A rainband situated over northern England moves south and combines with thundery showers to produce a long spell of very heavy rain in the evening over central and eastern England, for which there is an amber warning. Elsewhere it will also be wet and windy in Wales and south west England, with gales in the latter, while it is drier further north though there are some showers in north east Scotland. In the morning the rain is largely confined to the southeast of England and it is much drier on Friday morning

00:00Hi there. Increasingly heavy and persistent rain will affect parts of Wales and central
00:04England overnight. As a result, an amber warning in force, that rain coming on top of already
00:10saturated areas where we saw some flooding earlier in the week. Now, it's been raining
00:15hard across Northern Ireland and Northern England through the day because of this weather
00:18front. It's also been windy. That wind and rain starts to sink south overnight and under
00:23this area of low pressure, we're seeing some slow-moving heavy thundery downpours. All
00:28of this merges to give a longer spell of very wet weather through parts of Wales, central
00:33England into East Anglia. And you can see this line of intense rain that lasts for several
00:37hours. In some parts, four to six hours will give 40 to 60 millimetres of rain falling
00:44on top of areas that were flooded earlier in the week. We'll also see increasingly windy
00:49weather push into the south-west, 60, perhaps 70 mph wind gusts for Cornwall. And with the
00:54wind and the rain in the south, it's going to be a mild start to Friday, colder further
00:57north where we've got clear skies for Scotland, very little rainfall for here. But you can
01:03see there the rainfall that's mounting up over 24 hours up to Friday morning for Northern
01:07Ireland and Northern England, easing off overnight. But it's this swathe, a narrow area of intense
01:13rain and as a result, that combined with the impacts earlier in the week, amber warning
01:19for parts of central England. But by the start of the day, although there could be some residual
01:25impacts on the morning rush, it is drying up. There'll be some heavy showers for a time
01:28across the south coast, Hampshire, Sussex and Kent. That clears through. Then, brighter
01:35skies start to arrive with a northerly wind and some showers, but also it's going to feel
01:42much colder. 13, 14 Celsius in the south, 10 or 11 further north. Showers could pop
01:47up anywhere but they'll predominantly be affecting the north and north-west and they'll continue
01:52in these places overnight, especially around western and northern coasts. Elsewhere, inland,
01:57clear skies developing and with that northerly wind, it's going to feel considerably colder.
02:02Such a frost in places by the start of Saturday, widely temperatures in the mid to low single
02:07figures away from coasts and away from the breezier spots and the cloudier spots. It
02:12will turn increasingly cloudy across Scotland and Northern England as well as parts of West
02:16Wales, Northern Ireland. First thing Saturday, showery rain moving in here. Some more persistent
02:22wet weather for western Scotland through the day. Much brighter skies to the south
02:26and the east, mostly dry, just the odd shower. 13 or 14 Celsius though the high, so it's
02:32going to be a cold day for the time of year. Much more on YouTube, so make sure you subscribe
02:37and you'll never miss an update. Bye bye.
