00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Creepy Areas
00:15Hidden in Video Games.
00:24For this list, we'll be looking at the scariest sections that are hidden in popular video
00:28games.
00:29Have you ever stumbled across these areas?
00:31Let us know in the comments below.
00:33Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:38the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:42The Ghost – Hitman Contracts
00:50We know the Hitman series is full of death, but we never expected an actual ghost.
00:55A creepy spectral figure can be found in the traditions of the table level of Hitman
00:59Contracts, which takes place inside an extravagant hotel.
01:03One of the doors near the main entrance bears a sign reading, Hotel Wing Closed.
01:08Some players may read that sign and simply be on their way, but they would miss out on
01:12a wonderful – and wonderfully creepy – secret.
01:21If the player picks the lock, they will be met with a creepy darkened wing of the hotel
01:25and the hotel's resident ghost.
01:27If this proves too scary, rest assured you can simply kill the specter with a fiber wire.
01:36The Cavemen – Halo 3
01:42The Halo franchise is full of easter eggs, including the somewhat creepy family of cavemen.
01:48They can be found in the opening level, Sierra 117, and they are accessed by climbing a series
01:53of rock outcrops.
01:54These guys aren't really scary in and of themselves, and they don't attack the player.
01:58But just imagine coming across this little family and not knowing that they were there.
02:06It would certainly raise a ton of questions, and maybe a reflexive shot or two.
02:10Funnily enough, this easter egg actually started out as a prank.
02:13Bungie employees photoshopped the face of Marcus Leto onto a gorilla and spread the
02:17image around as an internal email.
02:20The Leto-gorilla hybrid then made its way into the game as a cute in-joke.
02:27Hell – Tony Hawk's Underground 2
02:36We love it when a good game finishes and then rewards you with even more game.
02:40It's the gift that keeps on giving.
02:42After beating Tony Hawk's Underground 2, the game opens up a secret bonus level called
02:46Pro Skater.
02:47This level consists of three sub-levels, a space station with aliens, a Mayan complex
02:51with skateboarding Mayans, and hell.
02:54Yes, hell.
03:02This area is about as creepy as Tony Hawk would ever get, with ghostly figures and red
03:06demons wandering about.
03:08There are also menacing statues, lots of lava, racks of bones, and even a dancing Satan.
03:14It's all quite cartoonish, but it's one bizarre way to end a skateboarding game.
03:25The Mountaintop Observatory – Bioshock Infinite
03:36Maybe there's a universe somewhere where the Mountaintop Observatory was in the game
03:40itself.
03:41Yes, it is not our universe, but that doesn't mean it isn't accessible.
03:45Near the end of the game, Elizabeth and Booker will explore a series of interdimensional
03:49lighthouses.
03:50If the player hacks the camera during this section, they can fly through the level and
03:54access what seems to be a piece of cut content.
04:03A large, snow-capped mountain hovers in the sky, and it's topped with an isolated observatory.
04:09If players enter the observatory, they will fall into a void of noise and nothingness,
04:13which only adds to the area's deeply unsettling nature.
04:23Minus World – Super Mario Bros.
04:30This famous glitch appeared in the 100th issue of Nintendo Power, which only increased its
04:35popularity and legacy.
04:37And to be honest, we don't know how people find these things.
04:40Players access Minus World through World 1-2, and it requires a ton of patience, not to
04:45mention a few precise moves.
04:47If successful, players will be rewarded with a very surreal glitch.
04:51Mario will float through the wall and be deposited in World-1, hence its creepy name, Minus World.
05:03This is a mirror of World 7-2, only with an eerily floating Princess Peach and no physical
05:09way out.
05:10The only way to escape this alternate-dimension hellscape is to get a game over or reset the
05:14console.
05:19The Ratman Dens – Portal and Portal 2
05:30Valve sure knows how to make a mean video game.
05:33They always know how to swirl away some fascinating secrets within said games.
05:37The Portal series makes for great puzzle-based entertainment, but it's also steeped in heavy
05:41lore.
05:42A schizophrenic scientist named Doug Ratman was the only survivor of GLaDOS' purge, and
05:47he hid himself away in various dens.
05:49These hidden dens can be found throughout the series, and they make for quite the harrowing
05:53experience.
06:00They are often littered with peculiar drawings and curious texts, not to mention a few pleas
06:05for help.
06:06Even scarier, one den in Portal 2 is soundtracked by the eerie musical piece, Ghost of Ratman,
06:11in which listeners can hear faint pieces of the scientist rambling to himself.
06:21The Ghost Room – Call of Duty Finest Hour
06:31Ironically enough, Finest Hour is far from Call of Duty's finest hour, but it may just
06:35have its finest easter egg.
06:37It can be found in the level Underground Passage, which takes place during the Battle of Aachen.
06:42If the player throws grenades at a specific locked door, they will be taken down a dark
06:45hallway to the Ghost Room.
06:54This is a circular area with floating candles, an enormous rat, disturbing pictures of children,
06:59and even the spirit of a little boy who simply floats around with a blank stare.
07:03One of the characters calls the room one of the creepiest things he's ever seen.
07:08We have to agree with him.
07:14The Statue's Heart – Grand Theft Auto IV
07:23Rockstar has littered the Grand Theft Auto franchise with many iconic easter eggs, but
07:27they're mostly of the fun or hilarious variety.
07:30This one is ripped straight out of a surreal nightmare.
07:33The Statue of Happiness stands in for the Statue of Liberty, and it bears a very strong
07:37resemblance to Hillary Clinton.
07:39And, like Clinton, it has a human heart.
07:42Yes, the statue has a heart, and it is astoundingly creepy.
07:52To access the secret, players need to fly a helicopter to the upper platform and enter
07:57a door that bears the iconic sign, No Hidden Content This Way.
08:01Simply enter the door, climb a ladder, and you'll be met with the unforgettable sight
08:05of a massive beating heart suspended by chains.
08:14The Dam – Shadow of the Colossus
08:16It's always fun to see what got cut from a specific game.
08:28Sometimes those cut sections were axed completely, but sometimes they remain in some small form,
08:32showcasing a potential of what could have been.
08:36The Beta Dam is an almost mythical location in Shadow of the Colossus, and it was reached
08:39in 2009 by a forum user called Picole.
08:42The dam is an empty piece of removed content and the leftover of earlier beta iterations
08:46of the game.
08:54To this day, no one really knows what the purpose of the dam is, but we do know that
08:58it is incredibly discomforting.
09:00The dam is enormous, elegant, and ultimately empty, like a long-abandoned piece of grand
09:05architecture.
09:06You can practically hear the ghosts.
09:14The Karazhan Crypt – World of Warcraft
09:23Way back in the vanilla World of Warcraft days, players would enter a secret location
09:27known as the Karazhan Crypt, which was only accessed by turning into a ghost or clipping
09:32through a gate.
09:33This is a very perturbing area filled with disturbing sights.
09:36There's a massive well, an enormous pile of corpses, and most infamously of all, the
09:41bloated, upside-down sinners that are floating in some water.
09:49It was later revealed that Blizzard had planned on including this section in the game itself,
09:53but ultimately decided against it.
09:55Instead, it became a famous part of WoW lore and arguably the creepiest hidden area in
10:01the history of gaming.
