00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Well we've reached the end of the year with a very
00:04unsettled forecast. Outbreaks of rain, snow and also some strong winds at times
00:09with multiple Met Office warnings in force, including an amber warning for
00:12heavy outbreaks of rain across Scotland where there's likely to be some
00:16disruption as a result of flooding. Any longer spells of rain generally
00:19clearing but leaving showers, these falling as snow, mainly towards high
00:23ground but also to lower levels too, particularly in the far north. Shetland
00:27for example, seeing some outbreaks of snow and also some longer spells of
00:31rain and there's also going to be some persistent and heavy spells of rain
00:34across parts of Wales, northern and central parts of England as we head
00:37into this afternoon. The driest of the weather across the far south and
00:41southeast but plenty of cloud here and it is going to be a blustery day for all
00:45particularly for northern areas. But on the whole it is actually mild for the
00:49time of year but feeling chillier just to the far north of Scotland. Now as we
00:54head into the evening, many of us may be out enjoying New Year's celebrations but
00:59I'm afraid once again that unsettled weather is sticking around. Outbreaks of
01:02rain across parts of Wales, northern and central England, tending to linger on
01:07this heavy and rather persistent at times too, turning very blustery to the
01:11north, plenty of showers moving through here and once again we could see some
01:14outbreaks of snow across parts of Scotland. So feeling very cold here but
01:19slightly milder to the far south where we're likely to see the driest of the
01:22weather but likely once again to see plenty of cloud. And then for the start
01:27of 2025 we'll see a slight improvement in some areas but once again there is
01:32going to be plenty of rain around this slowly edging its way towards the south,
01:35heavy and persistent at times too and some very strong winds across the south
01:39by the afternoon as well with chance of we could even see some gales here. And to
01:43the far north of this we will start to see some sunshine but plenty of showers
01:47moving through too, particularly in northern areas where once again they're
01:51likely to fall as snow and with brisk northerly winds and some lower
01:55temperatures too, it is going to be feeling much chillier for New Year's Day,
01:58slightly milder to the south but even still a slightly chillier here compared
02:03to what it will be today. Then for the rest of the week we start to introduce a
02:08cold northerly Arctic flow across the country so we'll start to see some more
02:13sunshine yes but there'll be plenty of showers once again these falling as snow
02:17and it is going to feel particularly chilly and when we've had the rain too
02:20there's also a risk we could see some icy conditions so after your New Year's
02:24celebrations make sure to keep an eye on the website for any further warnings
02:28otherwise Happy New Year, bye bye.
