In the afternoon it is set to be dry with a lot of clear spells for most of the England and Wales. In Scotland and Northern Ireland it is a different story as the the arrival of the next band of rain from the south-west brings heavy rain and strong winds to these places. In the evening the low-pressure system moves east which brings the heavy rain and strong winds further inland in northern Scotland while it remains mostly dry and clear for England and Wales. A yellow warning is in force for wind for many western parts of the UK and an amber warning is in-force for the west coast of Scotland for wind during the evening.

00:00Good afternoon, well it's been a very wet and windy start to the day as Storm
00:04Ashley crosses the UK through the rest of Sunday. Having a look at the latest
00:09radar and satellite at time of filming, we've got this heavy band of rain moving
00:14its way eastwards with a swirl of cloud associated with this area of low
00:18pressure named Storm Ashley. We've got a real squeeze in the isobars as well
00:22indicating some strong and gusty winds especially across Northern Ireland and
00:27North Western Scotland too. So through the rest of the afternoon this band of
00:32rain is going to continue to move its way eastwards so actually turning much
00:36drier across parts of Wales, south-west England into the Midlands and
00:40Northern England to end Sunday. But towards the north across Scotland into
00:46Northern Ireland further spells of heavy rain but also some very strong winds.
00:50There's a Met Office amber wind warning in force, we could see gusts 70 possibly
00:5580 miles per hour and there's high spring tides too that could lead to some
01:00coastal disruption. Elsewhere still some strong winds could see gusts of up to 50
01:04to 60 miles per hour coming up from a southwesterly direction. But it is going
01:10to be quite mild out there 16, 17 possibly 18 degrees towards the
01:14southeast, towards the north 15 degrees as well but obviously we've got the
01:19strong and gusty winds to contend with. So as we go through Sunday evening heavy
01:25spells of rain continuing across Scotland and Northern Ireland, the winds
01:29picking up towards northern parts of Scotland and into Orkney and Shetland
01:33with blustery showers pushing through. Further towards the south dry here but
01:38quite cloudy with some outbreaks of rain coming into the Channel Islands as we
01:42start Monday morning. But otherwise temperatures not dropping too low
01:47tonight staying around at 10 or 11 degrees to start Monday. So it's still
01:54going to be a windy start across Scotland as we go through Monday morning
01:58as we've still got storm Ashley close by. That will gradually push its way
02:03eastward, still squeezing the isobars but we do have this cold front that is
02:07going to just bring in some cloud and rain towards the far southeast. But you
02:12can see isobars spreading out to give some lighter winds here. So to start
02:18Monday morning some brisk winds especially across northern parts of
02:21Scotland with showers already quickly moving through. Further towards the south
02:26across parts of Wales, southwest England, some hazy sunshine but cloud really then
02:30restricted towards the far southeast as we end at Monday afternoon with some
02:35outbreaks of rain that could turn quite heavy at times too. But in between there
02:40will be some brightness as well and we'll have lighter winds but
02:44temperatures perhaps just not as mild around 15 or 16 degrees towards the
02:49north, highs of 11 to 13. So as we go through Monday evening then heavy
02:56showers continuing across Scotland and Northern Ireland, clearer skies towards
03:02the Midland and towards the southeast of England as well with lighter winds here
03:06too. As we go into Tuesday it's a case of sunny spells, scattered showers as well
