00:00That's how you blow an 18-point lead, folks.
00:03That's back-to-back losses for the Golden State Warriors.
00:05Back-to-back blown leads.
00:06And a 17-point second half lead against San Antonio, an 18-point lead last night to Brooklyn
00:12who were shorthanded.
00:13Cam Thomas got hurt.
00:15Cam Johnson didn't even come out the locker room in the second half.
00:17He was injured.
00:18And yet Dennis Schroeder, Zaire Williams, they all make plays.
00:24Jalen Wilson fouled it from deep.
00:26He goes 5 of 11.
00:27Chris Keogh-Johnson was active.
00:29Shake Milton did his thing.
00:32And you look at this four-game stretch, Chaska, as we say good morning to everybody out there
00:35getting off their graveyard shift.
00:37You know the drill, man.
00:38Teachers, cops, firefighters, overnight dancers, you name it.
00:41Hopefully you're having a great morning to drive it safe here on these wet roadways.
00:46Two straight losses.
00:48Two straight losses.
00:49We'll get the lights, Chaska.
00:50I'll get the lights for you in a second.
00:51But those two straight losses, man, to bottom feeding-type teams, not good.
00:56I was looking for them to go 3-1, did a four-game stretch with Atlanta, New Orleans, San Antonio,
01:03and last night, Brooklyn.
01:04So I'll get the lights.
01:07I'll get the lights, fellas.
01:08I'll get the lights.
01:09Go ahead.
01:10You know, B, that game, yeah, flip-flop those lights, just trying to get the lighting right
01:13in here.
01:14God, that game was so frustrating.
01:18It felt like Moses Moody was having the best half of the year, you know, in the first half.
01:22And he was cooking.
01:23And I felt so happy for him.
01:25And then to see the Warriors just, what felt like in complete control, had everything kind
01:30of rolling right there.
01:31And then midway through the third quarter, it was a combination of Dennis Schroeder hitting
01:37unbelievable shots, either late in the shot clock, after good defense, scrambled plays,
01:43loose ball turnovers, missed bunnies.
01:45I mean, it was a slew of mistakes.
01:49And it wasn't like the Warriors were horrible, but they missed a lot of shots.
01:54And then Brooklyn came down and would hit a big momentum shot immediately after.
01:59And I know the three-point shots were something you kept referencing going into the game.
02:03And it felt like the Warriors were outshooting them in the first half after kind of a slow
02:08start.
02:09And things just flipped on its head.
02:10And then it was too much, or excuse me, too little, too late in the fourth quarter.
02:15And, you know, look, I threw my hands up as just a, you know, I don't pretend to know
02:20more than Steve Kerr, but I'm like, really going to roll with pods here in five minutes
02:24to go and not get Moody back into the game just to give him a look.
02:28You know, they had a lineup of GP2 pods, Wiggins, Draymond, and Steph, which I liked.
02:34And obviously, I would love to have seen Dray or Steph play a little earlier in that game.
02:39They just couldn't recapture what they had going.
02:41And Buddy had a tough game.
02:43Buddy missed like four or five shots late in the third quarter.
02:46To me, it wasn't about offense because the offensive numbers look great for the Warriors.
02:50They shot nearly 50 percent from the floor and they made 19 threes.
02:54They dropped 32 assists.
02:55Those are winning numbers, 13 turnovers.
02:58Those are winning numbers, winning numbers, fast break points.
03:03The Warriors outscored the Nets by 14 when it comes to fast break points, points to the
03:06paint, 52 to 34.
03:10But in the fourth quarter, you turn the ball over seven times.
03:12Excuse me, in the second half, you turn the ball over seven times.
03:15You give up 15 points off those seven turnovers.
03:19On the other side, Brooklyn, they turn the ball over seven times.
03:22They only give up seven points off those turnovers.
03:24So points off turnovers really did the Warriors in last night.
03:28It wasn't even like offensively, you score a buck 20, you're supposed to win that basketball
03:32game.
03:33Obviously, defense was a problem.
03:35You give up 70 points in the second half and they get a lot of paint touches and they hit
03:39the three.
03:40Again, Brooklyn going into the game, we're top five.
03:42It made threes.
03:43They're number five in the league.
03:44It made threes per game.
03:45They make over 15 and a half per game.
03:48Well, in Sacramento and last night at Chase Center, in back-to-back games, they make a
03:52combined 39 threes in those two wins, right?
03:55So that's what they do.
03:57Your top five in percentage from the three-point line and 50% of their shots that they take
04:02come from the three-point line.
04:03So you do that going in, yet you're rolling up 18.
04:06This is back-to-back games where Steve Kerr looks to get some production from the youth.
04:12Now, there's no JK for two straight games and they missed JK yesterday.
04:14They missed JK.
04:15Tremendously.
04:17He's been out for the last two games with an illness, but the bench had a chance to
04:23put them away.
04:24And I want to get to Moody in just a second because you're right about Moody.
04:28One field goal attempt in the second half is not good enough.
04:30I mean, runs or sets, considering what he did in the first half, 15 points, five of
04:34six, or six of seven, let him cook in the second half.
04:37He only took one shot in the second half, which is crazy to me.
04:41But a lineup with Pudzimski, a lineup with Slobo, a lineup with Moody at times, a lineup
04:46with Pudz, not being able to stretch that lead out and put that game away, that's two
04:51nights in a row.
04:52And the reason why it's worrisome for me is because it came against San Antonio or Brooklyn.
04:57And now when you look at the schedule, folks, and it's time to buckle up if you're a Warrior
05:01fan.
05:02They're 12-5, 12-5.
05:03And the good vibes, yeah, they've been great.
05:06But you look at the next month and a half or month plus, I'm going to just list these
05:12games until the end of the year.
05:16Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Denver, Houston, Minnesota, Minnesota, Memphis, Minnesota, Indiana, Lakers,
05:26Clippers, Suns, Cavaliers.
05:30That's the schedule through the end of the season.
05:33There's no gimme gaves.
05:34Kevin Durant's back with Phoenix.
05:36Riley Bill's back with Phoenix.
05:39Oklahoma City, they've got Hartenstein back.
05:42Denver's starting to figure some things out.
05:44Houston, one of the surprises early in the season.
05:47Minnesota just went nip and tuck with Boston.
05:49We know what they can do.
05:51The schedule beefs up.
05:52It goes up to another level.
05:54So we're going to play a Steph Quilt because he's on it.
05:56We're going to find out the fate of this team over the next month here as we go into January,
06:00Shaski.
06:01It's just really disheartening to blow both those games back-to-back the way that they
06:05did and the way you viewed it as you were heading into that two-game stretch, like,
06:09you've got to get at least one of those, right?
06:11Yeah.
06:12The four-game stretch, you had to go 3-1, it felt like.
06:14Atlanta, San Antonio, New Orleans, and last night in Brooklyn, you lose the last two.
06:20It's deflating.
06:21It's absolutely deflating.
06:22And lose being up 18, almost 20 points in both games.
06:26And like, we'll get into the schedule, but just give me a second on this guy.
06:31Something about Dennis Schroeder, I don't know what it is.
06:33This guy, he plays the Warriors so tough over the years.
06:37I know Will Bynum.
06:38I know Montrez Harrell.
06:39If we were just going, like, ultimate Warrior killers.
06:42Dennis Schroeder, if you told me his career stats are 25 points per game, like, in a 48-minute
06:49span, I would believe you, against the Warriors.
06:51He turns into a first-team, all-league player.
06:55Well, he's all the good stuff.
06:56He kills them.
06:57He hit a couple of teardrop shots, a bank shot late in the game.
07:01Again, a lot of these guys were attacking Pajemski late in the game, I felt like.
07:06But I thought his effort was there, Pajemski, but it's just, he's not the greatest defender
07:10in terms of length.
07:11And Dennis Schroeder hit some huge three-pointers.
07:15There was one where the Warriors were about to get a shot clock violation, and he misses
07:20the shot.
07:21He misses the three.
07:22Like, all right, we gotta...
07:23And they can't corral the rebound.
07:24It kind of ping-pongs around for a Zaire-Williamson dunk.
07:27It was one of those kind of nights.
07:29Yeah, Zaire-Williamson from Stanford really started off slow last night.
07:33Ended up with 19-10.
07:34I like it.
07:35And it went small.
07:36Look, Brooklyn didn't play.
07:38There's no Ben Simmons last night.
07:39There's no Nico Claxton.
07:42They went small.
07:43And it may have been strategic because Schroeder didn't play Sunday against Sacramento.
07:47He set that game out.
07:48So they play Schroeder.
07:50Ken Thomas, who's never met a shot he doesn't like, he will hoist him up with the best of
07:54them.
07:55But he's a scorer, man.
07:56Six of 11, 23 points, and he gets to the free-throw line.
07:59That's another thing with the Warriors, 11-17 from the free-throw line, 64.5% of the worst
08:03free-throw shooting team in the league.
08:06Brooklyn makes 26-30.
08:07But Schroeder is a player that, if he's out there on the open market, he's a very interesting
08:14point guard to pair with Steph, to pair with anybody.
08:17He's a gamer.
08:18And so I'm looking at Brooklyn saying, boy, can I get my hands on Cam Johnson?
08:21Can I get my hands on Dennis Schroeder?
08:23Those are the type of players that probably Mike D'Olivier is going to be looking at here
08:26at the deadline or looking to get bigger here.
08:29Because I'm not sure if, like, they're 12-5 right now to go to say Warriors.
08:33But it was concerning to me the way they blew these games.
08:36I agree.
08:37All of a sudden, Brooklyn looked like the more athletic and faster team.
08:39San Antonio, all of a sudden, in the fourth quarter, took it to the Warriors.
08:42Now I get it.
08:43It's on the back end of a back-to-back, and things are going to happen in the NBA.
08:46They're going to have bad shooting nights.
08:47That's the NBA, right?
08:48They're going to have duds.
08:49It's just, it is what it is over 82 games.
08:52But when you blow 17 and an 18-point lead back-to-back nights, and Brooklyn, let me
08:57tell you, they were down 18 in that third quarter.
09:00They were close to just waving in the white towel, saying, all right, let's see what happens
09:05here the rest of the way in the third quarter, and we'll just play our scrubs.
09:10That's why this game hurts so much, though, B.
09:13I thought Draymond had a very forgettable second half, just in general.
09:17I mean, missing the three free throws down the stretch.
09:20Not that I think it was going to win him the game, but come on, man, you've got to hit
09:23those free throws.
09:24And it felt like they were hacking him on purpose, you know?
09:26Like hack of Draymond.
09:27And then pods getting the over-the-back call, and then immediately leading to free throws
09:32for them.
09:33Like, those things can't happen.
09:34And, you know, I look at you, you're talking about Schroeder, right?
09:37What is Schroeder?
09:38Well, he's a guy in the half court who can make a play for you off the dribble and can
09:42set up for others.
09:43Now, at times, does he think he's in a rational number one option?
09:46Yeah, he does.
09:48But off the bench, would love to have him.
09:51One of the things that I thought they did, the game within the game, Keon Johnson and
09:55other guys were guarding Steph full court, and Steph kept bringing the ball up the floor.
09:59You could tell he was wasting so much energy just bringing the ball up the floor.
10:05What's the point of having pods in the closing lineup if he's not going to bring the ball
10:08up the floor?
10:09So, like, I had some questions for Steve Kerr, again, I'm not here crushing him, I'm just,
10:13why are you playing pods if he's not going to be the one bringing the ball up the floor?
10:18Then what's the point of him playing?
10:20Like, if you're going to have Steph Curry bring the ball up the court, which I know
10:24that he wants to at times, but yesterday was a game where it felt like he drained his energy
10:29because of great ball pressure by Keon Johnson.
10:33Good ball pressure, but keep in mind, he only played 29 minutes, he had a long, long break.
10:38And Steve Kerr's trying to make it a point to preserve Draymond and Steph Curry.
10:43But in a game like last night, in these games, you got to win, you got to win, because we
10:48could pick apart the 12 wins so far, and I've, you know, a lot of Warrior fans have been
10:52happy with the start, and I get it, I've been happy with the start.
10:55But in the back of my mind, I'm saying, OK, you beat up on Utah and Portland, and I'm
10:59not trying to diminish any victory.
11:01You go to Boston, you win a tough road game, but in the back of my mind, I'm thinking,
11:05there was no Porzegis and Jalen Brown.
11:08Chet got hurt, we'll see LKC on Wednesday.
11:11You know, they've played some, they've had some good fortune here playing other teams
11:15not at full strength, now the Warriors are not at full strength, and they're missing
11:19DeAnthony Melton.
11:20Although Lindy Waters III is starting to come out of it, 13 points last night, I like this
11:24activity.
11:25But either Pods, Moody, JK, those, one of those three guys here with the absence of
11:32DeAnthony Melton are going to have to step up tremendously, give them consistent production.
11:36Not just consistent minutes, consistent production, and maybe that's Jonathan Camigo.
11:40By the way, you asked about Schroeder, lifetime against the Dubs, 18 points a game, five assists,
11:45three rebounds, 50% shooting, 38 for three, 23 games.
11:49Yeah, which means overall.
11:50He's had really good numbers for the Warriors.
11:52He always does, man, whether he's with OKC, the Lakers, the Hawks.
11:56What did I say to you, Spadoni?
11:57I said to Spadoni, literally what you just said, I was like, going back to OKC, this
12:01guy has owned the Warriors, it feels like.
12:03He plays that tough, man, he's an irritant, he's an irritant.
12:06He hits shots, he's scrappy, he seems to make really good passes late in the shot clock.
12:12I thought that they did a great job just out-competing us yesterday, and okay, so you
12:17brought up the two-guard thing.
12:18Like to me, that's why the Moses Moody thing is such a head-scratcher, because he played
12:21so well, you could tell that it felt like, all right, Moody realizes, now I have an opportunity,
12:27I can maybe get some minutes here at the two, and he plays so good to close out that second
12:32quarter, I'm feeling great, and then, it's like, you gotta find a way to get that guy
12:38back into the game.
12:40Well, you said something, Hal, you said something back in the game where you basically said
12:45that, look, I know I'm not going to get consistent minutes or something like that, but I just
12:50gotta be ready, it's just the way it's been since I've been here, and it's unfortunate,
12:55because you think that man, bring him a couple plays, let him come off some pin-downs, run
12:59some split action, do whatever you gotta do to get him the basketball, and get him rolling
13:04here.
13:05The fact that he took one shot in the second half, just kinda scratched your head a little
13:09bit.
13:10What did he have in the first half?
13:11Six or seven, 15 points.
13:13And you can't get that guy back, well, this is the part of the 12-man rotation, it's like,
13:18well, you tell me you're going to play the hot hand, you gotta kind of play the hot hand
13:22then.
13:23Well, he's speaking about the luxury of rhythm, and he goes, that's not a luxury I've had
13:26throughout my career, so I've kind of had to figure out how to play, whatever happens,
13:30whatever the opportunity is, I just gotta deal with whatever, I just gotta deal with
13:35it.
