A big biker and the driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) were killed when they collided on the Pan Borneo highway in Papar, Sabah, on Sunday (Oct 27).

00:00A motorcyclist and an SUV driver were killed in a collision on the Penn-Borneo Highway
00:13in Papar on Sunday morning.
00:16The driver, identified as 75-year-old Lidinus Jusim alias John Jusim Majanun, and the motorcyclist,
00:2334-year-old Muhammad Ekshamsya Jinal, died at the scene.
00:29Papar OCPD Superintendent Kamaruddin Ambo Saka reported that the 8.50am accident occurred
00:36as the motorcyclist, returning from the Borneo Island International Big Bike Festival BIIBBF
00:43with a convoy, was heading toward Keningau.
00:46Preliminary investigations indicate the motorcyclist was in the overtaking lane when the SUV, coming
00:52from the opposite direction, made an abrupt U-turn, resulting in the fatal collision.
00:58Both victims sustained severe injuries, and medical personnel pronounced them dead at
01:03the scene.
01:04Their bodies were sent to the hospital's forensics unit for identification and postmortem examination.
01:10The case is under investigation for reckless driving under the Road Transport Act 1987.
01:17The State Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call about the accident at Jalan
01:22Lama, Kampung Purak, Papar, around 9.20am, dispatching a 10-member team from the Papar
01:28Fire Station, who confirmed the fatalities upon arrival.
