00:00Millions or even tens of millions of pesos is lost in agri-produce gone to waste from spoilage.

00:06To stop the bleeding for good, a billion and a half pesos has been earmarked by the Department

00:10of Agriculture to procure solar-powered mega-cold storage and modular facilities before year-end.

00:23The Department of Agriculture will establish mega-cold storage and modular facilities across

00:28the country. This aims to combat food waste and ensure the availability of agricultural products

00:34during critical times. 1.5 billion pesos will be earmarked for this initiative,

00:39sourced from the agency's approved and programmed fund.

00:42The procurement process for these facilities is set to begin before the end of the year.

00:58In light of declining prices during this harvest season, the Department has also assured a purchase

01:21on husk grains or palay from farmers. According to the DA, a significant 9 billion pesos has been

01:28released and allocated to the National Food Authority, which will enable the purchase of

01:32over 7 million sacks of palay. This rice will be milled and used for various relief operations

01:38during disasters and emergencies. 2. To further assist Filipinos in accessing

01:44affordable rice, the Department is expanding the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program to cover the

01:49Visayas and Mindanao. Expect to see an additional 45 Kadiwa outlets opening their doors before the

01:55end of October.
