00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be taking a look at the Galaxy S21.
00:05This is a phone that, you know, I had a few requests to take a look at this phone even
00:09though, you know, I said in a previous video I do prefer the S21 FE for the better battery
00:14life and the extended software support.
00:17But this is a very solid phone, there are some, you know, things about it that, you
00:22know, you might like it over the S21 FE and I'll do that comparison probably tomorrow
00:27but yeah, so I picked this one up and this one was like really beat up.
00:32I got it for like $100, as you can see it's kind of scraped up at the top here.
00:37But yeah, it was really cheap.
00:39Now you can get these in really good condition on Amazon, eBay for around $200, I've seen
00:46them as cheap as $150 as well on eBay.
00:49But yeah, I think this is more geared towards somebody who, you probably want something
00:54a little bit smaller.
00:55And like I said, these are really, really cheap these days.
00:59But it is definitely smaller than the Galaxy S21 FE for sure.
01:05So it's definitely easy to one hand, so if you're somebody who wants something a little
01:10bit more compact for, you know, significantly cheaper, then yeah, this would be a pretty
01:16decent option here.
01:17It's IP68 dust and water resistant.
01:19It also is a glass and metal phone.
01:21It also has the matte finish on the back, the classic Samsung camera cutout that we
01:30really love.
01:32And yeah, it's a really solid built phone, very comfortable to hold in the hand.
01:36The screen on the S21 is still really good.
01:40You can see it's got very slim bezels on here as well too.
01:44Still looks great in 2024 here.
01:46It's a 6.2 inch dynamic AMOLED display.
01:49It's HDR10 plus 1300 nits peak brightness and it is a 1080p display at 421 for the PPI
01:56and a completely flat panel here.
01:59So yeah, so the display on here is absolutely great.
02:02It's very, like I said, it's easy to hold because it's a little bit smaller.
02:06I think the S21 FE might be like 6.4 inches I think.
02:12Yeah, so this one, it is definitely noticeably smaller and also since the battery is lighter,
02:17this is a, you know, it's not as heavy as well too.
02:20So it's a lighter phone and it's just easier to carry around.
02:24You can kind of put this in your pocket and you really don't feel it.
02:26But yeah, I absolutely love the display.
02:28The max brightness is definitely enough where it's not really an issue if you're at the
02:32beach or just outside in direct sunlight.
02:36So it's a very vibrant and nice, you know, 120 hertz display.
02:39So I have no issues with this panel.
02:43This phone got the Android 14 One UI 6.1 update.
02:48Didn't get any of the AI features besides the circle to search feature.
02:53But yeah, the overall software experience is blazing fast on this phone.
02:57It's a really, really fast phone.
02:59I think Samsung did a fantastic job with the One UI update as well.
03:04I really think for these older devices, it really has helped with standby time.
03:08It probably didn't help with battery life that much, but standby time has been really,
03:13really good on these older devices now.
03:15So that's why, you know, sometimes the update can be a hit or miss, but this one was really,
03:20really good.
03:21I think this was one of the best updates we've had in a while.
03:24Yeah, so One UI 6, of course, you got all your flagship features on here, Samsung desktop
03:28support and, you know, pretty much everything you would find on the flagship models.
03:34So yeah, so overall, I really, really like the software experience on here.
03:38It's very fast, especially for this price point.
03:41getting that flagship, you know, experience on here.
03:43Now, I do want to talk about the overall specs on here as well, too.
03:48So this was a Geekbench score, we just did.
03:53And here is the, you know, you can compare the price here to your phone if you're thinking
03:58about buying it.
03:59And yeah, we're getting really good scores on this one.
04:02It is performing great, and I'll go ahead and launch PUBG for you guys.
04:05All right, guys, when it comes to gaming performance on here, now, what I do like about the S21
04:10FE is that you do have the Snapdragon AAA processor, you have the 128 gigs of internal
04:16storage, 8 gigs of RAM on the base model compared to the FE 6.
04:21But also, guys, you do have on here, it's just better optimized.
04:26For some reason, even though the S21 FE has the same processor, this one can do PUBG at
04:3290 frames, which the S21 FE cannot do.
04:35So yeah, gaming performance is definitely going to be a little bit better on here, just
04:40because it's just better optimized.
04:42And this is across the board, Call of Duty, Fortnite, PUBG, whatever.
04:46And yeah, so that's one thing that I've noticed with this particular phone.
04:50So that there is also, you know, a very interesting thing within itself.
04:55But yeah, gaming performance on here is rock solid.
04:59With all of these AAA phones, if you do like a lot of intensive stuff, they do tend to
05:03get warm.
05:04But, you know, for me personally, I've never had any type of crashing or, you know, overheating
05:09problems for the most part, honestly.
05:12So this is still, you know, a great phone for gaming.
05:15Like I said, if you get it for, you know, $150, that's real steal.
05:21But this is excellent for anybody who's gaming on a budget, trying to game competitively.
05:27You do have dual speakers on the S21 FE.
05:30I got them at max volume.
05:39The speakers are pretty decent.
05:53They're pretty crisp and clear.
05:55Decent amount of bass.
05:56You know, nothing too crazy.
05:58But these are overall solid speakers.
06:00You know, they're very clear for the most part.
06:02The biometrics on here are excellent as well too.
06:05They have the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, so it's really fast.
06:08All right, so let's talk about the overall camera experience.
06:12It's still a really good camera experience here in 2024.
06:15It's got a 12 megapixel standard, a 64 megapixel telephoto, 3x hybrid zoom with a 12 megapixel
06:22ultrawide.
06:23It shoots in 8K24 with a 10 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K60.
06:29This will give you some very, very good shots, guys.
06:32I was still, you know, pretty impressed with the overall image quality, as always with
06:37these older Samsung phones.
06:39Everything was pretty crisp and clear.
06:41Colors were great, vibrant.
06:44Dynamic range is great.
06:45The telephoto lens is solid on here.
06:47Video is also really good as well on here for this, you know, older device.
06:51So overall, I think the camera experience is pretty good.
06:56It does pretty decent in low light.
06:57It's nothing, you know, too crazy, but I really like the camera experience on here.
07:02I thought it was, you know, really good, especially for this price point.
07:06It will beat, you know, most budget phones easily.
07:08All right, lastly, let's talk about the battery life on this phone.
07:12Now, the battery life is just pretty average on this phone.
07:15I would say five hours of screen on time.
07:19Like I said, the One UI 6.1 update really helped this phone with screen on, not screen
07:24on time, but with the standby time.
07:27So this phone doesn't drain as fast as it used to when it first came out, but you can
07:33expect, you know, roughly five, five hours and 30 minutes of screen on time.
07:38And if you're a gamer, you can kind of cut that down to like four hours of screen on
07:41time if you play a lot of games and stuff like that.
07:44So the battery life is, you know, it's decent on here.
07:46The battery size is really not that big.
07:49It's a 4,000 milliamp hour battery, 25 watt charging, and then it has wireless.
07:53And it also has reverse wireless charging as well too.
07:57So it's a pretty solid phone here in 2024.
08:00Let me know what you guys think, and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
