00:00Now, Nuke is going to be a chief.
00:03Can you imagine, Carver High, the humanity of it all?
00:07I can't imagine the humanity at all.
00:09And yes, I can't wait for the big drive tonight after Carver and Lacey, right in the car,
00:15and head up for the Cape Cod Irish Open tee time tomorrow morning, just after 9 a.m.
00:20East, to kick things off.
00:22So very, very excited to get the weekend going.
00:25Nuke heading to Kansas City.
00:28Of course, DeAndre Hopkins will be on the move.
00:31We've had a lot of wide receiver trades so far.
00:34Here is what is going back.
00:37Titans get a 2025 fifth-round pick from Kansas City.
00:42That becomes a fourth-round pick if the Chiefs make the Super Bowl and Hopkins plays 60 percent
00:50of the snaps.
00:51The Titans are paying a little less than half of Hopkins' remaining $8 million salary
00:57for this season, which is when his deal is up.
00:59So not that big of a price for Kansas City to get Hopkins in the building, especially
01:05if he's going to be healthy and play like he has in the past.
01:08Oh, my God.
01:10And then Tennessee's still paying half of the money to let this guy go play for a Super
01:15Bowl ring?
01:17You must be stupid.
01:18Like, honestly, like, how do you do that deal for, it's basically a conditional fourth-round
01:24pick and you're paying, you're still going to send them money?
01:28Like, I mean, that to me is just, they got fleeced.
01:32They got fleeced.
01:33I'd be like, you can have him pay his salary.
01:36Is that not what the Jets did to get Adams?
01:40They paid the salary.
01:42I cannot believe that Kansas City gets this guy and barely has to pay him.
01:48Unbelievable.
01:49Yeah.
01:50Well, right.
01:51And look, it's, and you know, get ready, huge playoff moments are coming for DeAndre
01:56Hopkins and the Kansas City Chiefs.
01:58It's just written in.
01:59Automatic.
02:00You can just know that.
02:01It's automatic.
02:02Absolutely automatic.
02:03Now, there was talk that maybe the Chiefs would be interested in Cooper Cup.
02:07We did the story yesterday that Cup is being shopped around.
02:10Allegedly, Scotty, the price was a little too rich for Kansas City.
02:15That's why they pivoted to Hopkins and he was going to, ended up being the guy.
02:21Here is Cup.
02:22Hopkins is better anyway.
02:23He is better.
02:24Cup's a great player when he plays three games a year.
02:30Hopkins has had some injury problems too.
02:33He's getting out, you know, he's, he's had some injury issues.
02:35I'm not like this guy Cup.
02:36I mean, this guy Cup is living in AD land.
02:39I mean, you're like Peter Brittle could welcome him into the club, he'd be in a gang with
02:43him.
02:45He is made of glass.
02:47As the Rams get ready to play the Vikings tomorrow night at SoFi, here's Cup yesterday.
02:52Can't worry about trade rumors.
02:53He is hearing them though.
02:54Yeah, I'm aware of it, but at the end of the day, I mean, I'm going to be where my feet
02:59are.
03:00That's, that's all I know.
03:02His beard's tremendous.
03:03I have a job to do here.
03:05And you know, I take a lot of pride in giving everything I can for the guys in this building
03:09and being able to step on the field, knowing that I prepared the best I can and you know,
03:15for seven and a half years, I've been an LA Ram and I've taken that approach every single
03:19day and you know, whatever happens outside of that, you know, I've, I got control.
03:22I can control.
03:23And right now that means being the best LA Ram that I can be.
03:26And I'm going to continue to do that.
03:28Listen, there's no denying he can play.
03:31There's no denying he's great.
03:34The injuries he has are just so unbelievable.
03:36Like the ankle, what was it?
03:38Week one.
03:39It rolled up on after a great catch.
03:42It's just always something.
03:44And he, he makes so many plays.
03:46There's no denying he's great.
03:47I mean, it is what it is, you know, buyer beware with his injuries.
03:52He has bad luck.
03:55Bad luck is definitely what it is.
03:57And I think he will get dealt here over the next couple of weeks, Vikings minus three.
04:02No change from yesterday when we discussed this in SoFi tomorrow night against the Rams
04:07a total now 48 and a half, I think it was 49 and a half yesterday.
04:11So down a tick here for Thursday night football.
04:14I know I'm nuts, but I'm taking the Rams tomorrow night.
04:17I'm on the Rams with it.
04:18Yeah.
04:19Fair enough.
04:20And I'm not simple.
04:21I think the Vikings are better flat out than the Rams on both sides of the ball.
04:26I like Flores' defense.
04:28I like O'Connell's offense.
04:30I like their passing game, their running game.
04:33Look, they had every chance in the world to beat the Lions.
04:36I just think the Lions are the cream of the crop.
04:40And I don't think the Vikings are at that top shelf status yet.
04:45So going into the, you know, game with Detroit, I was on the Lions to beat them and they handed
04:50them their first loss.
04:52Will they rebound from that?
04:54I say yes.
04:55What would a coast to coast be without Mike Tomlin on it?
05:00No, especially, you know, usually Tuesdays and Fridays are Mike Tomlin days because he's
05:06one of the few coaches, in fact, I think the only that does his weekly preview press conference
05:12on a Tuesday.
05:13So we always have some fresh Tomlin stuff and then there's always the weekly words of
05:17wisdom before the game on Sunday here on Coast to Coast.
05:21Of course, Russell Wilson performed, he said, excellent after the game on Sunday night against
05:28the against the Jets.
05:30Now they get ready to take on the GMEN, GMEN, GMEN Big Blue this Monday night.
05:34Here is Tomlin.
05:35He loves what Russell Wilson has brought already to the position.
05:39I thought his experience was really evident.
05:42He was unmoved and unshaken by, by the lack of fluidity with the start.
05:48But I think that's kind of reflective of a guy that's done it at a high level for over
05:52a decade, a guy that's a world champion, a guy that's whatever, nine, 10 time pro bowler.
05:59He's just seen a lot in this game and, and that's in his back pocket, just like his throwing
06:04abilities.
06:05And it gets you in and out of circumstances, certainly.
06:09Listen, no one can deny what he did.
06:13And that's that.
06:14He kicked the Jets ass.
06:15They scored 31 straight points.
06:16He spread the ball around like butter.
06:19He threw to six different receivers.
06:21It opened up the running game.
06:22They've just flat out better than they've looked, even with fields running around and
06:27breaking ankles.
06:28I thought fields did a really good job.
06:31And I thought Wilson did a better job.
06:34Let's see if that continues.
06:35I think it will, frankly, against this team.
06:37The only question is, will Mafia remember on Friday without you being here to still
06:43get the Tomlin words of wisdom in on a pain-free Friday show?
06:49I'm sure that it will happen.
06:50I'm sure that it will be there for you.
06:53Mike Tomlin's weekly words of wisdom.
06:55This actually, this cut maybe would have been all right for it too.
06:59Tomlin was asked to make it official who was starting at quarterback this week.
07:04Now, obviously, we know how Mike's been kind of playing games with this stuff.
07:08And then also gets asked about having to tell fields that he's not playing.
07:11And that's really the Tomlin words of wisdom.
07:14Here we go.
07:15I just want to make, for clarity's sake, based on your answer to Mike's question, Russell,
07:18is Russell going to start on Monday?
07:20He's scheduled to take first team reps when we begin tomorrow.
07:24We'll see where the week leads us.
07:25How difficult is it to have that conversation with a player like Justin, where he's, as
07:29you said, he's been very solid and his role is going to switch to what it was.
07:32I mean, how difficult is that to start?
07:33I don't worry about the difficulty of conversations.
07:37It's about whether or not they're necessary.
07:40We're pursuing big business here.
07:43Comfort is not a component of what we're chasing.
07:48Comfort is not a component of what we're chasing.
07:53He's hot stuff.
07:54He really is.
07:56Your boy, Tom, he's great.
07:59You got to love him there.
08:00And I have this for you as well, with the great performance by Russell Wilson.
08:05Permanente Brothers getting involved with the Dangerous here.
08:11Already, he cooked, we cooked.
08:13Whoa, look at that.
08:14Pepperoni, salami, ham and bacon served Pittsburgh style with the Permanente Brothers signature
08:20provolone fries, slaw and tomato.
08:23One dollar of every sandwich supports Russell Wilson's Children's Hospital Foundation.
08:29So how about that?
08:31Man, it took him one game to get a sandwich.
08:33Fields didn't get a sandwich after four or five leagues.
08:36The Dangerous, I got to sink my teeth into one of those when I'm in there on the 16th
08:41and 17th of November for the Penguins and Sharks and the Ravens and Steelers, where
08:47the Pittsburgh Steelers play.
08:50Did you get all that squared away with the Penguin game on Saturday night?
08:55Is that good to go?
08:57Yeah, listen, that's an easy phone call away from the chick that never stops calling me
09:02for season tickets.
09:03She'll be so excited that I'm buying tickets off of her.
09:07She'll probably want to go on a date.
09:10The Steelers were five and a half, I believe, yesterday when we spoke.
09:18Now it's six and a half for the Giants on Monday night with a 36 and a half total for
09:25Monday night football.
09:26Yeah, this is, to me, this is beat down time.
09:31This team can't do anything right.
09:33They're just awful.
09:35The Steelers have to smack their ass.
09:38That's all there is to it.
09:39They got to win by 10 or more.
09:41That's it.
09:42Double figs.
09:44You combine how awful the Giants have been offensively with how good the Steeler defense is,
09:52and especially at the pass rush, and the Giants not having Thomas, and that just destroys their line.
09:58It makes me wonder, will the Giants even score?
10:03I might play that for a shutout prop, or I might play the Steeler D for a touchdown.
10:10That might be on Monday night's study card when we come back from the Cape Cod Irish Open.
10:14That could happen for the Steeler defense on Monday night.
10:18I sure hope so.
10:19From your lips to God's ears, as you know, God is a Steeler fan.
10:24Yes, unless we've had a lot of people say that he's fans of other teams recently.
10:31How'd it work out for the guy on the Guardians who hit the home run who said that he was a fan?
10:38Didn't go well.
10:40God hit the home run.
10:42The Cowboys are back in action this week.
10:44Big game in San Francisco against the Niners coming off of their bye.
10:48There was a lot of chatter last week.
10:50A lot of people had a lot of things to say about the Cowboys,
10:53including former Cowboy quarterback, Hall of Famer Troy Aikman,
10:57who last week in a radio interview said that the Cowboy wide receivers, including CeeDee Lamb,
11:02they don't run good routes.
11:04They look like they give up half the time.
11:06While they're running their routes, this was brought to Mike McCarthy's attention this week.
11:11If anything, working here, you know, the intensity of of externals and potential distractions is high.
11:19You know, that's that's part of our that's just that's part of our operation.
11:23You know, Green Bay was cold.
11:25I mean, I mean, everybody has something, you know, that you have that's probably different than other places you work.
11:31So that I mean, that's that's that's that's part of our norm.
11:35The external noise or, you know, pro or con, you know, it's we prefer the pro.
11:40But it's, you know, it's it's part of working here and it's part of our landscape.
11:45So, yeah, for me to address those comments, you know, there I don't because I don't they don't carry any weight with me because,
11:54you know, I watch all the tape.
11:57I get to go to meetings.
11:58I'm at practice.
11:59I'm part of the games.
12:00So I have a clear understanding of what and where and in Troy statement in particular.
12:05I mean, I don't agree with the word selection.
12:08Oh, he did.
12:09He did say Troy at the end.
12:11At the end, he did.
12:12Listen, Troy Aikman has so much more juice in Dallas than Mike McCartney.
12:18Exactly.
12:19Like, I literally believe that he would be my choice to run the Dallas Cowboys instead of Jerry Jones.
12:29What they should do is not have that that latched on son of his doing anything.
12:36Stephen's going to be next in line.
12:39He's going to take over the team and be the general manager.
12:42He should own the team and he should hire Troy Aikman to run it.
12:48Troy Aikman would do a better job than Jerry and Steve put together because they have done nothing but lose.
12:54I mean, I'll give Jerry his credit.
12:56His credit is due.
12:58He won the Super Bowls because he had Troy Aikman and Emmett Smith and Michael Irvin.
13:06OK, that was that.
13:07So, you know, he didn't play.
13:11He just paid all those guys and he had the star players.
13:14This is why teams win Super Bowls, because they have star players.
13:20And then all these people give credit to the coaches and everything else.
13:24All this stuff.
13:25Coaches don't play.
13:28It's the star players that win Super Bowls.
13:30Troy Aikman won all those Super Bowls.
13:32OK, thank you very much.
13:33Troy Aikman could run the Cowboys with his eyes closed because those two have butchered it nice and juicy.
13:40All they do is lose big games now.
13:42They don't even matter.
13:43They get more attention than any team in sports that doesn't win that I've ever seen in my life.
13:49It's very true.
13:50Yes, Steve.
13:51The Lakers.
13:52They get so much attention and they don't even matter.
13:55We get an update on Jaden Daniels.
13:58Yes, we do have that for you.
14:01Here is Washington Commander Head Coach Dan Quinn.
14:06Of course, Daniels getting hurt on Sunday in that game against Carolina with the Ribs.
14:10Quinn says it is what it is.
14:13Might take some time.
14:14Week to week.
14:15Might take a week.
14:16Might take five.
14:17Who knows?
14:18The status for Jaden we'll put down as week to week.
14:20As you guys know, it's a rib injury.
14:22We'll take him through all the steps at practice and assess how he's doing and keep working through that.
14:28We're hopeful he can play.
14:30We'll also make sure to take every precautionary step and do it smartly for the player and the man.
14:39I want to make sure I give you all the updates that I had.
14:42It's not going to be something that's going to knock him out for a long term.
14:47Like I said, we're going to list it as week to week.
14:51Hopefully we'll play this week and we'll take every day of it all the way through.
14:55He's not playing this week.
14:57You can kind of already see the tea leaves.
14:59He did not practice today on Wednesday.
15:03Mariota is the one who talked to the reporters.
15:05Usually the starting quarterback talks to the reporters on Wednesday.
15:08He took all the first team reps.
15:10They're saying it without saying it they are.
15:13It's going to be Mariota on Sunday against the Bears.
15:16What a shock.
15:17Here's the deal.
15:18They're going to lose to the Bears.
15:20With Mariota, they're going to kill him.
15:22That defense is going to kill him.
15:24They're going to eat him up.
15:25They're going to pick him off.
15:27I wouldn't be surprised.
15:29I like a Bears prop defensive score.
15:33I think Caleb Williams is going to take advantage of the fact that the quarterback that's better than him is not playing.
15:41The Bears are good.
15:43Caleb's slinging it and they've got a really good defense.
15:46I never thought, as I said, that they were going to the Super Bowl.
15:50I wasn't buying all that shtick.
15:52I'm not buying it at all.
15:54But I will give you that they are a lot better than I thought they would be.
16:00They are two-and-a-half point favorites in Washington on Sunday.
16:04Basically, that's obviously been baked in with Daniels not playing.
16:0743-and-a-half is the total.
16:10I lean with you with the Bears here.
16:13Short number, two-and-a-half on the road.
16:15They should be able to take care of business.
16:18We gave you that story yesterday, I believe, about Andy Dalton with the car accident that he had with his family, Scotty.
16:24He did get a small injury to I believe it was his hand or his thumb or his wrist.
16:30Sprained thumb, I thought, I think I saw with him.
16:32So, he is not going to play this week.
16:35Panthers have announced that Bryce Young will be back in there.
16:38So, no Dalton.
16:39They are going to Denver to see the Broncos.
16:41So, that line is now shot to nine-and-a-half with the news that Bryce Young is going to start for Carolina.
16:4741-and-a-half the total in that game.
16:50I mean, God, he's been sitting on the sidelines with that look on his face for the last few weeks.
16:55Is he going to go in there with a little bit of gas?
16:58I mean, he's been watching this guy.
16:59I know they haven't won, but at least move the football.
17:02Got to give him the business a little bit to maybe do something this week, no?
17:07Well, listen.
17:08I got to be honest with you.
17:09I thought Dalton played well once.
17:11That's it.
17:13I thought one game, the first game that he played, he won, and I think he's stunk ever since.
17:17And it's unfortunate.
17:20He got in that car wreck with his family and sprained his thumb and everything else.
17:24I sprained my thumb playing basketball.
17:27I broke every finger 50 times.
17:29Like, you know, get over it.
17:30Like, I play with the sprained thumb.
17:32I play with it.
17:33My thumb is the size of a watermelon.
17:35I still play.
17:36Get over it.
17:37I don't think that he's – and the same thing with the Indiana quarterback.
17:40What, he's break his thumb?
17:42You know, he's not playing either.
17:44Like, I play with these things.
17:47Like, you break fingers, just play.
17:49Kobe Bryant, I was playing one day, a guy split his head open.
17:52He was gushing blood, and the point guard said Kobe would have played.
17:55As the guy's going to the hospital to get it stitched, he's leaving the building,
17:58and the other guy goes, Kobe would have played.
18:01Kept playing with the bloody head.
18:03So, I agree with, like, what's the matter, girly man?
18:06You got a sprained thumb?
18:07You can't play football?
18:08Okay.
18:09Well, then put the kid in.
18:10They'll still lose either way.
18:11The Panthers suck with Dalton.
18:13They'll suck without him.
18:15They probably will.
18:16Similar situation with the Browns.
18:18They have stunk with Deshaun Watson.
18:20He won't be there the rest of the year.
18:21We already know that.
18:22It will be Jameis Winston on Sunday against the Ravens,
18:26and they're going to make a change in the play caller situation.
18:30Stefanski hands over the play calling to Ken Dorsey.
18:34I got bad news for Kevin.
18:36Oh, you already know what happens there.
18:39I got bad news for Kevin.
18:41I don't know how that well that's going to go for him,
18:43giving the play calling to Ken Dorsey.
18:45So, God bless and good luck to the Browns.
18:49Listen, they have no chance against this team.
18:53They're going to run the ball down their throat,
18:55and it doesn't matter if they have Miles Garrett or God.
18:58I'm telling you.
18:59Ask the Buccaneers what it's like trying to stop that freight train.
19:03This guy is having a season.
19:07Have yourself a season, son.
19:09No one can stop King Henry right now, week to week.
19:12If he's healthy, which he is, he's destroying everyone, and so is Lamar.
19:18The Browns have no chance against them, none,
19:20especially with famous Jameis playing and taking advice,
19:24taking calls and play calling from Matt Hack.
19:27Now, listen, I'll give him this.
19:29He went to the U.
19:30So, God bless Dorsey, but ever since he left there,
19:33it's just been downhill ever since.
19:35I don't think he's a good coach at all.
19:38I know they don't think so at Buffalo.
19:41He got chopped.
19:42They've been better since they chopped him when they put Brady in.
19:45I don't think Allen's thrown an interception since they fired Ken Dorsey.
19:49So, things have gone very well along that aspect.
19:53Aaron Rodgers' hamstring flared up against the Steelers on Sunday night,
19:58one of his several ailments.
20:00But the Jets do expect him to play.
20:03Who cares?
20:05Are we going to start up again talking about this guy today?
20:09We're not talking about him.
20:10They are seven-point favorites on the road.
20:12They haven't won since they last played the Patriots.
20:15They will play them again this week in Foxborough.
20:1841.5 is the total, of course.
20:22As we know, the Patriots have been pathetic, in fact, at home.
20:27Look at this, Scotty.
20:28Over the past couple of seasons for the Pats,
20:31they have been miserable against the spread as dogs.
20:35I'll give you those when we come back.
20:37There it is for you, the Patriots against the spread.
20:40Last three years, 1-10 straight up, 1-8-2 ATS.
20:44They stink at home.
20:45Yeah, listen, I didn't need to see that to tell you that the Jets
20:48are going to win this game easily.
20:50They're finally going to win a game because they're playing the lowly Pats.
20:54And then they'll probably thump their chest like we're back.
20:57Jets are back after they beat up the Patriots.
20:59At least the Celtics are back.
21:01Your football team hasn't been back in years.
21:04And I hope they never are.
21:06They've done plenty of winnings.
21:08They've done plenty of winnings.
21:09We don't need any more of them.
21:10I'm having trouble sleeping over the Patriots' problems.
21:14That was the segment break where I usually make fun of people
21:19or make fun of situational.
21:21It's a lot like Tomlin.
21:23We have situations here.
21:26We're demanding character.
21:28And we're utilizing relationships.
21:32We're trying to find constant communication, creativity.
21:37That was the segment right there, Carver.
21:39I was talking bad about situations right there.
21:43You can feel it.
21:44Yep, there it is.
21:46The Titans are leaning towards starting Mason Rudolph this week
21:49against the Lions.
21:50The Lions are 0-6 in their history against Tennessee.
21:53That will change on Sunday.
21:55The question is will they cover, not will they win.
21:58That with the Lion and the Titan game that we're going to have this week.
22:02We'll see what happens.
22:05Yeah, yes, that's precisely what they're going to do.
22:09The Saints agree to a two-year extension with Alvin Kamara
22:12worth $24.5 million.
22:14Kamara also told everybody today that he's been playing with a broken hand
22:18the last couple of weeks.
22:20Since the Chief game, he broke his hand.
22:22Probably explains why he was so bad last Thursday night against the Broncos.
22:27Then again, the whole team sucked, so that probably wasn't on there.
22:30Like I said, just play with it.
22:31Like what's the problem?
22:33He actually is.
22:35He's played a couple games now with that broken hand.
22:38He says the trainers are doing a great job keeping him going.
22:41They also brought in Marquez Valdez-Scantling after the Bills released him
22:45last week, so he will be in New Orleans.
22:47They're desperate for wide receiver help.
22:49They need some healthy bodies there.
22:51All right, best against the spread in the NFL.
22:54We are seven weeks in as we head into week number eight.
22:58The Colts, the Indianapolis Colts, 6-1 against the spread so far this year.
23:05Bears, Lions, Vikings all 5-1.
23:08Commanders 5-1-1.
23:10The Chiefs, Steelers, Broncos, and Ravens are all on the list as well.
23:13The best ATS.
23:15I mean, I'm literally on all of those teams this week except the commanders.
23:20And they don't have their quarterback, so I can live with that decision.
23:23I'll go down with the ship.
23:24If Mariota beats me, I'll go down with the ship.
23:29The worst teams against the spread.
23:31The other side of the coin, there are the Panthers at 1-6.
23:34The Dolphins, Rams, Patriots, and Titans are 1-5 ATS.
23:39Then Jets, Browns, Cowboys, and Seahawks rounding out the worst of lists.
23:44Yeah, the one I'm surprised about, Mike, is the Seahawks.
23:48You know, Gino leads the league in everything, you know, passer, yards, everything.
23:54So, and they're, you know, 4-3 now, I think.
23:57They were 500, and then they won again in Atlanta.
24:00They kicked their ass.
24:01So, I am surprised they're 2-4-1 against the spread.
24:04All those other teams, literally, I bet against regularly.
24:09I think the Jets will cover this week.
24:12And, you know, I guess I'm a little surprised Dallas is 2-4 against the spread.
24:20Because what are they, 3-3?
24:22They're playing San Francisco.
24:23They'll probably lose this week again.
24:25So, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they go to 2-5 against the spread.
24:29So, all those other teams, I bet against regularly anyway.
24:34The Ravens are the best over team in the NFL.
24:36Six of their seven games have gone over the rainbow.
24:39The Giants the best under team in the NFL.
24:42Six of their seven games under the rainbow there.
24:46You see a bunch of other 5-2s with the over, several 5-1s and 5-2s with the under as well.
24:53Look at those under teams like the Giants and Dolphins.
24:58And, you know, the only one I'm surprised about is the Texans, I guess.
25:03Because they're so good and they score.
25:07So, you know what I mean?
25:08And then, you know, the Chiefs have not been putting up huge stats and numbers.
25:13They just win.
25:14And the Vikings have been putting up big numbers and winning.
25:18Surprise, they're under.
25:20And I hate the Eagles.
25:23Everybody does, indeed.
25:25Odds to win the AFC, it's still the Chiefs at plus 210.
25:29Ravens right behind them at plus 280.
25:32Bills are third and then the Texans and then a pretty big gap before you get to everybody else.
25:36On the AFC side, on the NFC side, it is the Lions now favored.
25:41How about that?
25:42Lions now favored over the Niners to win the NFC.
25:46I like that.
25:48I think the Lions are the best team.
25:49And I think the Steelers at 16-1 is something I'm interested in at that kind of price.
25:54With an offense, with a passer, with receivers, with a running game,
26:00and with a sick pass rush and a good secondary, and a good defense overall,
26:05and a great coach, they have a shot.
26:07Like, I've already conceded that they're going.
26:11Like, I'm not having a problem with 11 games left winning five.
26:16That will give them ten.
26:17Automatic, you're in.
26:19Automatic.
26:20Ten, you're a wild card.
26:22Eleven, you might win the division.
