like stupid for questioning his authentic nature.
07:46No, I really do like fancy, you know, because all we see is what we see at podiums and maybe
07:51on social media.
07:53And I think there's times like when the team loses a big game where you're just like, oh,
07:56come on.
07:57And but then like when you see all the behind the scenes stuff that the Netflix doc provided,
08:01I realized like, no, he's really like that.
08:03And and I just I like him.
08:05I really like George Kittle.
08:07I'm glad you do.
08:08I'm glad you do.
08:09I like him, too.
08:11First time this season, 5-0 Comcast was a text line that they may second have judgments
08:14and outplayed their opponent.
08:15Cowboys are going to a six man line.
08:17Chris Collin works against pointing it out.
08:19Six man line.
08:20Six man line.
08:21So what we're hitting you with some play action passes.
08:23We're not going to run against the six man front.
08:24We'll hit you with the play action passes.
08:26It won't dice you up.
08:27And again, I think Shanahan, eight, eight, eight, nine, five, seven, nine, five, seven,
08:32zero.
08:33If you had to grade Shanahan's performance yesterday, what would your grade be?
08:35Eight, eight, eight, nine, five, seven, nine, five, seven, zero.
08:38Because I thought Shanahan scheming guys open and you saw it on the D-ball play early in
08:43the football game where Kittle hits him down the right side and it could have went for
08:46a touchdown.
08:47I had Kittle let him a little bit more.
08:48Not the first time we've talked about that over the last couple of weeks, but lining
08:52up D-ball at backfield, a little subtle motion knowing that, oh, Eric Hendricks is guarding
08:57D-ball Samuel.
08:58There's no chance a linebacker is going to keep up with D-ball Samuel.
09:01So a great play design there.
09:03But will Christian McCaffrey be in that backfield soon, Shaski?
09:06We have a report from Ian Robeport, NFL Network Insider.
09:09Here's what he had to say about CMC.
09:11Kyle, put you on the spot to ask about Christian McCaffrey and you said what Peter just did
09:16to confirm that perhaps the optimism is that CMC would be back by after the 49ers bye week.
09:22Is it still tracking that way?
09:24Yeah, that is my understanding.
09:25In fact, what teams do, they go mostly away for the bye weeks, but the 49ers are planning
09:29a bonus practice, which I think a lot of teams do.
09:32My understanding is Christian McCaffrey is expected to participate in that bonus practice,
09:36which would be the first time we see him, if reporters are allowed, out on the field
09:40in a while.
09:41And then he has been ramping up, he has been running, as we said, on flat ground, which
09:45is a great place to run much better than in the whirlpool.
09:48And I would not be surprised if he is out there November 10th.
09:51That has been the target and he has had no setbacks.
09:53So that is a very good thing for Christian McCaffrey.
09:55When Ian Robeport said he's been wrapping up and you hear him jiggling in the background,
10:00boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
10:05boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
10:06I'm like, oh, I just want to just isolate that that little track they had in the back.
10:11NFL Network, they're geniuses, man.
10:13They got me good.
10:14When Robeport said ramping up, and I heard that, and I'm imagining Christian McCaffrey
10:18as the team's on the practice field, McCaffrey's just, he's in the training room, they're stretching
10:22him out, he's putting the wristbands on, he's putting the eye black on, and he just walks
10:26out on the practice field, and it's like, there he is, they're CMC, boom, boom, boom,
10:31boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, come on, you know you like that stuff.
10:33Well, I was envisioning when they were talking about the whirlpool, I'm envisioning him kind
10:37of like Darth Vader in his back to tank, you know, on Mustafar, where he's got this
10:41like cryogenic chamber that he's in, you know exactly what I'm talking about, where he's
10:45got that, you don't know about Mustafar, it's like a lava planet, before he got sliced up,
10:51I mean, it's one of the great moments in, you know, cinematic history, a moment I've
10:55never seen, when he became Darth Vader, you were the chosen one, Sudony's ear to ear,
11:02he loved the way I was just rat-a-tat-tatting that, but that's the way I envision it, I'm
11:07very excited if they can get CMC back, cause Garendo, Garendo provides a level of speed
11:14that it does have a Raheem Mosterd feel to it, he's got the turbo jets, he does have
11:19some speed, really, really good speed, he made a couple of nice catches too, he's gotta
11:25get better at pass protection, he's gotta get better at pass protection, that's the
11:28next step for him, that's what all running backs have to do, young running backs especially,
11:32that's what they miss with Chris McCaffrey, he knows how to protect the quarterback,
11:35let's go to Awe, in San Francisco, Awe, is it Awe or is it just A-W-E, J-W, A-W-E, yeah
11:45J-W-E, oh J-W-E, what up J-W-E, hey man I was feeling kind of down man, this kind of
11:51season when my 9 is in Kyle Shanahan, and I was one of the guys that was kind of like
11:56on eggshells with Shanahan man, but you know it's a long season and we gotta pull through
12:00and we pulled through with that Cowboys game and to keep it 100, Shatsky, I was mad at
12:05my mom because you know she's a Cowboys fan, but we pulled through man and that's all good,
12:09Shatsky and I sent you that DM man of my little son, man America Canyon ain't not you, he
12:13went off, both touchdowns, 270 yarders, he picked six to the house and he threw a bomb,
12:20so I'm just a proud father man and I'm happy for my son man, go Niners, J-W, J-W real quick,
12:26what if I told you in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023, that Shanahan and the 49ers are 24-7
12:35in the month of November and December, in those two months, what if I told you that,
12:39because it is true and it's accurate, does that make you feel better moving forward?
12:44It kind of do, but at the end of the day man, the end of the season, it all counts in February.
12:49I hear you, hey look, to get to February, you gotta get through November and December.
12:54That's why we gotta start stacking these wins, let's go Niners, let's go, I love that.
12:59There it is, I mean this is when, this is separation time in the NFL, week 7, week 8,
13:05you start to flip the calendar to November, it's separation time, you start to separate
13:09the champs from the chumps, and there's a lot of chumps out here in the NFL, I think
13:14Seahawks are chumps, I think Tampa Bay Buccaneers are chumps, we know the Panthers are chumps.
13:20What about the Cowboys?
13:21Oh, chumps, I mean, nobody's worried about the Cowboys, like, no, actually, full disclosure,
13:30I wanted to bet the four, I wanted to slam the 49ers yesterday, I wanted to, I wanted
13:36to, I'm trying to save some money here.
13:40I wanted to slam it, I wanted to, I honestly, So you were not willing to put your money
13:44where your mouth was.
13:45I just, I didn't, you know, weird things happen, weird things happen.
13:47He's building all that money in that stock that he has in Andrew Wiggins right now, alright,
13:50so don't just worry about that, August 8th, this is what I said, buy the stock, hopefully
13:54August 8th, I bought the stock, and it was at an all-time low, and boy, Andrew Wiggins
13:58has not disappointed me, double-digit rebounds in the first half against the Utah Jazz, career
14:03high for him, 13 rebounds, a career high for Andrew Wiggins, three-point shot looks really
14:08good, really good, 29 points yesterday, 20 in the second half.
