00:00We'll be right back with more from the Dodgers and the Yankees
00:04just three days away from the start of the fall classic in
00:082024. A World Series is set. It's two of the most iconic and
00:13illustrious brands in all of sports and certainly baseball.
00:17It's the Dodgers and the Yankees for a World Series
00:20championship starting Friday night at the ravine in downtown
00:24Los Angeles. So to get you set for everything you need to know
00:28about the Dodgers and the Yankees. This is us live right
00:31here on this Tuesday on the early line. Great. Just me and
00:34you know, Donnie asking you stupid questions. No Joe
00:37Ranieri in the fold either. You excited just to have some one
00:41on one time. That's what I was waiting for, you know, in honor
00:45of the NBA coming back tonight. One on one me versus you, you
00:49know, me throwing a shot up you blocking it. That's that's the
00:52way that I saw it going down. I actually disagree with that
00:55a little bit of, you know, two-man ball pick and roll.
00:57Maybe I throw you the hoop, Craig comes in, slams it down.
01:00I do and I feel like if it was Donnie playing, he'd throw us
01:03like a hoagie at me, you know, during the game. So it's good
01:06that he's not here today. Hope he's sleeping.
01:11I mean, that's very good stuff. All right, let's get set for
01:14this World Series and the baseball that we have on the
01:18horizon. No, it was a good bottom chip. And now we're going
01:21to touch them all Craig and around them all. It's time once
01:24again, our first ever rendition of a World Series edition of
01:29the Daily Bases.
01:35So the World Series is set. Let's look back on the LCS as we
01:40start in the National League Championship Series high-scoring
01:43affair Craig in all six games, all six games go to the over
01:48all six games. See at least eight runs that favor favors the
01:52Dodgers with this outstanding offensive lineup that was put
01:56together to win World Series championships. What was your
02:01overall takeaway from the six games in the NLCS?
02:06Yeah, look, I think first of all, you got to give the Mets
02:08a lot of credit for getting as far as they did my view on the
02:12Mets going into the season was they were taking a step back
02:15from where they were a season ago handing out contracts to
02:19Verlander and Scherzer. I know that feels like a long time
02:21ago. It really wasn't that long ago that they did that extending
02:24Nimmo, you know, Sterns then comes in and sort of says, hey
02:29look, you know, we're not really sure how things are going to
02:31go this season, but credit to them. They also found Sean
02:33Mania late in the year and I thought they played competitive
02:36games all the way through that series until they got to the
02:39Dodgers. And then of course at that point, you're looking at
02:42the most prolific offense in baseball right now. And that's
02:45probably even without Freddie Freeman playing at a high level.
02:48So credit to the Mets for doing what they did and you know
02:51personally, I have no issues whatsoever with seeing LA in the
02:54World Series. I think it's going to be a fantastic theater for
02:58them to play and of course playing against the Yankees.
03:01The shortest margin four runs in favor of the Mets in game
03:05number two and although the ALCS was a shorter duration only
03:10five games all five games decided by three runs or less
03:15including the series and pennant clincher for New York on
03:18Saturday night in extra innings the three run shot for Juan
03:22Soto Giancarlo Stanton being the main offensive piece bringing
03:26them back Greg. We saw late-game drama and heroics on both
03:30sides here in the ALCS, but at the end of it the Yankees win
03:34their first American League pennant since 2009 15 years ago,
03:39which was New York's last World Series crown as well were the
03:44Yankees as dominant as a five-game ALCS might indicate or
03:48do you think the Yankees still have better baseball to play in
03:51the World Series? I mean look the Yankees could easily win the
03:54World Series. I think you probably look at them. Maybe
03:56with the better pitchers overall going in but if you look back
03:59at the Cleveland series, I mean I had this completely wrong
04:03because I thought that every game that Cleveland was going
04:05to be in the mix within a run or two or tied and they had a
04:08manual Class A. I thought that was going to be a win. I think
04:11most people thought that was going to be a win. So certainly
04:14the Yankees did not dominate that series. They just got the
04:17big hits when they needed them and you can see on that graphic
04:20there how close all those games were so look anything can
04:24certainly happen in a seven-game series. But the one thing that
04:27I'd like to add about all this by the way is within the
04:30parameters of playing this it's been so interesting the last
04:32few years people have been complaining that the top seeds
04:35with all the rest didn't get to the World Series and now people
04:39are complaining. It's the two highest payrolls. I mean, we
04:41just can't make anybody happy. I think this series is going to
04:44be great. I can't wait to see it. It's a nice change of pace
04:48to have the two Dynasties best teams Yankees of you know the
04:52past but Dodgers of maybe more of the present. It's great to
04:55see these two teams facing off. I can't wait to watch
04:58absolutely. So from a branding perspective in baseball from
05:02all the prestige that both of these two organizations have it
05:07should be a great World Series Tommy Edmund the NLCS MVP for
05:12the Dodgers at a 100 to 1 price before the series started
05:16batted 407 in the set against the Mets and Giancarlo Stanton
05:21for home runs coming up in the clutch time and again for the
05:25Yankees. So now let's spin it over to the World Series. It
05:29starts on Friday night. Dave Roberts yet to name a starter
05:32officially for the Dodgers. Garrett Cole listed as the
05:36starter for the Yankees as you might expect the Dodgers a
05:39favorite in game one. The Dodgers a slight favorite to
05:43win a World Series championship minus 122 that outright price.
05:49It is time for Craig Mish's official 2024 World Series
05:53prediction. Craig who wins and in how many games? So what I'm
05:58going to do is something a little bit different here. I
06:01did some research before the show and a little research
06:05before the show. Always do that for you guys and looked on
06:10FanDuel and scoured and dove deep into players and tried to
06:14find my favorite ones because it's very unpredictable to
06:17think you know who could win in a seven game series. I think
06:21through the first three games of the series the Yankees have
06:24the advantage. I don't care that the Dodgers are at home. I
06:27think because they have Cole and the possibility of winning
06:30one of the next two. The Yankees leading 2-1 after three
06:35games in the series is plus money. So that's like a plus
06:39130 where you can actually get a little bit of value on the
06:42Yankees there. The other one that I looked at again over on
06:46FanDuel is they have a lot of different prop options for
06:50home runs. The one that I like the most is Otani to have three
06:54or more home runs in the World Series. The Dodgers are getting
06:58no value there whatsoever. It's like even money. Otani is plus
07:01money there. I would expect him to have a big World Series. So
07:05those are my two favorite ones going into the Classic this
07:08week. Craig Mish, we appreciate the time. We'll continue to
07:12break down the World Series later this week as well. We'll
07:15see you on Newswire starting at 11 a.m. Eastern Time.
